  • This just in, Adam Baldwin will be appearing in an episode later this season. That is all.

  • Lots of Firefly references in Castle, so it's logical that is is one too. Also, if no one has made the connection here yet, Jose Molina, a writer and producer on Firefly, is also a producer on Castle.

  • @Jormungandor Flawed? Do you have something against this being a reference towards that one particular instance? My 'flawed logic' has to do with the character of Nathan Fillion, nothing more. He'd be the type to do it. He's funny like that. Sheesh.

  • @Jormungandor What you're saying is true, but this is Nathan Fillion. With him, it's a Firefly reference.

  • Too bad it wasn't quite as great as Jayne on Firefly...all drugged up, and a gun in his hand..."I was aimin' fer his head." love it.

  • @Jormungandor yeah but the character that says it is played by a person that was in Firefly

  • I just don't get how BEFORE this scene, Beckett bet him on something in the shooting range and suddenly he hit a couple of rounds right in the middle without effort. How can he suddenly be bad in a life or death situation or so good back then?

  • @Poomba1989b Life or death can be different than practice range.

  • @guitarfan01 yes but the difference is too huge

  • @Poomba1989b Because it was indeed a life or death situation. It's much easier to aim when there is no pressure or stress.

  • @AustenFugitive Yes BUT how come he shot someone perfectly in the leg when castle and beckett were crisscrossing their shots? that's the woman he loves right there, almost hitting her, it's the same kind of stress he's in and he shot like a pro at that moment. It's too big of a difference..

  • @Poomba1989b You have a point but he had more time in that situation, and I still think that this was much more stressful, not to mention (I think) his first time firing a gun on the job.

  • @Poomba1989b you'll notice castle doesn't always act as calm as he does outside of the danger part of the job he follows so he's always true to form

  • 1 person doesnt has a fort instead of a castle

  • They know a lot of Firefly fans are watching this.

My favorite episode might have been the Halloween episode though. He got to dress up like Mal again.

  • OMG!! I MISS CASTLE!! I want to se what happens to Becket!!!!!

  • Jayne sed that. hahaha i love castle and firefly

  • Only saw her for a few seconds, but she's pretty damn hot in this scene... Haha

  • @thewildone and @keilxkey2255 It is a reference. Why are we fans so sure? 1)Nathan Fillion LOVES/MISSES Firefly and 2)"I was aiming for his head" is said on Firefly by one of the main characters.

  • The Fillion is trying to get the rights to Firefly/Serenity and even has a Facebook page about it. If he does he promises to get the whole gang together for at least for one more movie. Go for it Mal!!!

  • @spacecowboy5000 Who, what when were?

  • @thewerdnna LOL! I know how you feel. If this would happen it would be a major event in my life - bigger than a wedding or a funeral. Just type in "Nathan Fillion" on Facebook and there's a link there to his Serenity page. Sign the petition! Get your friends to sign! Your grandma, sister, the smelly old man across the street! We have to help Nathan do this. ;D

  • Every common piece of dialogue is not a "reference"

    Tone it down, people.

  • sorry folks, but no one can deliver the line like Adam Baldwin

    still a good reference though

  • Not everything is a reference. Sometimes its just a word. I've seen this joke on 6 or 8 different TV shows and movies.

  • @thewildone And that's why we're all so surprised at the fact that Fox cancelled it. The show is referenced EVERYWHERE. There's a real shiny one on that Mech Quest game I think it is. The pilot (named Warsh) sings a spoof of Firefly's Ballad of Serenity.

  • I WANT THE SHOW TO COME BACK!! FARK!!!!!

  • Gorram it, I wish to frack someone would get Universal Pictures off of its lead-weighted ass and MAKE a sequel to Serenity.

  • I like Firefly references, but this scene contradicts --> Season 1, Episode 7: Home Is Where the Heart Stops, when castle's aim on shooting range is perfect.

