I was born here back in 1964..when i was 7 months old..I was adopted by an Air Force couple who were station at or near the Lages Air Force base..By the time i turned 2 yrs old..I left Portugal and moved on to another country.(Japan)..Now that I'm 46 yrs old..I've always wonder about where i came from..My Dad said back in 64 when he adopted me..the island Terceira was 12 miles wide and 33 miles long..and 5 dollars went a long long way back then!!

I was stationed at the ASWOC/TSC in the early 80's. Great memories of George the Crook, Garcas restaurant and the lake in the mountains. Beautiful! I'd love to go back for a visit but I'm afraid many of my old haunts won't be there. Of course, It could never be the same without George doing his magic tricks!

@afriqueart George and I became good friends.He started out shinning shoes on base,borrowing a coin for his magic trick,and you'd never see it again.LOL I still have one of his buisness cards. I was sad to learn he passed away.

I was stationed at Lajes Field in the early 70's. Lived off base in Pria de Victoria. Loved the people,food,bullfights,fiestas­,the whole atmosphere. I'm going back for a visit one of these days.

father work as a ticket agent at an airport

people used to cook food underground in the volcanic soil, there was a hurricane that made water run through the house. a underwater volcano pored steam from the ocean. .

I had such a wonderful time on Terceira in 2004. I met such great people, I love the Portugues.....I fear I'll never make it back there. The Wolf, festa de Praia, Sanjuaninas, Clube Naval, SAGRES, Absinto!....only a few of the memories I have.

GEorge hte Crooks died long years ago, and they closed the BAR. It was a bar in the Main street in Praia da Vitoria!

Podes crer! Este foi o meu primeiro, espero que de muitos... O Governo... lol. Em primeiro lugar, precisava abrir o espaço aéreo para as passagens serem mais baratas, que isto da era da TAP já enjoa. Infelizmente os Açores ainda são "Para Inglês ver"... Já para não falar dos vôos inter-ilhas. O que interessa é que a nossa terra é Lindaaa e felizes dos que a conhecem.
