  • What is this, chinee version of Battlestar Galactica? LOL.

  • Comment removed

  • @RX78 You actually have it wrong, my friend, Battlestar Galactica was originally billed as "Adama's Ark," A collection of Biblical stories in space. However, the network said "no," So Glenn A. Larson, a Latter-Day Saint, swapped the Bible with the Book of Mormon. That is how we got Battlestar Galactica.

  • @StarFoxHeroSJ

    1) Battlestar Galactica (1978) was inspired by Star Wars (1977).

    2) Star Wars (1977) was inspired by some Japanese films. George Lucas acknowledges that the plot and characters in the 1958 Japanese film The Hidden Fortress were a major inspiration. if you don't know about it, look at my favorites (George Lucas talks about the influence of samurai movies on Star Wars).

  • @RX78 That may be true, but Battlestar Galactica had a distinctly LDS flavor to it, I am not saying that you are wrong that it was inspired by Star Wars, but the fact that the creator was LDS was also a major factor.

  • @StarFoxHeroSJ

    3) Space Battleship Yamato (1974) was the first TV show/movie to have large-scale battles in space.

    4) Battlestar Galactica 2004 was inspired by some Japanese anime (The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, etc).

    5) Space Battleship Yamato 2010 was inspired by some American TV shows/movies (Battlestar Galactica 2004, Starship Troopers, etc).

Anyway China has nothing to do with those TV shows/movie.

  • @RX78 Where did China come from?

  • @StarFoxHeroSJ

    underwater

  • Geez Louise, I need to see this movie.

  • ... especially when they value honor more :)

  • This is a good movie! It has exciting plot/story, its sci-fi stuff try to combine all the nice idea we saw in other sci-fi, and interestingly we can see an authentic different role for a captain if compared to Star Trek's (ST's captain is more managerial & democratic but for this movie you'll see it for yourself :)). Japan is really good at this heroic stuff :)

  • Cheesy acting, horrible music. Yep, definitely a Japanese film. Awesome special effects though.

  • How did they make this on a 12 million dollar budget?

  • where can you get this movie i find it nowhere

    (exept the net)

  • this story is EPIC !!!

  • and so began the Mobile Suit Era

  • looks corny as fuck, damn!

  • Much BSG in there. still it was a fun movie and i just love those big space battles ! :D

  • star trek movie influince is obvious in the trailer

  • @armorhide406

Star Trek and Space Battleship Yamato influenced each other.

  • Its more like Battlestar Blazers Yamato Galactica

  • @junkyintel Agreed. This film borrows heavily from "ID4", "Starship Troopers", "Battlestar Galactica"...but sadly borrows precious little from the original "Space Battleship Yamato". Quite disappointing.

  • Next comes Robotech! :D

  • @AnimeFreakster1354 DO WANT :)

  • crazy japanese : )

  • well, i think of archangel from gundam when i watched thins trailer. haha.

  • This looks awesome!!!!

  • alright next would be gundam

  • FUCK DESLOCK ! ! !

  • @RX78 Thanks for your help. 1/6 Star Trek. You, I think the Yamato looks a lot better than the enterprise, don't you?

  • @macktheknife888

it seems all of the uploaders have been suspended.

  • This is great +)

  • Comment removed

  • @RX78 ok it was just a joke any ways :D

  • Holy shit, this looks awesome! All the WWII babble aside, this.. seems to have a quality, and space opera feel that's been long gone from the Hollywood studios. Gonna watch this. Somehow. o:

  • @jlovebirch I don't think they based the show on the fact the ship got defeated, I believe they were basing it on the fact that the ship was and is the largest warship ever built.

There was no glory in Hiroshima, unless you see it from the American's point of view, so there's no material for a movie there.