  • @bogardandy But shooting in a shooting range, where there is no real sense of urgency, there is way less pressure than when shooting at an acutal person. In addition to the Firefly reference.

  • Ok I didn't watch serenity nor firefly, so could someone plz explain.

  • @skater2thebone In an episode of Firefly, Jayne (one of the characters, obviously) is drugged up and left behind by the crew, but when they finds themselves in danger (as the crew is wont to do), Jayne saves Mal, Nathan Fillion's character, by shooting his adversary. Jayne replies to Mal's "nice shot" with a garbled "I was aimin for his head". You should check out Firefly, I think it's on hulu.

  • Greatest nine seconds ever!

  • Now to be fair "aiming for his head" is a VERY old joke. I remember it being used in Remington Steele, and the 90's movie Geronimo.

  • @SpreadingtheMuse Ya, but just read effeweewetoob's comment to skater2thebone and you'll see why it's a firefly reference... that and Nathan Fillion does a Firefly reference in almost everything he's in i.e. halo, castle, and more. probably do to the fact that he's the main character in Firefly...maybe.

  • apparently nathan if tryin to buy the right to firefly and if he does get it he's going to continue firefly!!!!

    dont know if its true.

  • @plasm2 He's not necessarily /trying/ to, he just said he'd do it if he suddenly developed a few hundred million dollars.

  • @plasm2 He's not necessarily /trying/ to, he just said he'd do it if he suddenly developed a few hundred million dollars.

  • wait... where did he shoot him? i forgot:/

  • @MissMissy1997 his hands : )

  • @banenstrijder ohhh yeaaahhh and i made him like drop the gun or what ever(:

  • @MissMissy1997 jup..

  • @MissMissy1997 In the GUN! thats why it was so impressive.

  • There's a new one where Castle's mom and daughter are talking about some spiritual retreat called the Oasis of Serenity, and Castle asks what it is, and his mom looks at him and says "You haven't heard of the Serenity?" and Fillion's face after that is priceless.

  • @yoinkers100 The Serenity reference is up now. See the playlist. :)

  • @yoinkers100 And then he dressed as a 'space cowboy' for halloween X)

  • visit the "helpnathanbuyfirefly" website to support the campaign to acquire the production rights to firefly from fox in order to make new episodes!

  • Funny thing is, when I first saw this episode, I totally called that line. After he shot, I was like: "Heh, good place for another Firefly reference." Then Beckett congratulated him on the shot I was like: "Oh! Here it comes!"

  • There are Firefly references all over the place. Just goes to show how much people loved that series and that it was oh so wrong to cancel it.

  • I thouht it was 4

    the outfit

    speaking mandarin

I was aiming for his head

    and the blue gloves

  • @ikhvwolly also buffy reference

  • @ikhvwolly yes the gloves too. the first time he wears them on the show he actually puts out two fingers on each hand and looks at em funny so the 2 by 2 hands of blue reference

  • That makes how many...3?

    1. Mal Outfit

    2. Speaking Chinese

    3. "I was aiming for his head"

  • my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle...

  • It should be a reference, because in some episodes before it, he showed he was an excellent shooter at the shooting range. :D

  • Haha! That's awesome!

That was one of my favorite lines from Firefly, actually. Just the way Jayne said it made it all the funnier.

  • Er...Can this really be considered a Firefly reference? I mean, let's be honest here, that line's been used to death, even before Firefly came out.

  • @SuperGoliath89 He himself has said it was a reference

  • death to Fox for screwing over Firefly!!!! ARG!

  • @Apolloofthenight It should never have been on Fox, they fuck everything up. One season? Bah! DIckheads, that show was pure win.

  • @Shineymcshine79 not even one season! half of a season!

  • @Apolloofthenight AYe, you're right! Eleven episodes or something. No, ten. To this day, I boycott Fox.

  • @Shineymcshine79

They never even showed all of them. They left 4 eps unaired! Unfreaking believable...

  • **facedesk** <--- This is the result of laughing too hard and passing out due to lack of air! ^.^

  • Good old Jayne...

