This electronic one can probably encompass the range of many steelpans which would cost much more than this instrument does, not to mention that it is a much more familiar layout as a MIDI instrument for a steelpan player. Even more to the point, why does it matter that it exists? Why would that ever be something that would irritate anyone in the slightest? You don't want one, then don't buy one and stay off the YouTube videos. Simple as that.
@tylerj19797, That's like saying: Who needs a keyboard if you have a piano? Or better yet, who needs instruments if we have computers? Everyone plays something else, and you should give everyone a change to express that.
