It isn't at all from Prehistory. It's music of the Singing Mountain on the Dimensional Vortex in Chrono Trigger for Nintendo DS. Otherwise, the music appears on Prehistory only if you're playing Crimson Echoes.
@AslanisJc Do u know that if they kept Singing Mountain, Black Omen wouldn't have fit. I like the fact u can choose which era u can fight it. I would luv to explore Singing Mountain and it's caves.
Square Enix should have put this dungeon back in the DS release instead of giving us that god awful Lost Sanctum side quest. Every nightmare I have now somehow involves Mount Emerald.
When I first heard this song on the Chrono Trigger OST, I honestly thought that this song was from Actraiser. This song sounds like it belongs in Actraiser.
It was a dungeon in prehistory era that was removed.
Best guess, it was a sidequest area for Ayla to go with all the other character sidequests after you get the flying Epoch. Ayla doesn't get one, unlike everyone else.
That's the theme that wasn't used in first CT. In CT for Nintendo DS, where you have additional areas known as Dimensional Vortex, the one from Prehistory ends up with Frozen Cliffs and as a music for that area, they use Singing Mountain
This game one of the best compare to other RPG and I just wish this game went on forever because of the music and game play and traveling thru time is so epic. I have to still say the best RPG I had ever played with the most epic story line was XenoGears.
There's also a cool RPG-Maker game called "Mondschein" (means moonlight) which starts exactly with this song. This song has some kind of magic and a deep longing I can't really describe.
@sagesaria Before I beat Chrono Trigger, I downloaded an mp3 of this and guessed it was the song for the mountain. Crying shame they didn't think to use it for that.
@kaoz1024 No. Singing Mountain was an unused music track that remained resident in the game ROM, along with a second battle music. It was never implemented in the game.
Was anyone else disapointed that Singing mountain wasnt in the DS version, I thought with Squares past fanservice bonuses on the GBA FF's (such as Czar dragon in FF6) that it would be a definite shoe in for the bonus dungeon.
Sorry didnt say it clearly.... was talking about the area itself. i saw an earlier trailer showing one of the bonus dungeons opening up in the pre history era, and thought it would be the Singing mountain. Even though it would have been different to what it would have originaly been it would still be awesome to explore the area (though in away it would take away the mystery of the area like if sega remade sonic 2 with hidden palace)
Makes me wonder exactly what kind of awesomeness was in store for this game. I kinda imagine Singing Mountain being some sort of revealing of the future for Ayla's tribes or something.
Actually apparently the reason Singing Mountain was taken out is because they needed room for the black omen dungeon and this one actually held very little in the story line, so I doubt it could have been such a key event as the future.
It's located somewhere in Ayla's time. My theory of it is that's it's Death Peak in the past because we all know it's the mountain on the cover so It might be in the north in 6,500,000 BC, that's what I'm guessing.
i agree with it being death peak in 65,000,000 BC and i also think it wouldve been alyas true sidequest. notice how hers is much smaller in the game compared to everyone elses?
@Dant2142 I have to disagree on your comment. I personally think that Phantasy Star IV and Earthbound is the best 16 bit rpgs. Chrono trigger is still a hell of a game and deserves to be one of the best ever made.
@xxSkyangelxx Not just that, Chrono Trigger destroys the entire over hyped FF series. I like the series, but they never approached the perfection that was Chrono Trigger. It's a shame it was never expanded on after Cross.

It's a shame this was removed. Prehistory never got really fleshed out. If they could release this as DLC I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I don't understand why they bumped the piece off...
Though personally, I feel like it suits the Dark Ages more than the Pre-Historic era.
