Elliott Smith inspired you to do this cover? You look like you should be more familiar with The Kinks' version judging by your age. Hadn't you heard the song before?
Sure, I knew the Kinks back then... but I didn't have money to buy a record.
And also, I for one, don´t think that everything was better in the old days.... new talent is always coming up, so I keep listening to the pulse of time.
no matter who does this song it always sounds good, because Ray Davies can't write a bad song. God save the kinks. Ray to this day is still the supreme songwriter of all time!
the intro is clear but i would also like to know the chords you play the verse and chorus, would be great if you could post them to me or make another tutorial video.
Okay, I´ve just completed another tutorial via the onboard camera/microphone on my iMac. The audio/video quality is not so good, but I guess you should be able to pick up the cords. I will post the tutorial shortly - above. Good luck!
Thankyou for your tutorial, very clear and precise, 5*****! Yes, for sure,I shall post this great song on ytube, and also add this to my busking list.
You are a very good teacher. Have you thought of doing tutorials as part of your ytube vids because you would get a good response from others who are learning.
Anyway friend, from a rainy England i wish you the best and look forward to your new vids. Keeponkeepingon.
Mhmmm? Lets see... I used a capo on the 3rd fret.. In this position I played open chords... the intro is played on the strings g,b,e... can you try to figure that out by ear? Wait I´ll try to post a little video for you, okay. See above!
i thankyou again for your efforts. thankyou so much for sharing. your new video has made things easier for me as i have'nt been playing guitar so long. I award you 5 stars ***** brother!
BEAUTIFUL! Wow! The guitar work is wonderfulCOULD YOU PLEASE DO ANOTHER VERSION OF THIS WITH YOUR FRET HAND SHOWING FOR US AMATEUR GUITAR PLAYERS?
This song makes me so sad, but I can't stop listening to it. Side thought: If someone were to make a move of Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow. This song should be in it.
Did anyone else start crying or am I just a big baby?
Well, thank you for the compliment, but to say the truth, I had to change the key and used a capo so that I could sing the whole range, Ray Davies has a higher voice than I do. I had to try several times to get it right. Now my wife tells me, I should not draw the notes so long, keep them shorter... otherwise the mood gets too drearily. I tried that and indeed... I might try a an alternate version.
Thank you, I try to adapt the recording situation (on a simple level) to the songs I do... in this case I also tried to influence the lighting by putting a yellow tinted foil in front of my reading lamp..... greetings
You look like Benjamin Franklin, and that makes me happy. Nice job with the cover :)
