he says he wants to get stronger (more powerful) with slow, controlled movements, but the definition of power is work in a certain amount of time so the faster you move the weight, the stronger you get. simple mechanics
@LiftYourBW when u do slow controlled movements you work all your muscle fibers...its harder to do slow controlled movements. u do get stronger that way...do slow controlled push ups and see how many u can do compared to fast or regular speed push ups
@nickonbtone1 I dont know anything about muscle fibers, but I do know something about strength. When people go to the gym to get stronger, they do work. How do you do work? You apply force. What is force? Mass x Acceleration. When you do every rep the fastest you can, you can: apply more force, do more work, get stronger, with less mass. This is also why good strength programs tell you to try and gain weight during the cycle; so your body gets used to applying more force with additional mass.
@LiftYourBW if you try holding yourself in push up position for a long time and u start shaking and having those natural convulsions youre working your muscle fibers. you get stronger that way! slow controlled movements means you can handle the weight as opposed to slinging the bar as fast as you can and its wobbling everywhere and leaning to one side cuz you tryna go fast! you clearly cant handle the weight! when lifting you have to control the weight as well.
@Sa3g3r He's actually right though, you want to lift the weight fast as long as you maintain good form, that's the key. While most professional athletes are naturally very athletic, most don't lift with very high intensity because the team trainer doesn't want to risk an injury, in which case he would probably get fired.
THis video is the truth! Take it from me, a person who almost fucked up his lower back trying to showoff to his training partner! Ego lifting is DANGEROUS! Humility is the road to being VICTORIOUS!
haha, this just shows how important it is to be a good athlete, and how much less important it is to have a proper strength training program. He is doing those deadlifts incorrectly, granted not awful, but incorrect. You can see him rock back, losing tension on his glutes and placing tension on his lower back and quads. He needs to stay forward more to make the movement more hip dominant.
I don't know if you want more power, but what you're doing is bodybuilding deadlifts. Powerlifters use an over/under grip and start with the hips slightly higher. regardless, still excellent exercise for your back and butt. good work! Do you think it helps your performance overall?
i like cribbs but this was a weak video

@062112a This is very true. Here's a good video to emulate this.
