Time signature is just counting, it's math. 3/4 and 6/8 are the same thing in the amount of space they take up but they can 'feel' different depending on you put emphasis on the notes. In 6/8 you are just dividing the 3 quarter notes in half and counting it out 1 2 3 4 5 6. The 2 4 6 in 6/8 would be the up beats of the 1 2 and 3 beats in 3/4 time. Each note is just a beat.. when music it is more upbeat you are literally putting emphasis on the up-beat.. rather than the downbeat.
@atl2maryland I confused the shit out of myself with time signature at first and math is one of best areas. It's just counting.. Whole notes last the longest, 32nd would be very short. It really is a must that you understand this because once you're aware of what you're doing as FAR as time thats when you can conciously experiment with different rhythm's.. everything note you play takes up a certain amount of space or time, and you can put emphasis on different beats.. which gives you feel.
He is in fact playing in 3/4 time. the 4/3 I beleive refers to polyrhthyms he is playing. So, he is playing groupings of four over a feel in 3/4. Or he is bullshitting it.
why does the denominator have to be even.....im can shred the drums but im surprised how much theory im lacking, i know what the top number means but whats up with the bottom one?
Its Too Fast I Cant Tell Which Is 3/4 Or 4/4!

@xxxslayerxxx666 Bottom is the length of the note.
1 = whole note
2 = half
4 = quarter
8 = eighth
16 = sixteenth
32 = thirty-second
(Ex. 7/16 is seven sixteenth notes in each measure)
Due to our logistical and systematic world, people would rather not count in odd numbers, it's just too hard. But then again... screw the world.

The bottom number signifies the count.
4=quarter notes
8=eighth notes
16=Sixteenth notes
