I'm making an earth animation, on after effects too, but i dont know how to get the camera angle in the position i want. That means from the side of the earth... :( PLz answer
@NobleSun1 it was one of my first video ever made. Simply follow videocopilot's tut BLUE PLANET and try to do your own version, change camera angles, colors, etc.. good luck
@electrosec Actually if the cam is moving the same speed of the earth, you have the illusion the sun is moving, actually like we see in the sky everyday.
@weip however the stars in the BG arent moving so that means the camera isnt moving = electrosec has a point... but still thumbs up for the nice visual fx
It's all about perspective. The earth is most likely moving. But just an FYI, the Sun does not stay perfectly still. By no means does it move like that, but it IS moving.
@itookapissinyourtea Andrew shows how to make cool effects in his tutorials. Try going to his website (see: vid description) and check out the tutorials section.
this isn't realistic . all this part of the surface of the earth should be in the night because the sun is behind.... this is good work none the less, and i like it .
That's pretty nice. I appreciate you compositing different Blue Marble textures. However the shadow on Earth is wrong. Towards the end of the clip it seems the Sun should be on the far left side of the screen. I understand what you're trying to show and if you want it to be 'artistic' leave it as it is, but if you want it to be realistic you might need to correct that 'cause some people will notice it.
Try holding a round or round-ish object (e.g. any kid of a ball, an orange or an apple) between yourself and a source of light, preferrably in dark conditions. Hold it so that the object completely covers the light source from your view. Now note that what you see is the 'dark side' - the side of the object you're facing is all in shadow. Now if you move the object to the right you'll start seeing the bright side but not as much as the vid shows. It's just a matter of artism vs. realism I guess.
Mr. Wikipedia says: 'Adobe After Effects is a digital motion graphics and compositing software published by Adobe Systems. Its main purpose is for film and video post-production.'
If you want to strictly edit your footage (I assume that's what you mean by saying 'movie maker') I think that Adobe Premiere Pro is better. Although it can do some effects as well, for visual effects AE is the best. They're both powerful tools in the hands of a skilled artist but designed with a different use in mind.
is there more?
