I dont think you can record on the PS3 or PSP as surveillance. You can record video in general but you'd run out of room recording all the time. However connecting to the PC there are many options, such as Webcam Monitor 5.2 for surveillance. The unfortunate part is not all surveillance applications wil even see the PS3 Eye.

While a useful thing to know, the irony is that if you need a surveillance camera to watch your house in case of theft or whatever, chances are they stole your PS3 xD

haelis has a good point. that and you can't activate it unless someone turns it on and goes to remote play. how far away can you use remote play from anyway. you would think that if you use the "connect via internet" option it would work as long as your ps3 and psp were connected to a wireless network, but im not very smart in this kind of stuff. its still awesome though.

Just get a super juiced up pc and some webcams and have fun... They have motion detectors so you could see if someone is moving outside your house at a time index. It records all movements. I can't wait to get mine ^_^ I love to see what goes bump in the night :P. I saw a rabit once on my dad's camera I aimed outside lol
