With studying animal care since i was 16, i literally love every single animal, but my most favorite and the most beatiful of all natures creatures is to me the orca whale. There is nothing like them, the only pity is that i feel so sorry for these amazing creatures as some are kept in captifity for no fault of their own, but of the fault of humans. This video is beatiful in every single way and i hope the whole world some day will try their best to save these creatures.
i grew up with the love of killer whales, mainly from the movie free willy. it showed me the amazing killer whale and how beutiful and majestic they are and if you ever watch free willy i dont think i will ever be able to replace kieko as one of ur number on killer whales. he was the only killer whale to have the three black dots underneath his chin so therefore you automatically know he is a special whale. and the orca being spectacular as it is it should be FREE!!!!
There fins bend like that because of how heavy they are and bein in shallow water makes it much hard to stand straight up like they should alot of whales fins curve are wavey and many others You have to think these are heavy and there fins are huge so they much be heavy to in the ocean there weightless in shallow water the can feel how heavy they are
Keiko actually changed my life.. .. I fell in love with orcas and still one of my biggest dreams is to go kayaking with these majestic animals! I could watch them for hours
People need to be reminded about Lolita, who is stuck in a tank almost smaller than the one Keiko was in. Lolita is at the Miami Seaquarium.. her family is L Pod in Washington State, and her mother is 82 and still alive. For information on how you can help her, look up Orca Network on facebook or google.
The pressure of the water of the Orcas swimming in a circle forms it that way, that is why the Orcas in the wild have straight dorsal fins. It is really sad that is why I don't agree with captivity. No tank can compare to the freedom and size of the ocean! I LOVE YOU KEIKO!
i went so many times to reyno aventura in Mexico city to see him I was 8 years old the first time i touched him so sad now he is not with us any more :((
i was just wondering if any1 could help me av been watchin orca videos and noticed afew of them have attacked there trainers like timilkim ( i think thats his name) and shamu and stuff i was just wondering if keiko ever hurt anybody or ever got aggresive!?!? best orca whale ever :)
@kudy No, I don't think he ever did. Orcas are naturally gentle creatures...unless you look like a squid or fish. But it's like in the movie Rae (The trainer) said: "Orcas are intelligent and nice." I know there are stories and things where and orca has attacked a human, but there could have been serious provokation, or the animal was too old to be in captivity and it just had enough and went nuts.
i was just wondering if any1 could help me av been watchin orca videos and noticed afew of them have attacked there trainers like timilkim ( i think thats his name) and shamu and stuff i was just wondering if keiko ever hurt anybody or ever got aggresive!?!? best orca whale ever :)
people think that when they release an orca back to the wild it's going to be so happy and enjoy all of the water. It's the same as taking a person from a small state and putting them in the amazon, they still have air and food but they're scared and have no idea what to do with out their family.
Keiko MEXICO misses you.....youre allways in our hearths. I have great child memories with you....touching you ,feeding you, kissing you, at that time the best moments for me and thousands of people who watch you acting. RIP I know that you are still jumping and making happy a lot of beings in heaven
its so very sad cause he was still so attached to humans that any humans he came near in the wild he wanted to be close to them, what were they thinking releasing him into the wild like that when he's become so dependant upon humans for the past 20 years of his life, they knew he wouldn't survive out there being that he knows nothing about living in the wild cause he's been in captivity his whole life, i mean its nice they wanted to free him but it was just stupid, r.i.p keiko
this is why whales should be kept in their natural environment. If the trainers, biologists and scientists had brains, they should have known that keiko couldn't hunt and find food on his own before freeing him out to sea.
i would just like to say a massive thanks to keiko. you taught me and encouraged me to never give up on your dreams and no matter what if you try hard enough one day you will achieve your dreams and i aim to achieve mine, to become an orca trainer.
@lovetownbomber no im saying that like guitarbabe21 said the orcas cant survive in the wild, they are born in captivity they dont know anything else and they cant hunt for food. and before some says something like they dont have to do tricks, a lot of the things they are taught is so that the trainers can check them over and make sure they are healthy.
this video is so fucking amazing. and so r u keiko. no one will ever forget u ik i havent. i celebrate ur anniversy every year i watch all ur video and listen to every soundtrack. and ill always will. love u keiko u r dearly missed and the researchers r gonna pay for wht they did. they killed u. they cldnt find ur family so if i ever meet one of them they r gonna pay and i mean pay with their face

