@zeekzilch Its a 747 video but presently on London-Delhi route British Airways is using a Boeing 777-300ER. Also British Airways is having a 3 Boeing 777-300ERs on its fleet and they are operated on London-Dubai, London-Mumbai, London-Delhi and London-Chicago routes and next year British Airways is scheduled to receive a 4th Boeing 777-300ER. Plus British Airways has ordered 24 Boeings 787 Dreamliner and 12 Airbuses a 380.
Thank you for the clarification and interesting information! I understand Boeing just flew a newer, larger version of the 747 - how does it compare to the newest/largest Airbus?
@zeekzilch Yes I know its a 747-8 and its smaller but its longer than a 380. But also British Airways have none off them on order but Lufthansa has ordered 20 Boeings 747-8.
Do you recall if the first row has their own TV screens? I couldn't tell from this vid. I'm flying on a British 747 pretty soon and want to reserve front row seats in the economy cabin, but I don't want to do it if I don't have my own screen.
@pitar821 They have the tray tables and the screens in the armrests, which means the armrests are immovable, but I've never found that a problem, even in a standard row.
@planeboy737 Bear in mind that BA haven't had AVOD for all that long, especially on older aircraft like the 747s, and on its 777-200 it very good! Good size screen, really good selection of new release movies and TV shows, and loads of audio CDs. It does its job: I don't want to pay £40000 just for the privelege of games and other stuff like that on my PTV. BA's IFE is perfectly adequate for the purpose, and it's the best I've had.
@Theaterfreak. Well if BA is the best you have had then you have not flown :L Try Singapore Airlines who has one of the best entertainment systems in the world. BA's new avod is ok. But... IT BREAKS DOWN SO EASILY! It should hopefully work on the new 77W's though :D
@planeboy737 I don't need to fly on every single airline in the world. Singapore Airlines would be the best because, and no offense intented, but it is necessary for the Chinese to be the best at everything. BA AVOD does certainly NOT break down easily; I have flown a lot on BA and it has never broken down for me or my father, who flies more or less every week. It worked on my 8 hour flights from LGW to MCO and back and on all the other flights I've been on: like I said, it serves its purpose.
Chinese? What are you on about?Singapore airlines is based in Singapore not China idiot! There are plenty of other Airlines that have better systems than BA.One that is definatly better is Air Canada which I have used many many times and has some very good choices. And that is on ALL of their a/c like A320's, 77W's etc!The only exception is the smaller aircraft of their fleet. And also not all of the BA fleet has avod i.e 767 Yes High Life Entertainment serves it's purpose but it's not world class!
No, it is not a DVD player but it offers all kinds of movies, music, and information videos. What makes it nice is you can watch a major movie independent of all the other passengers and even place it on pause if you have to leave your seat for awhile. I especially like the airplane tracking feature that constantly shows how high and fast you're going over a map of the area.

I believe the front row does have their own screen but it folds out from the side somewhere - I don't recall for sure. Have fun on your flight!

it was world traveller, they dont use pink headrest covers in WTP
smiliesbw 2 years ago
@smiliesbw All the headrest covers were blue when I flew, but that was in a 777. I suppose it depends on the plane and the route?
