The whole thing about being mistreated/bullied by African-Americans for "acting white" is a thing most African-American/Black American kids that "speak a certian way, reading/being smart, listening to Rock/Pop/Country music face. My browner cousins have faced that as well.
My family is mixed on all four bloodlines (heavily on three) and alot of people in my family range in complexions with some being lighter and "more mixed looking" than the two at 2:13 who claim that black people didn't like them for being "light and pretty". Black people except my family and I just fine. I know that every experience is different but that sounds like BS to me.
@DaTruth2024 This brings me to another question. Honestly the "multiracial movement" at times seems to be riddled with colorism at times everytime I've been introduced to it. Do people think that a "light-skin black" is some how "more mixed" than a brown-skin biracial (I have seen alot esp. those from Europe and Africa).
Tina and Joey raise salient points that I have heard from other here on you tube and in the course of my informal research: that a number of black people have a great deal of resentment and dislike about bi-racials.
Being Black/White Bi-racial, I was never raised with either whites or blacks so I never ran across those attitudes growing up.
However, it is interesting and sad to hear these experiences of others.
Pathetic american racisme, ain't no Video not even about a cat and a dog without you people fighing over colour. The only thing changed in the US for blacks over the past 60 yrs is they can go to same places where whites can go.Black people, look at these 2Videos and you'll see on the facial features that BP in 1940 were yet pretty muched mixed :
omg being mixed race is the worst thing ever cos i get racism from blacks and white im sorry i dont care what ppl say i rather be black or white than both
@Thebraids exactly. Being biracial is awsome. You have 2 parents that love you and you have two different ethnic backgrounds. I'm Black White and Native American. And the only biracials who experienced identity crisis where the ones with slave moms raped by the master. Feeling unroyal to either one
@halliezmandy Iam black, white and native american as well and it is nice that you have the correct attitude about being biracial. I don't waste a lot of time thinking about people who don't like us. I have real worries- work, money , career-to consider.
Yes, unfortunately that is true for most us for the most part. I had a hard teen life. (For some strange reason I had the mistreatment from the Blacks)I guess The way I talked, dressed (hard-rock shirts), or acted . I obviously outgrew it as I got older. It only made me stronger. I was accepted by most by the way I carried myself. I'm of mix Black/Latino/Asian mix.Take care, God Bless.
solowizard, that is correct, i think this video is associated with a website called mixedfolks, that is a site that has good intentions but they know squat about race, just as you pointed out jewish people are not a race many are white some are black etc etc also on there site they claim all kinds of white celebs as being mixed ,for example they will say Christina Aguilera is mixed just because her father is hispanic and her mother is not ,they fail to see hispanic is not a race!
It's called mixed folks not mixed race folks ! So culturally speaking Christina Aguilera's Dad and Mom some from different cultures, therefor, she is mixed.
"tiffdjones" WILL block your account if she does`nt agree with your comments she will then have the account closed if you persist she is no authority on mixed race she does not mix with the mix she only has long term relationships with white ppl study her vids as a sceptic and you will see right her shes the cause of our confusion selfish, false, and transparent, she does not focus on mix but rather negative non relevant (TO OUR ISSUES) black/white issues she would rather be WHITE in my opionion
"TIFFDJONES" is a sorry sight, an embarrasment to all us decent mixed race folk for starters "MULLATTO" = the sterile off spring of a mule and donkey the term was used in slavery days by slave owners to discribe "HIS" children born through the rape of a slave he would then rape the children so his grandchildren were also his daddy she looks and speaks so false there is just somethink about her that is so wrong did you know in USA mixed girls only date 7% mixed race guys they dont accept us.
im tired of the tragic mulatto trying to blame all their problems in life on being mixed. wake up and realize this is life. ALL ppl get picked on and excluded over and over in their lives of all races. so give me a break. maybe if they werent so busy trying to distinguish themselves from the crowd, theyd be more embraced by the crowd they complain of being shunned from. & bi-racial is such a silly term, we are all of one race: human. unless one of your parents are alien, youre bi-cultural
I like the content of the trailer and how the text pages were interspersed between the video. There are two things that I think should be fixed - that is the spelling errors (e.g. Japaneese) and I don't think the trailer says what the documentary will be about (e.g. is it just about being mixed in general or something more specific?).Is the documentary done yet? I'd be interested in seeing it.
black hispanic, mulato hispanic quadroon hispanic, octaroon hispanics get to be exempt from black so why people want to be crabs in the barrel and try to make light skin and mulatos all the way black i think anglo mulatos and latino mulatos should stick together
As a white person it makes me feel bad that white people have traditionally made black people feel like they are ugly. I think black people are beautiful. The traits of beauty may differ from race to race, because we are different. But beauty exists in all races. The only reason I'm saying this is because there were comments about prejudices from black folks towards biracial people like they're "trying to be better" and I think it's rooted in that "white=good black=bad" poison we were taught.
