First off, defectx has a point, graphics can HELP increase the playability of a game. Take a look at crysis. It was the technical abilities of the first cryengine that made the game so popular and fun to play. While graphics certainly aren't everything, a little eye candy or technological pizzaz never made a game less enjoyable(outside of lag, which is a different issue).
