@lizbetzynth Dear, you've got to know Prokofiev's score for this ballet, if you are interested ;=) actually it's Capuletti theme, so it's Tybalt's music.)
@Bnesque yeaa. It's pity Tibalt in Lavrovsky version has no dancing. But it was created for Yermolaev, Godunov's ballet mentor, who was injured severely at the age of 27 and couldn't do real dancing by the time Lavrovsky's version was released. But Yermolaev gave his Tybalt passion to Alexander, no doubt about that.
@magnumSuper Again great knowledge from you! Definitely Yermolaev made Tybalt part into a great show casing of each dancer's acting skill. Though Grig version combat scene is so gorgeous!

@marcasalecchi My dear, if you mean complete "Romeo and Juliet" by Grigorovich with Godunov as Tybalt, there is no such thing. The clip above is almost all that was filmed in 1979.
If you mean comlete ballet RD, Grigorovich version, you just google for this exact word combination
Romeo and Juliet S.Prokofiev 2004 Ballet rutracker
It wasn't a small role. Tybalt was a center of the performance. And critics wrote Romeo and Juleitte were like background figures... That's a paradox of Grig's style: evil characters in his balelts are much more fascinating and captivating than all the others. Crassus, Tybalt, Queen of the Mountain, or Abderakhman in his version of Raymonda.
THAT VIEW OF HIS FACE AT THE START OF THIS WAY TOO BRIEF VIDEO !!! Gasp !!! --- Absolutely Gorgeous Truly, I think that this is the most Sexy and Manly Ballet Performance I have ever seen, HOW I WOULD LOVED LOVED TO HAVE SEEN THIS BALLET, "Romeo & Juliet" when it was done at the New York State Theatre in 1979 !!! If I am right, it was a few days later that Alexander Godunov defected, very brave thing to do... He was a Flame, wasn't he ... Many Thanks for this video !!!
His hopes had come true, partly, he danced several more years and then became a Hollywood star.
Our dreams never come true completely, 100 per cent, it's just not how it works, 'cause there're always more, more wishes and horizons, it never ends,,,
I remember American ballet critic Laura Jacobs wrote: Grigorovich favors long diagonals across the stage--leap, leap, leap, bronze pose!--and Spartacus spends more time in the air than on the ground. For sheer stamina, there isn't a man on ABT's roster, and I mean no disrespect in this, you can imagine getting through the role, and I doubt any would want to."
Same goes to Tybald part, doesn't it. He is a real macho and projects incredible manly strength... negative strength though...
song name?

@magnumSuper He reminds me this passage:
Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

He must have made it a big role to upstage Romeo and Juliet, and I wish I had been able to see this performance.

@magnumSuper AS IN JAMES BOND MOVIE VILLAINS ARE GREAT
pediatrapaola 1 year ago
@pediatrapaola Yes, and as a rule they are more interesting than Bond himself.
magnumSuper 1 year ago
He interpreted many great parts, but what really made them great was his personality, which was more interesting than the actual parts.

Одна моя знакомая сказала, что считает балет "холодным" видом искусства - это видео прямое опровержение этих слов! сколько экспрессии, эмоций!

yep. Sizzling and mean. Best villain in ballet, huh?)) And some people think - in movies too.
It's a pity he turned down Crassus part in Spartacus.
Though as Spartacus he "was fire and flame", as American critics noted in 1979.