  • @LordDarthVader5 - A valid point, but it seems more likely they are (on a psychological level) resurrecting the ghosts of WWII (in a sci-fi movie, of all things) as a gesture of face-saving redemption -- a very Japanese thing to do. RE: the last comment - that was obviously an ironic joke, not to be taken seriously. It saddens me that no one on the Internet gets irony. Everyone should look it up and memorize the definition to avoid looking foolish in the comments section.

  • @jlovebirch in WW2 Yamamoto is the biggest battleship ever constructed. Its armor is too thick for a destroyer gun, and it didn't sink easily even when all the fighters strafing & destroyer & torpedo boat are attacking it at once (during its final battle in Phillipine, where Admiral McArthur of the USS Enterprise + fleet were distracted to pursue a group of aircraft carrier). Beside Yamamoto, there's also a submarine-class aircraft carrier that you could Google about...

  • @xponen I think you are correct, on one condition, The Bismark would be bigger, but I'm not sure if they even considered it a battleship. They may have just considered it a Dreadnought.

  • @WittyUsername816 wiki says both are of same lenght, but Bismark weight 50,000 ton while Yamamoto weight 70,000 ton. I think they are same class...

  • @jlovebirch Its also funny how dickheaded Americans such as you can be an asshole in any situation

  • not following the original storyline, very disappointing many elements heavily borrowed from hollywood science fiction

the only people left on earth are japanese or probably bec of budget constraints

only 2 actors played their part well Toshiyuki Nishida and Meisa Kuroki the rest are tokusatsu standard

cgi is just a few levels above philippine movie standard

over all assessment: could have been better, or stick to anime

  • Comment removed

  • Battlestar is better

  • Looks nice! But should have made the cast more racially diverse, earth is not populated by only Japanese/Asians after-all......

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFrozenSamurai

Yeah, during WWII. But this is about space and humanity in general, not just one country.....

  • @Sceonn

have you seen space battleship yamato (1974) episode 2? in the anime, most countries fell. and this movie was based on the anime.

  • @RX78 i disagree, Earth recovered and became a united federal government

  • @RX78 Japan had one ship that was earth's last hope ;)

aswell the Honour the Arizona in the series aswell eerily enough

  • @Sceonn Kinda the way hollywood does? Oh no they don't. Just obligatory blacks to fit into AA.

  • @starcrafter13terran

How many hollywood movies feature asians? If you thought about it you wouldn't have said that.

  • @Sceonn Stick your DIE-versity up your libtard ass, punk.

  • @Stigmableedingblack WoW, the beauty of the net.... And, seems you're a surgeon, with a website directing to a White "Nationalists" site. Bringing back up a month old post just to rail up your own pitiful self due to your lack of self-esteem probably. Forgive me for not caring! NOT

  • I was a bit sceptical at first, but this movie really is awesome. Very high production value in both CGI as well as props and interiors, and good actors as well. :)

  • I don't think I can handle this

  • WHEN WHEN IS THIS COMING TO AMERICA WHEN??!!!

  • what was the englosh song that played halfway through it?

  • @THESMEXEE Steven Tyler - Love Lives

  • This movie actually kicked the ass of many movies. Ending is sad though. Brave SOBs.

  • I meant English, lol!

  • Teletran-Always better to watch it with the japanese language and Emglish subtitles. Dubbing is usually awkward and cheesy...

  • looks good never actually watched the anime

  • WOW I really would like to see this english dubbed of course

  • Space Battleship Yamato > Transformer 3

  • @FD87 Masturbating with sandpaper > Transformers 3.

  • @FD87 and u know why? because this is not american movie that is obsessed about sex. Like most of them are.

  • japan

  • Steven... Tyler...?

  • Yamato cannon activate!!! Biscuitcruiser yes

  • Tyler..Armagedon on Yamato ... NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • PRAISE LORD AMEN HALELUJA ...... me and brother where glued to the TV when this was on .... BEST BEST BEST ever !!!

  • Good movie! I would love to see a Robotech live action movie reboot!

