Psychology in today's day in age is actually very much a poison because it's trying to make dogma more easily acceptable to the masses as a result of labelling all forms of defiant, eccentric, unique behaviors that aren't even necessarily causing harm to the rest of society as 'disorders'. In face of ODD, ADHD, and the like - these are not disorders, these are human expression in face of a dysfunction found in society, not the human being. Fix the society, that's where the real problem is.
i have O.D.D and ADHD and OCD and my mom can tell me to do something and ill listen but when my dad does i look at him like he is a dum dum and its because of the way he tell me how to do something and im /19 and still feel that way about my dad
Well look, defiance for the sake of defiance is one thing - but defiance of rules that are illogical or based 100% on opinion or beliefs is not necessarily a disorder. If a child is breaking things or acting out against his or her parents simply to defy them, then that is a problem. But if your child disagrees with, perhaps, your religious beliefs and chooses to not follow rules that you set up because of your personal religious beliefs, then that is not a disorder, it is a person growing up.
what if he is ten years old, do i need to tip toe around him? he treats me like garbage and i try to be nice and positive but he just tells me he hates me.
So, basically. You are saying that it is psychological not neurological. If that is the case then it is not a disorder. ODD From my understanding can be caused by many things. It can come along with ADD, ADHD,(at least 6 different types) Bipolar disorder. all of those as you know are caused by not having enough production of Dopamine and Nor- epinephrine in the brain. Those are surely neurological. If one can just change the approach in speaking to solve the problem, then it is not a "Disorder"
What I mean is, it is not a psychological disorder, but rather neurological disorder. It's hard to treat this with just changing the way you speak. The whole world is not going to talk to a person with ODD the same way. They may not be defiant to a person who knows how to speak a certain way, but what about the ones who don't.
I believe it may be a sensory perception problem, or the way that something is taken. Highly sensitive perhaps, and don't like to be told what to do on any level.
WOW So how do I put this. Josh is kind of a renegade psychiatrist isn't he. I cant help but think about how defiant he is in regard to the status quo of his industry/profession. He even said himself that he was defiant as a youngster. I would think that defiance that runs through his veins is partially responsible for the success he enjoys today. Being defiant to authority is not a bad thing at all. it leads to entrepreneurs, revolutionary's, inverters, and bringers of change. MLK had O.D.D
This has rather humorous consequences for the study of history, doesn't it? French revolution, Russian revolution, Spanish revolution etc. etc. all the fault of some "delinquents". Hilarious. youre a faggot josh!
This is exactly what any kids needs. It's not a disorder. Every child needs limits and discipline and those things have been extremely out of favor for the last 25 years. Not surprisingly we end up with scared, chaotic and angry children looking for an adult to love them enough to give them rules and stick with them.
O_o I was so drawn in by how you spoke that I had to watch this video a second time. Where do people learn to communicate, or convey a topic so fluently and precisely as you just did? Do you have an English major? Or do those courses in public speaking you hear about actually work?
Because I can't even talk like that when I'm alone. =D
The violence and stealing aspects of 'ODD' may be actual problems, but many are diagnosed and medicated for simply not doing as they are told, regardless of whether they are trying to harm others or not.
Ugh, I'm really tired of this stuff (been looking through videos on the subject) Listen, you and everyone else who thinks defiance is a bad thing: No human being should ever have to do something he or she does not want to do, otherwise we can't call our society free. And some kids who're 'rebellious' as you say might-just a crazy thought here- have an actual moral objection to being controlled by someone else.

Your message is right on target. Don't demand a kid do something, ask him/her "how are you going to handle this"? Your very helpful, thank you