i think that whales should be kept in the wild. in their natural enviroment. who knows what the trainers do to them in order for the whales to do all of those tricks....p.s you guys do know that keiko is alive right......cause he is
All the trained experts, marine biologists and scientists that studied him, trained him, and knew him throughout all his life wouldn't have made a mistake like that.
@578373 ...of course he is...he lives thru us his real dedicated fans...the ones who cried when he did...the ones who laughed cuzz he was...he lives thru us
Keiko was caught in Iceland, so he was a wild Orca. And he did not die from starvation. I believe he either died from some sort of respiratory infection or an pneumonia , which is common in both wild & captive Orcas.
I'm glad he got to experience the wild again before passing! I was so sad when I found out he died :(
OMG again it is stupid human (no efence to anyone who was not part of the free willy movie) but come on people like really i blame it on the people who took him from the wild for his death they should never of took him from the wild in the first place. i know i would not be able to live with myself knowing he died because of setting him free
I don't know if he was happy or sad. I was there the day he arrived in Newport, saw his sores and watched him get healthy.. followed hin to the airport when he left, and cried when he died. It wasn't a waste. It was humans doing their best to right our own wrongs.. We loved Keiko.. The money was only wasted when the aquarium owners tore the medical tank down instead of using it to help other sick animals..!! Stupid times 100 !! RIP Keiko! I believe you enjoyed your life as weird as it was!
I only saw him twice at the Oregon Aquarium. We went down there so I could see him. We went on slow days, so there was one point when it was just him, me and my parents, and he just looked at me and I knew I had found a lifelong friend. I think he had the way with everyone. You couldn't help but love him and he couldn't help but love everyone.
This is soooo beautiful!! It's one of those things we take such the little things for granted. Keiko was so beautiful and had such a soft soul. You can see it when he would approach the boats and visit the people on them. Great job on the video I was truly touched. Tears are falling down! :)
It's actually not genetics - it's due to the atmospheric pressure in the water, which is why a lot of orcas in captivity have bent dorsals - the water is only about 35-40 feet deep. Resident orcas in the wild will have them too, if they stay around shallow water.
i can't beileve how they caught him then release him thinking he can live on his own after being in captivity so long. That was selfish on the peoples behalf knowing he will approach humans!! People killed keiko by releasing when he wasn't ready. Rip Keiko i'm soo sorry xxx
They did not just release him back into the ild.. they built a special pen for him in iceland and he went throught extensive training. He died becuase he got sick not because he didn't know how to live in the wild

I remember when my parents signed me up for his foundation for Christmas...I balled my eyes out, I was sooo happy!! I was 8 or 9 at the time. The movie totally changed my outlook on life...it was all about saving the whales and dolphins, etc...still is in a way :) RIP Keiko.
i got to meet him too, i live in england but got permission from the free willy keiko foundation to go out to icelad where they were rehabilitating him. i was only 8 it was amazing!
no one really knows to tell the truth. But some people believe that it is because he was in captivity and many orcas fins go like that when they are in captivity thanx for your question x
@putmoneyonme But the pressure would be lower in captivity. Wouldn't higher water pressure make the fin bend? That would mean deep sea diving kind of thing, which can only be done in the wild.
Well i was at sea world and some believe that it because some whales like to swim at the surface more than some others whales and their dorsal is made out of cartlage, or something like it, and after a while gravity takes effect and the fin falls to the side, thats what some people at sea world said.
@diamondboi89 it's believed that because the Orca does not have the space to grow to it's full potential in captivity, that the dorsal fin compensates by not growing properly to it's full height and instead bending over.
@diamondboi89 The dorsal fin is made of a tissue like cartilage that hardens as they grow older. Usually with male killer whales, the dorsal fin, usually around 6 feet tall, becomes too heavy and gravity pulls it down. It is less common in the wild because in the wild, they spend more time underwater, which supports the fin. In captivity they spend more time at the surface and something so large cannot be supported, and gravity bends it. They cannot feel it at all, and it doesn't indicate mood.
i love the song :) and i love orcas there all fasanating to watch there so beautiful and i wish lolita had a bigger tank :( if i was the onwer of the sea aquarim i would promise her for a bigger pool and ill keep that promise RIP keiko
Ah, Keiko, we loved you - we saw Keiko twice in Oregon - the second time he was like a sleek torpedo & he sounded (went to the bottom) & came up & jumped out of the water, coming down on his side, making billions of silvery bubbles - it was AWESOME !

There is little to be learned by watching three-ton mammals in an oversized swimming
pool... there's a fine line between teaching people to value wildlife, and parading these
animals for witless amusement. There is a danger we will see more, not less,
exploitation of wildlife - an exploitation that is all the while touted as 'educational'!'

Dolphinaria and aquaria routinely administer
prophylactic antibiotics and ulcer medication to captive
cetaceans.Bacterial infections are a common cause
of death in these animals. Pneumonia, which is generally
brought about by some other condition, such as stress
or a compromised immune system,is the most
commonly cited cause of death in the NMFSs Marine

@diamondboi89 it's believed that because the Orca does not have the space to grow to it's full potential in captivity, that the dorsal fin compensates by not growing properly to it's full height and instead bending over.

@Taylahoox But it happens wven when a whale is fully grown though?
Emikero 1 year ago
@diamondboi89 stress because of captivity and the inability to swim freely
simranjeet12345 1 year ago
@diamondboi89 The dorsal fin is made of a tissue like cartilage that hardens as they grow older. Usually with male killer whales, the dorsal fin, usually around 6 feet tall, becomes too heavy and gravity pulls it down. It is less common in the wild because in the wild, they spend more time underwater, which supports the fin. In captivity they spend more time at the surface and something so large cannot be supported, and gravity bends it. They cannot feel it at all, and it doesn't indicate mood.

Ah, Keiko, we loved you - we saw Keiko twice in Oregon - the second time he was like a sleek torpedo & he sounded (went to the bottom) & came up & jumped out of the water, coming down on his side, making billions of silvery bubbles - it was AWESOME !