  • Finally a live action translation of anime that doesn't suck. Its a must see film of any Yamato fan. This film truely does it justice.

  • @kunou126

live action TV series of Sailor Moon was also good in spite of a small budget.

  • LOVE LIVE YAMATO

  • (Sees the beginning) Wth... this is by Toho... as in creators of GODZILLA Toho?! Okay now I'm not surprised...

  • damnit I only found out about this film recently. Gonna watch it tomorrow. I hate it that great asian films are never heard of here in USA. Especially sci-fi films like this one .

  • wait... wtf???

  • @theonlydoberman211

live action adaptation of an old anime named Space Battleship Yamato (1974).

  • @RX78 no. anime and live action should NEVER EVER EVER EVER mix together! it's just fucking weird.

  • ugh another crap remake from Japan. No wonder why this film FAILED big time.

  • very cheesy lol

  • the entire movie was cool.... untill I got to the end of it and heard the song. I was like... WTH!?

  • @TheEmperorofthevoid Areosmith is NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THIS!

  • JAPAN¡¡ the greats professionals of the especial effeccts since ULTRAMAN¡¡¡¡

  • They could've done without the shitty music!!

  • lead actor remind me of Iron Chef host

  • in all honesty, one of the best live action movies of an anime I've seens ever.

  • @linkxsc

live action TV series of Sailor Moon was also good.

btw if you like Star Wars and Japanese stuff, I recommend an interview and a comedy. look at my favorites (George Lucas talks about the influence of samurai movies on Star Wars, Darth Vader vs Japanese Police).

  • @RX78 havent's seen the live action sailor moon (was never into that show) and yeah I've seen that interview before. Jedi were designed to be as badass as samurai. I still love in the new trilogy, Obi Wan's obviously kendo based stances

  • Betostaru Garaktiku

  • does this remind anyone of macross...? or in which we americans call.... robotech? X3

  • MOTHER OF CHUCK!!!

Is The Japanese Version of the Sci Fic Serie called "Battlestar Galactica". Is fantastic!!!

  • @mlattanzio2010 They are completely different.

It's like saying Star Trek and Star Wars are similar.. The Space Scene Genre is bigger then that

  • Where the fuck is that badass theme song of the anime show? Use that in the trailer and the ticket-sales are going through the roof!

  • @videofieldsoldier

I can only conclude that they wouldn't use the original theme because they feared that would make the trailer TOO awesome. So they offset it with other music.

  • steven spielberg would make it better ^^

  • @Shetyre no non-japanese can make better animes or anime-adopted live action movies than an actual japanese...

  • @KubusSc7 Except Speed Racer. That was pure awesome. Nonsensical nonsense beyond the comprehension of western viewers, but still an awesome literal translation from anime to live action.

  • @Shetyre You obviously have been living under a rock the last 10 years and missed the train wrecks of War of the Worlds and the Transformers trilogy. There's no sense whatsoever in giving Spielberg another classic story to ruin with his current idea of 'storytelling'.

  • You can buy the DVD on Amazon.com now in japanese with english subs! I got mine!!

  • that's a lot of firepower, bro!!!

  • Ohhhhhh thts where the Yamato cannon in Starcraft is from

  • @Elthenar

I think Space Battleship Yamato (1974) was the 1st show that has large scale battles in space. and Star Wars was influenced by lots of shows /movies. some scenes of Star Wars episode 6 (1983) were influenced by Message From Space (1978) though MFS was a copy of Star Wars episode 4 (1977).

  • @RX78 The Star Wars space scenes we're largely inspired by WW2 war movies with fighter planes. Remember, Yamato was not show in the US until 1979 or so as Star Blazers. Star Wars was already in full swing long before then, as was BSG.

  • @Elthenar

yeah both Space Battleship Yamato (1974) and Star Wars (1977) were inspired by WW2 and WW2 movies. the wave motion gun was inspired by the atomic bomb for example.

