  • wow wow im baseball is way better den fuckin cricket they pay more

  • i would love to see one of you fuckers hit a baseball going 90 mph and anyways baseball is not always played by yankees dum fuck oh stupid yanks blah blah its called the NORTH SOUTH EAST AND WEST GAY FUCKS

  • @kboy229 who cares its a gay sport anyway

  • naser was best captain in the histry of eng

  • football is the best sport in the world at the moment and no.2 is Cricket i used to think cricket is boring and crap when i have become a huge fan of cricket i love cricket and football

  • cricket 4 life!

  • Baseball sucks, cricket is the best, fuck you yanks

  • NASSA' HUSSAIN

  • HEY Eaglestrike117. READ MY COMMENT. IT'S FACT, NOT A JOKE. BASEBALL SUCKS.

  • screw u moron give me supporting details as to why baseball sucks but until then shut up

  • Cricket has its colonial hang-ups for sure, but it's played by far more countries (and probably more people too). It's truely global. Massive in India and Pakistan, THE game in the Caribbean, an institution in Australia... and it's growing. Who knows, with the cash being pumped into the game by Texas billionaire Allen Stanford (who obviously does like it!), it might even creep towards you. I agree with your last point though: Hurray for international unity! Most countries hate the States...

  • Well... without sounding petty myself: you started it! This is a video about cricket and you've jumped in with statements guarenteed to wind people up. I probably wouldn't do it on a baseball video. Okay then, I'll move on from your refusal to take me up on the challenge then and respond to your latest proposal. Listing high population as a general justification of a sport's popularity is a bit poor, I mean, does that make Kabaddi a world sport cos it's big in India?

  • baseball is a joke, the fielders use those big gloves to catch the ball and the baller chucks it - would be interesting to see them ball the ball over-arm which is very difficult to do. cricket involves tactics, skill and technique unlike baseball which is all about belting the ball out of the ground.

  • Are you kidding me? Firstly, wtf is a baller? You mean pitcher. And for your info the pitcher does throw it OVER-ARM. Baseball involves just as many, if not more tactics than cricket. And for your last sentence, "Belting the ball out of the ground"? It's called a home run, which is when you hit it out of the park. also known as field. thats not what baseball is all about anyway. you have to work as a team to get the batters out, or to score runs by getting the runners around all four bases.

  • YEAH. But CRICKET still DOMINATES.

  • What, are we at war with the USA at the moment then? I don't remember the Houses of Parliament being burnt down in 1812! Anyway Eaglestrike117, your argument is a bit thin. Sure, there are tactics to baseball, but Copkiller2k7 is still closer to the mark. A pitcher does have variation in his sling-like throw, but a cricket 'bowler' has far more variation because the ball can bounce and there are more options for getting the batsman straight out, rather than just 3 strikes.

  • EAgle is a typical American. We can beat you in a fight!! That sounds so immature and stupid, not to mention violent. No wonder the world hates you.

  • Erm... the Revo' War thing is a bit of a can of worms really (thanks France) but, joking aside, not sure where you're going with that. If you mean 'own the British' at the art of war, I think we have a better rep' for the profession (at least we did until the Basra fiasco). & if you mean a war against each other? Well, that means nuclear retaliation and the end of us all. Both have enough bombs to end the earth. And if anyone comes out on top there it'd be the Chinese. Anyway... back to cricket.

  • ...I'd like to see you list the variations in baseball pitching and I'll respond with the variations in cricket. If you were trying sarcasm with the 'Oh no! The ball can bounce!' comment, then I can only secretly snigger to myself and say: "bring it on!" I say that Cricket is the Chess to Baseball's Checkers!

  • Oh yer... I promise not to go near Wikipedia if you do! My own limited knowledge of Cricket should be enough. And I promise not to chat and list deliveries like the Bosey and Wrong 'Un as well as the Googly. Right... off to bed!

  • Well, seeing as baseball is America's national pastime, and America has more citizens than Great Britain, and the fact that many countries like Japan have professional baseball leagues, I would say more people like baseball, and baseball is more popular. Baseball has more fans, and baseball is all around better. I don't know why we're taking this so seriously. Who gives a shit?, (or bloody hell.) Hurray for international unity!

  • Baseball has more fans? Jesus Christ would you research things before you claim them, a cricket pitch is the equivalent of Mount Olympus to India. India has enough cricket fans on its own to outnumber the baseball fans of the world, then not to mention England, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan and the other 100 or so countries that play it (United States included). After football (REAL football) cricket is 2nd in popularity.

  • I don't care. You like cricket, and I like baseball.

  • From the comments you've made I'd say you care quite a lot. Considering you cared enough to start this argument how odd you don't seem to care after losing it. Seems America doesn't 'own Britain at everything'.

  • You just have to have the last word, don't you.

  • and baseball is a crap sport played by stupid yankees who cant tell their feet from their hands

  • @gateofstars

Who can't tell their feet from their hands? What the fuck? I've never played cricket because its for you fucked up toothed brits but, I'd probably hit bombs off you.

  • @gateofstars your just jealous. instead of arguing about the athletes or the actual sport, you just insult the players that are waaaaayyyyy fucking good. Baseball fans like both sports, why do cricket fans hate baseball? its because they're jealous.

  • Hey man, CRICKET is the MOST POPULAR SPORT in the Carribean, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India; CRICKET is one of the most popular sports in another several countries and the WORLD CUP is watched by more than 2 BILLION TELEVIEWERS AROUND THE WORLD. This is fact: CRICKET IS THE SECOND MOST POPULAR SPORT IN THE WORLD. Baseball is popular ONLY IN THE USA, CENTRAL AMERICA AND JAPAN. CRICKET IS BY FAR MORE BETTER THAN BASEBALL, because it's not complicated like Baseball.

