@joffryvangrondelle I recorded this song in my basement. I sang the vocal parts myself after I recorded the brass. I use a multi-layering technique and listen back to the layers I have recorded as I sing in, or play new parts.
Doei,..... say Hi to Holland for me, I miss visiting it.
well you did a good job ;-) its hard to find videos of psalm singing in english or french language. Most pslams singing videos are found of dutch or german origin at Youtube. But I like to hear how the Genevan psalms are sung in other languages like french and english.
I hope to get Suzanne Haik-Vantoura's Hebrew version up on my channel (teamim) in the near future, time and health permitting. If you like this, you should like that too. :) Meanwhile, I'm saving this version to one of my Playlists.

That was awesome... I have been wanting to record some of my own utilizing a few Psalters including the Genevan Psalter.. Can I ask how you recorded and what you used, Software, Instruments, Hardware, etc? Great Job!
I would highly encourage you to do some recording, and do post it here for me to enjoy. This site needs more psalter recordings.
I use a program called Cubase4 and I have a collection of mics and a small 8 channel mixing board from MAudio. I used some of my brass to record the background music (see my Abide with Me video)
I recorded in the brass one at a time always listening to what I have played in before on my head phones and then when that was done I sang in the parts one at a time in the same manner. I had a very hard time singing in the alto line.
Thank you, I do wish to do more but my studio laptop died and I am having troubles getting it all to work again. But do look back here in a few weeks if you wish,... I may have more videos up.
Just curious, is the tune of this psalm only recently composed or has been used since Calvin's time in Geneva.
I have compare the lyrics with my Scottish psalter 1650 it is very different, the Genevan Psalter is more of a paraphrase version. Am i right to say that ?
Well I am not too studied on music history, but from what I have gathered Louis Bourgeois wrote the tune, to what I assume would be French lyrics, in about 1550. The Dutch some time later adapted most/all of the Genavan tunes and translated them to Dutch, and now of course we have then in English as well.
Not having seen/heard the original tunes, I am yet under the impression that the Dutch have changed the timing and setting of these tunes.
As for whether it is paraphrased a lot or not, I am not too sure. I think they have done a good job, as far as the languages would allow with still finding words to rhyme.
Some of the other people who have commented may know more....
Tens of thousands of French Huguenots fled to the Protestant Netherlands in the 16th & 17th centuries from religious persecution.....many French family surnames became Dutch.....or German.....and then British...moreover....the Royal Dutch House of Orange had French roots......and all of these connexions....and more....brought the Genevan Psalm Tunes & Lyrics to the Netherlands.....the United Kingdom.....and North America
They did change the timing. In fact in many traditional Dutch Churches they are still sung isorythmically (on whole notes), but they/we did not change the setting.,
@TheLordAwaked are there song books that sing directly from the KJV word for word?

@TheLordAwaked no it is paraphrased from the KJV (which we use in our services) in order to get it to rhyme and fit the timing.

A beautiful Huguenot Genevan Psalm, it could be our ethnic anthem!