  • Oh man! Firefly fans are like yeah. Castle fans are like what?

  • @nonohino

Wait.. there are castle fans that *aren't* firefly fans? Why do they watch the show, if not to look for firefly references?...

  • @Hiraghm I know it really dosent make sense!

  • The Firefly references are the only parts of Castle I watch.

  • i wonder if theyre scripted..?

  • Seen the season three premier? Castle's aim is improving!

  • I watched this episode before I watched the episode of firefly.. and i immediately made the connection. He's cheeky like that. Haha. Space cowboy. haha

  • I watched firefly after waving watched Castle (I know I suck) and I laughed SO hard when Janey said that! OMG I think I peed a ittle

  • Once a Browncoat always a Browncoat. :D

  • i've been meaning to watch this series but I keep missing the goram epidodes

big firefly fan buy the way

  • Wtf LMAO. They should totally just do this every few episodes and see who spots them. Awesome.

And the implication from all of these little homages is that he knows all the lines by heart and that's even funnier lol.

  • I joygasm'd

  • wow I totaly missed that one when watching castle. good one though.

  • God I miss Firefly! :'D

  • OMG so sweet even though it was Jayne's line.

  • What episode was this! :D It was good! :D

  • Comment removed

  • @MentalistBonesCrazy9 Train Job. That is, if you are talking about firefly.

  • I need to see firefly again and again :) Its just too good!

  • But was the original Firefly reference a tip of the hat to Avon in Blakes 7 ?

He shoots Travis and hits his hand, then say "I was aiming for his head"

  • @UrgentementeUK Yep, that was the original one. Not many people know of the series outside of the UK though.

  • lol, Adam Baldwin does the same thing. I love it!!

  • ha ha!!! BRILLIANT!!!!!

  • why is captain Mal looking kinda chubby?

  • lol I didn't even pick up on this when I watched it!

  • When he said that, I just pointed at the screen and said, "He quoted from Firefly!"

  • nice shot haha way to go Cpt Nathan Reynolds.

  • I'm starting think Nathan loves to make Firefly references in this series.

  • @SulliMike241 Of course he does!

  • @SulliMike241 Well he has admitted in several interviews that he misses it... ^^ This is just his way of letting the fans know.

  • @SulliMike241

Man, he does it allllll the time in Halo 3. It makes me scream like a fangirl.

  • @SulliMike241 well he was in it

  • @StaraziaSelin66 No duh...

  • @SulliMike241 indeed :)

  • @SulliMike241 he wants to get the show going again.

  • @Corgblam Don't we all?

  • @SulliMike241 I was about to say that. I never saw this show before but this clip, I could have sworn he said the same thing in an episode of Firefly (awesome show).

  • @CogitoErgoCogitoSum he didn't say it, jayne said it was he was drugged.

  • @thexxFTW Right! Thats why I couldnt think of which episode it was, I was putting the wrong face to it.

Why does this actor do so many Firefly references?

  • @CogitoErgoCogitoSum

The cult following of Firefly/Serenity is huge, and since Nathan is Mal, well, it makes sense. And apparently when Firefly was canceled, Nathan in particular was heartbroken about it.

  • @CogitoErgoCogitoSum because he's the main character in Firefly?

  • @SulliMike241 Actually Nathan has on several occasions mentioned how much he loved being in Firefly and that if possible he would like to do it again.

  • @SulliMike241

I"M starting to think that the WRITERS like to make references to Firefly in this series. :-)

  • I knew it! I heard him say it and I was thinking, "didn't Jayne say that too?" only Jayne was lying on the ground and little more drugged lol :)

  • @1freckleface2 alot more drugged actually he even sounded drugged i mean he couldn't even sit up straight XD

  • SHINY reference!! Way to go Nathan!!

  • @ESOTERICKPLAN Good One

  • Lmao, I caught the other firefly references but I totally missed this one.

    <3 jayne
