  • Whats the song at 1978??

  • I think on the last 10 songs or so, you focused on one genre only, while before you had more varieties.

  • eminem should be on the intro pic

  • everybody dance now

  • RIP MUSIC

  • I've had this in my favorites for a couple of years and on my page in the old playlists, just looking at it again -- have to say you really did an excellent job with editing the music on this.

  • @liz1060, thanks Liz, it was alot of work !

  • Um why did you skip years!? =/

  • sorta dissappointed.....i was looking forward to a little more rock and metal groups thrown in in the 90s, but c'mon, only guns & roses? this is basically "classic, pop & hiphop over the years" which can hardly be described as music...

  • Dont' blame rap for killing good music. Blame MAINSTREAM rap. Most rappers have really good stories and lessons in their songs (see Immortal Technique). Don't blame all rap.

  • What was that song from 1997? It's the only song on the entire list that I don't know. haha.

  • i just love songs like this !!!!!! <3 <3 <3

  • You should have put Duran Duran for one of the 80's instead of Man At Work since Duran Duran really is the quintessential 80's band.

  • Yeah but for sheer COOL, ya can't top Sinatra!

  • as if the beach boys who also sold conformity and consumerism were any better. different ethos, same lame shit, fuck mass media today and then too!!! its all brainwash!

  • What's the opposite of evolution?

    Regression?

  • 5:32... i noticed the switch with Nelly, but when I saw this picture..I realized..well..Its's sad what we idolize these days

  • Omg, it's all clear to me now! It's the nigras and their rap!....

Seriosly, are you looking for the catoliser that started it all? Sexual revolution - that branched into styles of drug'n'rock, pop and rap. These three styles dominate the playlists today.

  • has nothing to do with race, look at the previous #1's

Has to do more with dumb down consumerism, insecurity, marketing IMO

  • Thats what I got out of it

  • Rock...there is no rock today or pop...only rap.

  • Music charts are based on album ( 78 , 45 , 33.3 rpm , 8 track , cassette , CD ) sales .

Who buys these things ? TEENAGERS !

  • Really proves that rappers with no taste killed music. Started out with legendary music like Elvis and ended with crap like 50 cent.

  • i hope you die a terrible painful death. soon. while you are still young.

  • im not saying i dont agree, but i think that was pretty biased. Where is the source that is telling you these #1's? you are filling a pretty narrow gap with these songs. You missed about 150 million genre's.

  • Wikipedia, not much bias, these are songs that DOMINATED #1 on charts for weeks and also heavily in pop culture each year,

  • Sad reflection on the world when a list that is populated with some truly mind bending talent is dominated in the last few years by a thug with a pistol.

  • @DAveThePea Yeah but thankfully the whole rap/gangsta thing is dying out as hip hop is losing popularity because electro & pop are dominating now!

  • No Metallica IN 91-92!

  • I agree downhill. Rap has been a disaster on music quality. I remember Coolio coming out with Dangerous Minds and LLCoolJ. 15 years later it is so much crap. Worse than disco / heavy metal fads ever were.

  • music after the 80s = crap

  • oh thanks for the vid, awesome

  • the last then years is crap. two words white suburban young adult/tweens/teen Wgrs

  • holy, I didn't know Bennet was that much of a dinosaur

  • I like the compilation. From the late 90's it went downhill that's for sure.

  • This was a really good video RBM. Most of the music today is crap. Things have really gone downhill and that's demonstrated in this video. Thx for sending it to me.

  • what happend was eMpTy-V was bought but a jew(jews always ruin shit) named sumner redstone aka murray rothstein and he started implimenting shit-hop fuckcrap and lame ass hair metal. thus mtv started to turn to shit. now mtv is basically B.E.T.(a black channel). most net-citizens cannot stand shit-hop and there is a big movement against it. shit-hop is fucking boring atonal downsyndrome, fabfivefreddy fuckcrap. case closed.

  • futhermore, clear channel(a radio monopoly) is ran by a jew named mel karmizin. most of radio and tv is ran by jews. just like the u.s. news media tv networks. the country is in serious trouble because of it.

  • My God, all your comments sound very racist do you realise that??

  • excellent you should make another with music from the 1930's to the 1950's

  • PropS!

  • Death of Music: R Kelly Onwards.

I think good music has a chance to make a comeback though. Rap looks a little more like it's on the way out, but it's being replaced by techno/electronica. Meanwhile more good alternative bands are creeping out of the woodwork.

Most rap artists now are duetting with actual singers now. Eg. Mariah Carey provides talent, rappers the "celebrity status" in the song and vids going "uhuh, yeah, mariah" every once in a while.

  • a christmas song for number 1 in 1950 wow lol

  • wow...I had thought that it all sounded the same but...I figured it was just me...getting old and all...but it really does all sound the same.

  • What happened after 2000 to make everybody go deaf?

  • Good Vid- few mistakes.

Music 1990's on is crap. RAP Sucks. Its not music.

  • OH GOD!!! Everything was going well until Michael Jackson!

  • What the hell do you mean by that?

  • Rap music is very cheap to produce yet very easy to market and sell, young teens have more disposable income than adults do these days. Sort of sucks because black artists had the best music I find, but rap.. most of it is horrible. - I'm surprised you forgot "Hammer Time" though :P

  • black musicians haven't nary a fucking ounce of talent compared to the great europeans.

  • that musta been a LOT of work- well done tho- i really enjoyed it =]

  • Good Vibrations was number one in 1966 not 64

I Heard It through The Grapevine in 68 not 66.

    Where was 1963 or 72.

  • most of these are british but you say its american no1s thats not how u should word it

  • nice one. i like every single one of those.

  • God watching this movie you got to ask yourself. WTF happened to music? Bunch of crap rap getting into the # 1 spots. When it used to be songs that actually meant something to people. I mean now all music is a money maker, a business. Where there'll take someone who is extremely good looking, but talentless and put her front and center (i.e. Ashlee Simpson, All American Rejects, 50 Cent, etc.) Music now is just so god damn commercial with bands coming and going it's impossible to keep up!

  • Rap sucks.

  • British Bands with an American Number 1: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Rod Stewart, The Police, U2 (Ireland), UB40. Just goes to show how tricky it is!

  • Pretty cool.

  • Even better than your other one! good job...I liked the 60's and 80's mostly, what happened lately?
