Why does everyone call it "old Western State?" It was built long after the original buildings of Western State across the street. It was used as housing for the patients who weren't dangerous that kept up the grounds of the park until someone decided it was unfair for mentally disabled people to be used for labor. I'm sure they enjoyed the excercise and freedom though. The proper name in hospital historical records is "The White House on the Hill"