I heard George Lucas visited japan at that time. he often visited japan.

  • Im with TheEmperorofthevoid...I go WAYYYYY back to when it first was shown in the States on the Sunday evening family movie with Dick Paten (of Popeye cartoon fame) and was overjoyed when it became part of the weekday channel 13 broadcast afterschool. Thsi series had the GUTS to display courage, indesision, and even death and sacrfice to young viewers. While Tyler is a great artist, THIS deserves the magnitude of its creation.

  • @RX78 thanks for the feedback O:

  • Comment removed

  • Well, except for the obligatory "top 40 hit" soundtrack it look pretty good.

  • @MrFlyingscotsman1 Not even close. Much much more involved. Watch the original series. You will not regret it.

  • sorry, I meant LOSE something in the feel of the story.

  • the film was great, the OST suck, I prefer their made their own OST in Japanese songs, no offence to Tyler, but the song was... hmm.. not good enough for this great film...

  • @biozkop Steven Tyler's song was only in the end credits. It wasn't intrusive to the score at all. Cheesy, yes. Intrusive, no.

  • LOL Yamato truly un-sinkable

  • FULL ENGLISH SUBBED MOVIE ON MY CHANNEL

  • I was so happy to see this epic anime become a movie, but why Steve Tyler... is that a joke??????

  • I just watched it!!! It is really amazing movie!! Actually i watched it because of Kimura Takuya, cause he's my fav actor but still movie was awesome without any doubts!!!! and for my opinion this Japanese version will always be better than any others ♥ ♥ ♥

  • @nini6787 Well said! It was always suppose to be made in japan! Not the disney machine...

  • let me guess, Americans destroy it before it enters a single battle?

  • we want robotech!!!!

  • the Japanese bluray release has no subtitles. So either we're going to have to wait on a fansub group, or for it to be licensed and released (probably with a really shitty dub) in the West.

  • @BillMan138 I managed to find a version of this with a Subs file that you could import in. They were actually spot on except for a couple times where there were a few missing parts (one line at most) and some mistranslations where the outcome was a bit questionable in english. Message me if you want me to link it.

  • @whittal thanks, but I found one. this movie was AMAZING~!

  • They had better find a way to get it to the USA or Im going to really Be pissed that I didnt win the lottery and fly to Japan myslf LOL

  • @zagnut36 go torrent

  • @zagnut36 -- I bought the DVD, with english subtitles. Subtitles keeps the original feel of the movie, as opposed to dubbing, IMO.

  • @koradan Do they have it with English dubbing?

  • @putthisonmytab -- No they do not.... yet. However, IMO, I feel it would loose something in the feel of the story if it was dubbed. I've noticed that with other asian films -- I get more out of "subtitled" then "dubbed" movies.

  • @koradan yeah agree it keeps it original when it doesn't have an english dubb. THey would probably get some horrible voice actors anyways haha. I'm just lazy sometimes when I have to read while watching a movie... sometimes. XD

This movie isn't on netflix nooooooo. Should I check ebay you think?

  • @putthisonmytab English dubbing?? WTF is wrong with you?! O.o

  • @SternMann93 haha sometimes i'm just to lazy to read when watching a movie... somtimes. I know dubbing has shitty voice actors and all that but when I think the movie might be cheesy anyways then I don't think it really matters.

  • @putthisonmytab Not sure why it matters IF the dub is decent. I agree, it's annoying to flick your eyes to the bottom of the screen every half second to read what characters are saying (for 2 hours)...takes you out of the movie.

  • @DavidTRichard Yeah exactly, or I miss an important 5 seconds of action because i'm reading someone helling out while attacking haha. no but at leaste we get cool ass/cheesy movies like these XD

  • @DavidTRichard For you maybe, but for me, being from a country where all foreign movies (and that means most movies I watch) are subbed, it's not a problem.

  • where can i find this!?

  • So are they going to at least release the DVD with English subtitles?