You think it's tough being biracial? Try being fully Black with a very VERY light complexion (one paternal great-grandparent was Italian/Native American...must've skipped a generation I guess :-\) with a side of speaking proper English. The "are you mixed" questions and "sellout" accusations are ENDLESS. Truly. :-|
I am Puerto Rican-Greek-and French European. I am proud of my mixture and I don't waste my time with jealous people. I know I am attractive and I own it.
but really the whole documentary was too negative, there's alot of good things about being mixed! i find on the other tip there's alot of blk guys who find me intersting cause to them my attitude and the way i hold myself i still come off very black, but i was raised in canada by my mother so i do sound very white. there are people who think these differences are amazing and beautiful, they should focus on that too!
The solution to the "tragic Mulatto" issue is to own who you are and do not try to be accepted. All of my friends are mixed. We have our own individual looks, but we are connected by being mixed. I love my facial features and my hair texture. I love being called handsome by all ethnic groups. I own who I am and I do not let JEALOUS people break me down ever.
i thought the doc looked really good, i'd def watch it. but i think the first girl maybe had too many bad experiences. i liked what she said about its like getting invited to every party, but the not being VIP, i'm always VIP blk parties white parties, i do find what they say tru i get more hate from blk ppl 4 bein mixed but so i don't hang wit those certain ppl. maybe U need to be less jugdemental ur self and u'd be VIP!!!
this made me feel a lot better becuase I constantly get talked about for my color and when people see me with my mom they say ooh well you must look like yur dad and then I wonder what is that supposed to mean. My great grandmother is Black and native american and on top of it all my moms eyes are at a slant so she looks black and chinese which all translates to people thinking that I'm filipino and black. And girls with darker complections don't like me.
Being from two different cultures means you are less likely to make certain stupid assumptions so it pisses us off to constantly have them made about us. Then idiots like you call us "tragic" or imply we are inhuman in some way for voicing this! Are you actually capable of rational thought? or has all the crack you have smoked killed most of your useful brain cells?
Alright, after watching this, I'm starting to get the feeling that biracial children are truly tragic.
If someone takes you to be a member of a certain race, regardless that you're just a part of that race, why is that a bad thing? If that is a an issue then you're obviously not glad to be labeled a member of that race, which makes you tragic.
Tragic?? You are very over dramatic! We are not tragic, we just find it tedious that we constantly have to explain ourselves and have to battle against stupid assumptions. Imagine everybody you met always thought you were a Viking, there is nothing innately wrong with being a Viking, but its just a stupid assumption. Your lack of common sense is the true tragedy.
I'm black Irish and Indian I wish people would see the full beauty in my mixed race. Just because I talk proper and my hair is crazy and wild doesn't mean I'm proud of my race. I have light skin and my nose touches my top lip kinda.
Thanks for posting this, My Mother is Native American and my father is African American. Everyone assumes Im Purto Rican, from Brazil, Mexican...Like the guy said black people know..they be like "Oh he black" LOL!!!

gigimc I'm half black/white and I have trouble with the way you've said "their features are so negroid" as if its some kind of negative. Just what do you mean by this phrase? Is it because they don't look "white" enough to be mixed? And if so, since when was being mixed-race about looking totally white? They are after all half-black as well. In my experience they are a perfect example of what the majority of black/white mixed people look like. Do you even know any mixed black/white people?
yes - ME!! and all my cousins with loads of different mixes of ethnicities! Looking negroid is HARDLY a negative [thanx- wtf], but they're going on as if they're some rare, indeterminable species of human, when apart from being a bit fair, those faces are seen thousand times in DC. Fact is, this entire globe is mixed [whether they embrace that fact or not-genes never lie] & it's a beautiful thing! Attitudes need to change, but this doesn't help- it's a pat on the back on film. Ridiculous.
...and a little chinese too! ha!