  • shebaseki

  • bull rugby's much more popular in Australia than cricket. And also, i have recently made a team called TEAM USA and we are playing Japan, Australia, GERMANY, THAILAND and countries ive never even knew existed. So explain to me how its better. U say its complicated because you dont understand it. Baseball is like a chess game te coach the player the players the pieces. It takes logic, intelligence and more skills than Ive ever seen in a cricket match.

  • @Danester01 I mean no offence at all and I am not looking for a fight. I play both games with varying degrees of skill, but I would ust like to know how you come to the conclusion - from your experience - that baseball requires more logic and intelligence than cricket.

May I ask how long you've been playing?

    I re-iterate - I AM NOT LOOKING FOR AN ARGUMENT. It's a simple question,.

    Peace

    -TBB.

  • @teabagbob I haven't seen many cricket matches but the ones that I have seen just bored me. You were right in that I just made a statement base on personal experience which is a major fallacy in my logic. I have never played Cricket except in Australia, and Rugby, in my opinion is more popular than cricket based on the fact that during my time in Sydney, I saw more rugby than I did baseball and cricket combined.... Do you enjoy American football of rugby more?

  • @Danester01 I must admit, I love watching rugby union. That's not to say I dislike American football. Both sports have their merits, but I prefer rugby.

If it's not too forward, I would suggest that if you get the chance, you should watch some Twenty20 cricket. It's all attacking, very little defensive play and is perfect for those that dislike ODI or Test matches.

  • OK what are you saying America and Japan can't even combine to beat India's population, and in India almost everyone watches cricket. Truly cricket is more popular in the world. Even U.S.A and Japan play cricket but they suck. Also cricket requires a lot more skills then baseball.

  • @zeeox Although I agree with the fact that Eaglestrike 117 gives us Americans a bad name, I beg to differ on your argument that there are more variations. Pitchers pitch at an angle which in turn relates to any point on a 360 axis. Therefore, pitchers can have just as much variation in arm motion than (bowlers is what theyre called right?) I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just throwing it out there that just because we are restricted, it doesn't mean we can't have just as much variation.

  • @Danester01 - hey mate, no worries. There's nothing wrong with a bit of reasoned debate. The only problem I guess is when it comes to an impasse. I guess the only true way to call it on this one is for someone with a professional interest in both sports to pass on an unbiased opinion... and that's be difficult! Whilst I agree there is a decent enough variation in 'your' picthers, I still think 'our' bowlers get more. You see, cricketers get so much more area to aim at... 1/2

  • ... and so they have much more variation en-route as it were. What this then infers is that baseball pitchers are much more accurate with their deliveries - perhaps making it a more skilled (and tougher) profession. The resulting permutations means you see much more variety in a cricket 'bowl' - from the sublime to the just plain poor. So, whilst I disagree with you, what I am admitting is that there are more places to hide in pro cricket for bad bowlers - and not so in pro baseball. Cheers! 2/2

  • @zeeox I've played both baseball and cricket, although not at a professional level in either case.

You can get away with crap deliveries in either sport at the amateur level, but at the highest level (ie MLS Baseball and Test Cricket) you will get punished more severely for dross in cricket. In cricket, if a batsman can survive his 'playing-in' period, he can become almost unstoppable, and will pounce on anything even inches short of a length.

Sir Viv Richards was a classic example of this.

  • @zeeox So I can't agree that bad bowlers have a 'place to hide' in Test Cricket.

The variety and control of bowlers in cricket has to be absolutely precise, or they'll get murdered by the batsman.

Cricket is the scarier sport , too, for my money - facing a pace bowler when the pitch is acting up is lethal as the number of fractures and concussions demonstrates.

Plus, I've fielded in cricket literally only feet from the batsman, with the deliveries whizzing past my ear at 90+ mph.

  • @zeeox And at forward short leg or silly point, all I had to protect myself was my cup - the current helmets with face-masks had not yet been invented in my day. I played short-stop in baseball, and the required reaction time was positively leisurely in comparison.

Does the baseball glove (or "mitt') help with fielding? Yes - makes catching the ball a comparatively easy task.

I have enjoyed baseball a lot, both as a player and as a spectator.

But I love the cricket - simply magnificent

  • @flygweilo - I agree with all your comments really. I was just trying to help bridge the divide that such videos on YT seem to create when it comes to the UK vs the US. I would enjoy watching a game of baseball from time-to-time for sure but I think its the greater variations in batting, bowling and field placements in cricket that make it more interesting. [1/2]

  • [2/2]

I'd also say it is a harder game to initially enjoy and understand for many but, like a fine wine, given time, it is a much better game to fully appreciate once you know what's going on. I was lucky to brought up listening to TMS and watching the games on terrestrial telly - so I'd love the US to get into it as it can only become a better game with more competitive countries playing the game.

Oh yes, I think I was on about below average county bowlers more than Test players to be fair!

  • @zeeox having played both sports (I think you attained a higher level of cricket than i did!), I do feel that cricket is a much more complex game.

The reason is simple - the ball bounces. Too many people look at this fact, and think that this must slow the ball down. Well, I guess it does, but it's still coming through at very much the same speed as in baseball. The complexity of problems facing the batsman are thus enormous, and far higher in cricket.

  • @flygweilo At the end of the day, i know of no other game that can remain nail-bitingly exciting for five whole days. And still leave you wanting more ...

I think that the two sports should not see themselves in competition, but in co-operation. If you enjoy the one, you'll probably enjoy the other.

  • This was an amazing catch - remember it from 2002 natwest series - fucking awesome - Hussain the legend!
