We love all Guinea Fowl. Check out our Guinea Fowl's new hit song, 'Dont call me a Turkey" on MyAniMovies You Tube Channel. Happy Thanksgiving from MyAniMovies
Were having a big Flea/Tick problem were getting our Guineas this Sunday we were going to get 6 but after viewing this video and hearing how loud they are my Mom changed he mind we are now getting 4
@BLASTD20 Haha, they are about as annoying as roosters. Although if you have a whole bunch of them, it seems they never stop making noise. 4 is a good number of them, I would not get more than about ten though. I used to have over 25, but brought the flock down to 5. I rarely hear them now, as they are free-ranging. And yes, they are really good for ticks. I'm not sure about fleas, I haven't looked up about if they eat them or not.
UGH... Mine buckwheat buckwheat ALL DAY LONG...... It really is annoying! I hope they eat ten times their weight in ticks this spring or they are going bye bye... They never shut up except at night when roosting in trees!!!!!
@karenmac2 Yes, they are good tick eaters. My dog would have several ticks on him before the guineas came along. I would be pulling ticks off him left and right throughout the summer. Now, I'll see maybe two or three on my dog in a summer. Quite an improvement I'd say, so I hope your quineas do the same for you, but even better. ^-^
@sidormartykrofft I'm not sure what you mean. The feathers on the neck of the guinea fowls do not have much speckling on them, but the rest of the body is covered in little lighter colored pokie dots. You can't see it as much, but even my off color white guineas have pokie dots on them. They're just hard to see in this video. :)
Now, I'm not sure about chickens like the leghorn. Maybe they bred them not to have speckles on them. Thank you, I'm glad you like these birds, they are cute! :)
@sidormartykrofft You're making a good point regarding domestication as responsible for the feather pattern. However, the real answer lies on cammouflage, since this species was introduced from Subsaharian Africa. (Which makes them "African-American"... Don't call them 'n*ggers'. LOL).
They are really are adorable! We are going to buy a farm next year, and I really want some keets, but I'm still learning about them. Do you house your guineas in the same coop with the chickens? I can see that they are all perfectly happy to forage together in your video.
@longtail4711 Aw, I'm happy for you~! I pray everything goes well.
Yes, we keep them in the same barn at night. They are comfortable with the chickens, and they seem to enjoy the company. I love guineas myself, but a lot of people think they are too noisy.
If you have any questions about them, I will try my best to answer you. ^-^
@killer7582 Females make the sound that is heard in my video. Only the females make that sound, so this is how you identify the females. Also, I have noticed that usually the wattles and the horn on top of their head run smaller in the females, though this is not always the case.
If you have any other questions, I'll be glad to answer them. :)
@killer7582 Its true what AoiChan said but the male ALWAYS the helmet is taller ,thicker, and more of a stair appear to it the fea,ale waddles are smaller and not as flaired out and the females helmet has way more of a noticable slant to it and the males cal has a loudcrak crak crak crak crak sound to it while the female has the buck wheat buck wheat buck wheat sound.
@burning1up No, it's not constant. Mine usually make that sound if their group has split up, they are hungry, or their baby keets are not close enough for them to be at ease. It usually lasts 15 seconds to a minute. I hope this helps you. :)
@Gyarren We started out with 6, but snakes got two of them. There was one female, and 3 males, she had two bunchs of keets last year, so.... they do expand their numbers fast. :3
my mom accidentaly killed one when she was little with a stone, it was yakking away at her and she just picked up a stone and threw it....and it dropped dead.....Oopps O.O
We have 3, one confirmed female due to one egg unsure of the other 2. And they dont shut up!! lol loud little beggers right outside our bedroom window at sunrise!
It's Skeksis!

My aunt Jean has guinea fowl, I think. They're such interesting birds. They can roost in her big pine tree next to her house.

why is it the feathers of some birds like guinea fowl are white instead of the speckled pattern? is it something to do with domestication?
besides that, great video! i've always found these birds so cute
