Like my first contest. I know it was awful sorry. I probably held the biggest one so far. I know i picked a terrible one. It wasnt my fault though. I'm hosting one again, and trust me. I'll pick the best one, because im going to find really good judges.

UPDATE:

I tried to find as many judges willing as possible when I made the contest (because I knew many wouldn't actually do it). I found 7 judges originally, but only 5 are actually doing it.

So this is what I'm going to do. Give judge 3 and judge 4 two more days to respond and finish. If they don't finish, I'll take whatever they have and make the result vid.

I apologize for the delay of the video, I was hoping by now (Sunday Night) that the judges would be done and I would compile their ratings and make the result vid. Meh...

Also, based on watching a few videos, we decided to add a comedy category and change Top 3 to Top 10.

There's a bit of disagreement from the judges for top 10, best flow/effects, and most creative. We all have different ideas on who should win... So, we'll try to settle on something and results will be up tommorrow.

And for a screen recorder, you can always download the ever popular HyperCam, it works quite well. Windows also has their own screen recorder called Windows Encoder, but it's a bit of a memory hog. And to edit the clips, you can use Windows Movie Maker, which is also free and comes usually is pre-installed on all computers using the windows operating system.

i've already pre-judged all of the entered vids. Official Judging will begin the day the contest ends and will be finished after about 1 day. The results video will be uploaded after 2 days or so from the contest's end.

So expect it done by April 5-ish.

Since there are so many awards available, if not much people join there may be an award available to everyone 'o.O so why not just make it like the top 5 overall, and forget all the other ones? If I was a judge, I would judge the video that has the most everything that you listed. The video that has the most flow, best effects, best trailer, all those you just posted.

But oh well, I submitted mine :P

However, the probability that a vegas/adobe user wins in any of the other categories (effects, overall, flow) is much more likely than a WMM user.

i have a question about effects, sony vegas has better effects than windows movie maker so i thought up of a good idea.

the winners will be based on these certian rules

-to be the 1st place winner is decided by the judges.

-to be the 2nd place winner can be the bes sony vegas effect

-and the 3rd could be the best windows movie maker 1

(all 3 winners are the same, not like 1st 2nd and 3rd, so this means they all have the same praise)

this is just a suggestion cause i use movie maker

An editors creativity will trump his tools any day. Having sony vegas is not a great tool unless the editor uses it effectively.

But I do like your idea. It will help WMM users feel like they are on a level playing field.. hmm

Ok the top 3 WMM vids will also be given awards. This will be a separate category and the vid being entered must explicitly say that it was made using WMM in description. Lying will result in immediate disqualification.

i dont really know...I was trying to render the original video but then it took 2hours and it says "error" so I recorded the video from the place where u could watch it in sony vegas..you know the one in the bottom right. so I recorded that and then I rendered the new clip..but it was so laggy...and what did u mean by the frame rate off?

oooh... that's not a very good idea ever :S

here are 2 main reasons not to do that

1. unsteady flow (usually because of running two high level applications; editing software and screen recorder)... this is probably what you meant by laggy

2. Less quality

I suggest that you try rendering it again using different settings... try a different codec or output container. Example: instead of .mp4, try .avi ... or just try rendering it again, but this time just leave the computer alone.

acholly it was laggy cuz my computer is laggy so when i recorded it, it went laggy--well my computer isnt that laggy but you know what i mean. you ALSO WOULDNT WANNA RENDER IT AGAIN--IT TOOK ME 2HOURS FOR THE FIRST AND IT SAID ERROR =_= 2HOURS WASTED... also i tried wmv, mov., mp4. and didnt work. yea besidesss the quality is hella good w/ HD
