This isn't going to work...at least for the short term, algae is the answer. Grows the fastest, no gnenetic engineering, produces biofuel without further process or fermentation.
That's right, Aeroscope, you should tell them how it's done. Why are we wasting $billions on researching alternative fuels when algae is clearly the answer? The oil companies are going out of business as we speak! These dumb scientists are clueless!
Biofuels are teh suck & people who are avid supporters of biofuel as a solution to the fuel shortage and pollution are annoying, it's like "oh sure let's cut down all the fuckin forest that are absorbing the problematic gases in order to grow more corn that'll add to the problem so we can get very little energy out of the process & increase the price of the food plants used in the process when being purchased for food". Anyway, yeah it's a good field for study but not an applicable replacement
I would like to remind you that the compressed air car has been invented and it is supposed to locally sell in USA in 2010. It is cheaper to use than anything and emits no pollution.

Water for fuel should be our goal. Not growing more crops but use the resource that is abundant on our small planet.

fuel from algae, that is the future.
