  • I have a floating trem... But i want to tune it to like drop c or b how can i do it?

  • Shouldn't this be titled "how to change strings"?

  • what if the trem falls into the cavity

  • NM, just saw the D'addario .009 plug

  • Can I ask, what kind of strings are you using here?

  • something that an ibanez guitar needs is lip balm.. lol u put it in the edges where the trem moves up and down so u have to take the trem out ( apply lip balm on both edges) kinfe edges i use a tooth pick to put it on please thumbs up tihs commet if it works for you

  • I like that jig or bench extension that you rest the guitar upon, does those thing have a name? I would love to have the measures, or some images to try to make one, seems like a real good idea to have the guitar like that when doing stuff. :)

    great video thanks

  • my trem set excactly the same as in this video for some reason no matter what i do the when i use the trem it always returns out of tune WHY??? piece of shit.

  • ok, im getting a Ibanez with this trem, but i also use DUNLOP HEAVY CORE strings, Gauge from e-E is 12,16,,20,32,42,54. and i want to add these to the guitar, can i just tighten the bolts in the back? or must i add a spring or change stuff? cause i HATE 0.09 strings, i break them no matter what brand. PLEASE help me! any1!

  • Got an ibanez with an edge zero trem. Worst purchase ever. The pickups are awful, and the trem is a major nuisance. Going back to a TOM bridge for sure!

  • I can seem to reach the Arm tension screw... how do you adhust that screw? I want to tighten it just a little.

  • it allways goes out of tune when i use the wammy on my edge 3 trem how do i fix it

  • bullshit it takes hours to fuckin tune

  • How to you fix fret buzz?

  • Block of wood my friend...

  • Rubbish.

  • 3:02 insert ur penis there

do it and save a kitten from shelter

  • 4:22-4:23 epic string twang!

  • I have an Ibanez RG 1570 with edge Pro Bridge. I have elixir .10 strings on it but i want tot change 'em to Ernie Ball strings .10. So i need to change any stuffs with the bridge or its the same setup with the Elixir?

I hva another problem not big but.... so my tuning is a little flat 10 cents in the tuning meter. But the sound is clear. I cant tune it to perfect. If i tight en the spring screws its repairs this problem?

  • @Shazeen82 it won't happen anything if they are the same gauge (0.10)

  • can you help me out? i just bought an ibanez rg and i need to adjust the trem.

i changed the strings using 009. 042 d addario strings and the trem is still raised a little. only when i tune down half step it brings the trem to normal. is there something wrong with the springs in the back?

  • @bjchiniki you need to tighten the springs on the back of your guitar to bring the bridge down.

  • what name thes guitar is rg rgr or what?????????

  • does anyone know what size trem bar i would need for a BC RICH WARLOCK Platinum pro?

  • does this work when i try to tune a ibanez grg170dx?

  • @fbgirl114 No, your guitar doesn't have a Floating tremolo and therefor does not need this video.

  • @fbgirl114 you guitar does not have a floating trem, so if you want to change strings the process will be diferent

  • hi i just got an ibanez with this bridge and it keeps on getting outta tune i tried tightening the strings but that didn't seem to work...help?

  • ok so i go to guitar center and i tell them i whant a .009 gauge strings they will give me the right ones for my guitar wich is an IBANEZ RG5EX1 or what srings should i get

  • @RG5DX1 Yea. Watch out when lock the strings in. Don't tight them too hard cause it will wear them out. I had to buy new ones For some reason the 6th and 5th lock wont lock! Im still learning how to do this stuff. Tremolo bars can be a pain in the ass sometimes...

  • @megaluisdeth not only that, if you overtighten you can actually pull on the strings and cause the pitch to raise, making your guitar go out of tune slightly. The micro tuners on the bridge can fix that, but I'd rather save the room for the actual adjustmens you need :D

  • @RG5DX1 just ask for a set of "9's"... 9-42 is normal 9's. 9-46 is another somewhat common string combo as well. But through an electric with distortion, string thickness isnt as important.

  • thats weird with my floyd rose licensed trem its like i have to overtighten it to get the string to even stay in :P

  • He didn't cover intonation.......

