wiered..when you watch 'Cliff 'em all', Kirk Hammet is the proffessional and Dave Mustaine, is the drunk angry amateur who really was no comparisson to Kirk....Seems as though Kirk did not progress over the years and is the weakest link in Metallica for it. @cartman316815 Kirk only took like 10 lessons from Satriani over 3 years. He was hardly a student. He learned a couple of techniques at best. Plus lets be honest, James has ALWAYS been the main riff writer for Metallica. Also, I never saw Kirk have trouble with Blackened or Battery, which are way more rhythm intensive songs. He obviously got the hang of it.

Heres something to think about. This happens often. One band member has proper musical training. One band member is self taught and has little to no musical training. So it is much hard for the member with no training to explain what they hear in thier head. This point is proven when he is trying to explain to Kirk how the riff goes. James can't count the rythm, cuz he doesn't know how, he can only say Ba Ba DADA BABA. Not 1 @A 2 E@A 3@A 4@A, so it just takes longer. Take guitar lessons....
