i know those engines didn't come like that from the junk yard..... that's lame, spend all that time painting em, makin look all pretty, when it's super easy to tare down, inspect, and rebuild, when they're not in anything
Nice! Yea to make a rat rod you need time and money and almost by definition you only have one or the other!
I don't think the engines need to be in perfect sync, you just need to make your coupling strong enough to handle the torque, while at the same time absorb some of the vibration and misalignment. A lot of industrial (i.e. air compressor) drives have a rubber coupler disc, I think that's what you need!
the first thing you should have done is get the engines joined together...which would take some machine shop fab....because otherwise it seems it would be a waste of time not knowing the proper motor mount spacing etc. p-lus, you can't have each motor with different manifolds, carbs, heads etc. if you want them to run as a perfect pair as one because one will fight the other all the time.
@streetrod777 it's easy to be general after the war but yea you're best off to figure out your drive train in advance and then build the car from the front to the back. That's how I'm doing mine - I already have the first 6" ready to roll :-)
try replacing valvestemseals, pull all 4 heads and replace.....i guarantee you that a chevy 360(.060 over 350) would haul some ass compared to a dodge 360
try changing the valve stem seals. my 318 dodge had crumbled,busted,broken-into-small-pieces valve seals. new ones fixed it. also if you take apart the pistons,check for ring gaps all lining up with the others. mine were like that too.hope this helps. way cool ride .need to see some driving videos!! great job!
that is about the most awesome thing ive ever seen. question. how do you cool the rear engine? also wondering how you will connect the two engines and get them to run in perfect sync with each other
@No1Beaver so did you Y off the radiator hose going to the front engine, and pipe to the rear? I'll certainly check out the other vid.. I have before but been awhile.
I have two big ass 1963 GMC V-6's I am planning to tie together and make something as twisted as only my mind can conceive . haha..
Radiator is from a flathead car and has two in lets and out lets. Not sure if this radiator will be capable of keeping to engines cool, but I'm a ways away from finding that out.
Im thinkin wacky races or the old adams family car. does a giant hammer spring out of it?

oops i just saw part 2 so disregard the part about the mounts....but make sure both engines have identical parts and timing right?

@1963impala2dr
There is tubing running from the radiator, under the front engine, back to the rear engine. See video #2 for how the engines will tie together.