  • also THE best video demo ive seen on the edge3. very very good, hit on a lot of points others floated over----pun intended

  • @strutt77 I get it.lol

  • Thanks! This helped me out a lot actually :)

  • This is not TREMOLO, ITS a fucking VIBRATO

  • ibanez and jackson are great metal guitars! :)

  • @scatered1 Amen to that!

  • I'm a little confused, I thought that when you tune your guitar you had to have it level with your body, Not lying flat on its back because when you go to play it gravity will pull the strings out of tune?

  • @youoldduffer hahaahahaaaa you are funny, lol gavity pull string down..

  • @HmongGuitarPlayer

Then tune your guitar on its back then, check the tuning when you have it in the playing position and you'll find its out of tune

  • @youoldduffer gravity not strong enough to pull string down, trust me on that.

  • @HmongGuitarPlayer Gravity affects everything my friend, But what I mean is when you tune your Guitar on its back and then put it in the playing position you will be out of tune, Because when you rest your guitar that way tension (caused by gravity lol) will bend your neck slightly . Thats why I was confused as to why he's doing it that way.

  • @HmongGuitarPlayer ..its not gravity pulling the strings down when tuned while the neck is resting on a surface.....its the weight of the guitar bowing the neck into a slight U, then when picked up, the tuning will be sharp b/c the neck will hopefullt be straight again. Gravity may not affect the couple of grams that strings weigh BUT gravity will most certainly have an affect on a 7 lbs guitar. Trust that.

  • @strutt77 will i was right than.gravity will not effect tuning, only effect the weight of the whole guitar,if you drop it.

  • been here done that!!!.. good vid beautiful guitar!!

  • Bravo ... Very nice lesson. It answered all my questions. Thanks so much!

  • @hooty29340 cool video and guitar hey i have an edge 3 trem bridge its brnad new my only issue i get the low e saddle virbrating alot and everything is tight do you have any tips on how to fix this ?

  • @mikesgtrs1 Possibly, I remember reading about that and it said that (my ibanez) it was set up at the factory to use a set of 9's string set. If you went with thicker strings you would most likely hear buzzing and such where you had no problem before. That is all I know. I know that is not the solution you are wanting (changing it to a thinner string) but it's all I have for ya. Maybe there is another in here that has the magic fix. Speak up!

  • @hooty29340 thanks bro yeah i use heavy uage strings for tone , but the issue wasnt there before until 3 days ago i my have to go lower - thanks mate

  • anyone else think those dive bombs in the beginning were cool anyways..

cool cool great vid.. it helped me alot, for the folks confused this is where u need to be..

  • this video is not specific enough....

  • you didn't say anything about setting up intonation....

  • how do u reset the tremolo??? mines stickin way up and i cant get it tuned

  • @Ballbreaker987 un tune it,set to fine tunners to about a meduim point or all the way up,ur choice, and the brigde should be down now, now tighten the springs in the back to the tunningu wannt, if you want standard put them pretty far up, i find it easier to put in drop D, so i did, i have the edge 3 btw,i dont know what u have but that hows i do mine.

  • Thanks a lot for the help Really appreciate it. :)

  • how do you level the trem if you change to gauge 11 cuz i know u have to have 4 springs in the back but is it those 2 screws that level the trem ????

  • @joydivisionrule

I wouldn't recommend putting .11's. That's not good for this type of bridge, considering how shitty they are (Edge 3 bridge). You would have to level the bridge (spring tension MUST EQUAL bridge tension, otherwise, you're fucked with tuning) using those two screws back there. Block your trem, tune to the tuning you're trying to get to, and, unblock the bridge. If you feel no resistance, it's leveled. If you do feel it, loosen the screws very VERY slightly unti no resistance.

  • I didn't watch any videos before hand and took all the strings off. I've put them back on and now I'm having trouble tuning it? what should I do?

  • just take it to a music store thats near you and have them do the work for you, then after they've done that, they might explain to you why you shouldn't take all the strings out at one shot, and why its easier to do it one by one. and when you're comfortable with htat, just follow what this guy did with changing the strings, if not, just get new strings, and bring it back to the music store and ask them.

