Thank you for the very nice video. Question: when you pre-infuse, is the water being introduced into the group head via only boiler pressure or is there a pump that is activated and pumps water in under pressure?
Still deciding on a grinder. I was noticing with a grinder that has a doser, like what Chris was using when preparing a shot with the Izzo Alex Duetto ii, you can groom excess grounds back into the doser. How do you calibrate the Vario so that you grind just enough to prevent waste since you don't have a doser to groom into?
The Vario is super nice! I was recently looking at the Mazzer Mini E Type A & B. For close to $1,000.00 I would imagine it's better built than the Vario. However, I doubt I will be making espressos for that many people to warrant a commercial grinder. The Vario-E comes out in another month supposedly but it can't accomodate a portafilter.
I didn't know the Izzo group was located in Naples. My grandfather was born in Bari, Italy so maybe I should purchase an Izzo instead of a Rocket Giotto! How do you like the Baratza Vario?
I personally like the Vario for home use. The grind quality is very good, adjust-ability is simple and infinite, and I really like the three programmable timed grind settings.
what sized tamper do you use for that machine?
