I have to disagree. Imagine you're playing Guitar Hero and half your strums don't register. The other guy is about on par with this guy's skill level, he just only gets shitty drum sets. Take a look at his "Run to the Hills with good pads" video. It's vastly improved.

try not hitting the pads so hard. There's a way to lightly tap it so you can keep up, but it's not the only thing you can hear. It takes practice, but try it :)

just to add, you shouldn't use your SP until after the solo because you are wasting a whole bunch of it on that empty part right after it.  Just save it throughout the solo

First of all, you both are wrong. it's not StarPower, it's Overdrive Mode in this game. second, pope is right, you don't have to hit the cymbal*or green pad* at the end of little fills, so you keep Overdrive power. But if you do the solo at the end and do NOT hit the note at the end of it, then you get no ending bonus. So, just shut up, astrella, stop cussing for no reason, and get on with life.

It's been generally decided that to get gold stars you need to get about 1.45x the 5-star cutoff for that song. So, if it takes 1,000 points to get 5 stars on a song, it would take around 1450 to get gold stars. So, getting 100% on a song does not necessarily mean getting gold stars; it's all about score, not percentage.
