So...either this is not actually Cookie Monster, but a relative of his; or by some fabulous miracle he survived that explosion, but the explosion broke all of his teeth and, in a bizarre side effect, changed the color of his fur. Either way, the message is clear: computers are not meant to be eaten.

The fact is Cookiemonster wasn't around back then and Jim Henson used a lot of his puppets for commercials and clips such as these. After this IBM video the same puppet was used again for the Ed Sullivan show, then in some commercials for food (forgot which) and finally was introduced in Sesame Street in 1969.

Originally he was the same kind of bully brute he had been in these IBM videos, and had no name. Later he was given a cookie addiction and Cookiemonster was born
