It's a Hard Road for any Conga Drummer, but I always feel sorry for "Female"Conga Drummers as they will always be instantly compared to the original & still the best!
no sense of "composition." rudimentary chops are there but there is no conceptual unity. LISTEN to Samuel Torres or Sheila, Carol Steele or Evelyn Glennie or others who have a sense of completeness in their solos. Well let me not overdo it. Those of you who get it already got it, the rest of you... hate to bust your bubble. Melena, keep working at it. You KNOW you can do better and you KNOW your full potential. (Heaven knows I do!)
