  • you are so lucky you saw this song live, now i don't know if they'll ever tour again

  • ooooo i wanna catch in a song notes i dont hear yet, but i will when im gone

  • SHE`S NOT COMING BACK!!!! love the song!!! wuhhhhhhhh

  • ah wish u wouldve got the beginning of this...so amazing. i love the mp3 of this

  • Still an amazing song.

    Can't wait for the album

  • they just put this on their myspace today

  • This song is called "Pirate Blues" from Hell or Highwater. Cody wanted this cd to be stripped bare and have raw sounding music, to try to reach that ambient sound they have been pushing for. personally Hell or Highwater will be my favorite of the 3. This CD is basically 4 years in the making because they wrote some of these songs while TJ was still in the band..ex "Gates" you can find videos on Youtube from 2004 tittles "outro"

  • Also, consider reading the lyrics to Come Now, Sleep. You'll find a near-controversial amount of doubt in his lyrics.

    Example:

"If I make it to heaven

I may be as bloody as hell.

    Would you still take me?

I'm afraid that you might say,

"Depart from me, I never knew you."

    I'm in the wrong body.

    I must have stumbled in."

  • meaning that he is sinful and he is afraid he would be rejected by god.

  • Don't we hold some lyrics so dear because we can relate to them? Why, when someone writes words that relate to something so important for a lot of people, does it become irrelevant? Even more interesting, is the fact that if we can relate to it, it feels legit, and when we can't, it doesn't. But as you already said, how can we ever know anything?

  • And perhaps we should all stop breathing. It's mindless to the entire human race, and quite the procedure. It's impossible to judge someone's authenticity based upon the theme he is talking about, even if it has been done hundreds of times before. Do I dare suggest that you were not really raised Catholic and do not believe anymore, on the account that it has happened to many others before?

  • this cd is going to be phenominal. g.

  • you sleep in a bed for a giant

  • the drums n guitar are sick in this song!

  • shut up you homos! Just listen to the music

  • this is pretty rockin'.

  • hahah fuckin, jesus. one of my favourite bands but i dont want the whoel christian rock to become a trend. id rather hear about things cody found out for himself.

  • maybe that is something he found out himself.

  • he found jesus himself huh.

im not anti religion or anything, i was raised catholic.

but since when is it personal at all, you pray in church till the point it becomes procedure. Even if he feels like hes on another level with god, and its personal to him, its just not the same as listening to him writing about something he really experienced, words wise i just cant find it sincere, noone is sure of their faith, they cant be, you should be content with not knowing, so seems a little ignorant.

  • well idk where you got the idea that it isn't personal. christianity is very personal. its not just some thing where you have to waste your sunday morning in church and pray and read the bible and listen to a bunch of christian music. its waaaay more than that.

faith is being sure of what you cant see...so if youre not sure of your faith... is that really faith?

of course theres always that little doubt in you head but you have to keep believing.

  • you dont HAVE to do anything, everything we've learned to be truth came from extremely naive people, 50 years ago rock music was fuckin satan, and the government ran everything, a couple generations before that they were like pioneers? a few before that the dark ages. I think an atheist is as foolish as a preacher. but maybe im missing something these days, i used to feel differently towards this whole thing, but i just want to hear cody say something original he wrote, that could mean something

  • and who were those "naive" people?

dude... listen to their lyrics. both cds (and im sure their new one will be packed to) are PACKED with meaning and thoughts and diferent things cody has been through and what he got out of them is what you hear!

"I dont wanna know where id be without forgiveness brushing these adulterous lips."

  • He sang about his pops, that was sincere, but gates, the new song, once he gets into how great god is, i mean i get it, hes religious, but what you believe in isnt you whether you like it or not. Its easier living feeling like you can be forgiven for everything. The naive people are the parents of your grandparents' parents, somewhere a long the line we've become more liberal though, we dont know anything, and if you tell me your absolutely positive, youll feel your doing the right thing, naively

  • it wasn't just his dad he was singing about if thats what youre saying.

I think you can decide what and who you are! If he decides that he wants to live as a Christian and be a Christian and sing about it, then he can! What else is someone to believe in??

And the second half... About me being naive made no sense at all.

  • We;ve been raised to feel were doing the right thing when we say yes, and theres people like me asking questions as to why people believe. And by feeling like you did the right thing, that your absolutely sure, your doing that naively. The past two albums sure had a lot of religious undertones in the words but its getting ridiculous, when its not a point of personal experience its not a point, AND OFCOURSE HE CAN, he'll sing about whatever the fuck he wants to. Religion is not you.

  • That is definately not true. Idk about you but I have definately not been taught to "Just say yes" to Christianity and everything attatched; I was given a choice. Which makes more sense to you: the universe was MADE or the universe came from a big blob of mud in space. I chose my belief and i chose it for reasons that make sense.

And religion is not you. I know that. But religion MAKES you who you are.

  • Well what i mean is, what seems sensible to us could still be total bullshit, given where everything we think we know has come from. I just dont know thats all, and you should really read the theory of evolution, it doesnt say we evolved from mud or apes. I dont know at this point in my life and it just seems naive to me to think that anyone does, i hope im making sense. I am who i am because of where i came from, and what ive been taught by people, not a higher being. haha good talk though

  • It seems you're judging him as superficial on the basis that you can't relate. Would you prefer he cater to you, and what you experienced? I'm sure THAT would be the bullshit lyrics coming from his mouth.

Especially since you admit in other posts that our beliefs are based on experiences, and that your beliefs are different, it is conclusive that you probably have had different experiences.

  • Dude, have you thought that maybe it's not christian rock rather than Christians playing music.

The bible says use you talents(that God himself has blessed you with) to glorify God.

"Christian rock" in a way does not exist and perhaps it's just people, like you and me, singing, playing drums, playing guitar, playing bass, etc..

Its not trend, that's like saying preaching is a trend or evanglism is a trend.

  • Don't listen to people trying to spoon feed truth to you. Truth is something you have to search for. All these naive people you speak of had it handed to them. People just like you have searched for it themselves and ended up on the other side, believing these ideas of grace and faith.

  • they have come along way...

    gospel mosh!

  • I really wonder what it'll be like..

  • i love this! its not like anything from come now sleep (which is the best album ever written), but its a happier side of acb. i cannot wait for this album. =]

  • the song sounds different from Come Now Sleep's songs but the lyrics (from what i can make out of it) sound as awesome as ever. I like it, i can't wait for the new album to come out already geeeeez

  • lol at Colin reading all the signs :)

i love this song so much

  • oh my gosh, he is. that is hilarious!

  • ha i have wedneday church in tht room

  • that is way awesome

  • unimaginably perfect. my heart punded

  • I pretty much loved all of the new songs they played.
