dont see the point of it , as long as you get a 90 degree from one corner ,tile spacers do the rest , having the GTL3 standing on the floor , its bound to get knocked and covered in glue lol
quickest and best is to use plastic tile cross spacers. i was shocked when i saw that here in uk they dont use them, and walls looks terrible, if we did such terrible job in lithuania we just could get underpaid on unpaid at all. expensive materials should be fited 100percent acurate
The way I see it is that you could try many potential layouts (center on tile, center on joint, center of room, center of doorway, etc, etc) and you would not get confused by having 10 different chalk lines snapped on a floor. It would also be an advantage shooting a perpedicular line from a kitchen down a hallway where you could never do a 6/8/10. usefull tool but I wonder if they offer one similar to the pls-hvl-100
Can't see why it is better? It is faster and more accurate (laser precision aligned to each other) than laying out out chalk lines. You can mud beyond where your chalk layout lines would have been as the laser light will stay on top of the mud. Lazy? Not if you get paid by the hour or the job. Finish this one quicker and on to the next.
i don't see how this is better then chalk lines and tile spacers. I like bosch and i love the accuracy you get with laser tools; i just have a hard time understanding how its better then old school methods.
@yusufer5000 thanks for the comment, it's a valid point. Like all new "gadgets", there's an element whereby the old school methods may be more appealing, but the point of lasers like this is speed, along with accuracy.
@yusufer5000 I agree this.In the real life jobs never contains smooth underfloor and also the tiles sizes could be different 1-2mm from each other. It's obviously a brilliant tool but not important to have.
@obamatran The main advantage of many power tools is to speed up the job, make the job more accurate and save the tradesman money. This is exactly what the GTL3 is aimed to do as well
I have quite a few lasers already, but this one would be a nice addition...especially for those kitchen layouts and basement diagonals (diamond pattern)...I'm gonna check the website for pricing and delivery! Thanks for the post! Very helpful.
@mushygirlsiniran Not sure that they are brighter as they both fire a similar strength of laser beam. Some of them are external lasers which can be seen outside but this one is an internal laser.
@newcomer9747 It just points them out. You can even see the lines when there are undulations or debris on the floor, it manages to project the beams above the floor but down onto the floor
I dont like to knock or have a go at new products, but i am a tiling contractor of 25 years and i really cannot see this in my toolbox. Young people new on the scene might like this product but give me a chalk line and a long straight edge any day. If i start tiling off of a heavy metal straight edge, and the tiles are square the tiles will naturaly stay in line so i dont need a red line to tell me its straight. As far as i can tell its not a 'laser level' so no good for setting a datum on a wal
@tilerman Hi Tilerman - thanks for the feedback, we appreciate all feedback on our products and we appreciate this tool may not be something that someone with your experience would have a need for but there is a market for it and it would definitely help the less experienced tiler. It is also a real time saver. You're right in saying it isn't a laser level although there are many of these tools available on the Toolstop website.

what about retina damage? Isn't the laser right in your face?

Laser pointers are used in schools and universities. The wavelength and power level won't damage your eyes

If you won't use the classic plastic crosses you won't have correct results... good tool but it can't replace the classic mode...

how does it project laser beams on the floor?
newcomer9747 1 year ago
@newcomer9747 it's due to the angle of the lasers.