  • Redo it just like the video.

  • @NathanAre

You have to re do the setup on your trem, because you messed up the position. Take it to a music shop if you don't know how to do it, and have them teach you. Set up's don't cost much usually around $50.

  • floyd rose FTW :)

  • Agreed! I have an OFR and compared to the Edges ive played, it just eats them alive...

  • I have this exact guitar. Ibanez RG4EXQM1.

This tremolo is absolutely terrible, and doesn't stay in tune at all. I routed out the trem cavity a little and put in a cheap licensed floyd, it completely solved the problem.

  • How do you re level the trem??

  • are you talking about action or just the whole bridge

  • I just hope my RG350DX ibanez doesn't have this stupid floating trem, its annoying...

  • as long as you buy the strings that match the gauge i recommend super slinky strings

  • i got that too

  • i have an ibanez jump start package

haha it's a nice guitar, hehe where could i buy that bridge with fine tuners

and could i assemble it in my guitar or should i let the ibanez technicians do the job?

and could they also replace my guitar frets?

  • @musikobk83

They don't commercially sell Ibanez Tremolo systems. Every locking bridge has fine tuners. If you're asking whether you should do or not, don't, you'll fuck it up based on your knowledge. An Ibanez Lo Pro or an Ibanez Edge pro is probably the same cost as your guitar, adding the labor would almost double it. If you want a good locking bridge, buy it on a guitar that has it. Ibanez's that have Edge Zero,s Pro's, or Lo Pro's cost in the $800+ range.

  • 0:17 - 0 :18

    edge pro 3 ???

  • trying to sell the guitar with lies XD

  • my ibanez rg 350 ex is great !!!!

    love edge 3 !!!

  • i plan on getting an ibanez rg350dx with a trem... i use 11's on my guitars will it mess it up?

  • the 11s will require a little adjusting but not much different gauges don't mess up the tremolos you will wanna use heavier gauges for lower tunings

  • what if you set the foating trem to a drop tuning like drop C? will you need to re set the tremolo? cuz wont the tremolo be pointing up cuz its a looser tuning? how would you fix this?

  • why do we have to use 0.009 mm strings???

  • The guitars are set up to 'float' with 9's, or basically set so that the trem system is parallel to the guitar body. (5.45) If you changed to 10's then the strings extra tension would pull the trem system forward and cause the tremelo to point upwards. (6.06) You would have to re-set he trem flat to the body by adjusting the 2 trem spring screws behind the back plate or adding another trem spring.

  • @NevadaMusicUK is that Edge Pro 3 better than the ZR bridge? I've read complaints that their whammy bar socket snaps and breaks off. what do you think? I wanted to buy an S series Ibanez, but I'm worried about the cons.

  • @jasonism123 They fixed the socket breaks. The ZR is considered on of the best trems out there. It stays in tune as well as an original floyd. The edge iii to most people is the worst trem because of the cheap materials used

  • @Grecian92 you mean, they fixed it by making the ZR2 bridge, right? but what about the original ZR? I was planning to buy the Ibanez s570, but I've read several complaints/disadvantages..even here in youtube, some users have bad experiences with the ZR bridge..I can't afford to buy the ZR2, because that's only featured on the S prestige/RG prestige models.

  • @jasonism123 Any ibanez made in 2010 has the new zr trem with the fixed arm socket. Google it if you don't believe me. You would get all the info you need

  • @NevadaMusicUK, you cannot add springs and if you try adding a higher gauge of strings, the string saddles will wear WAY faster. Once it starts wearing, your strings will start breaking faster as the strings vibrate and cause these little chasms in the saddles to scratch against the string.

  • @NevadaMusicUK i hate the fact that you cannot add more than 3 springs. for me its a severe handicap!!

  • @NevadaMusicUK Hi i have a question for you .

I just bought a new Ibanez Rg 350 MZ with the ZR system , i like to do some pull ups so if i remove it , the guitar will go out of tune ?

You´d help me a lot with this one

  • @RNevesPT you dont have to you would just need to reset the trem

  • @RNevesPT
