hi great video really impressed with the form work idea, i am just starting my pizza oven, and was wondering what type of clay you used on the outside and where you got it from i am in Forster and can easily get to Newy if need be
Nice job. I read one comment about the bricks and the cement. What is the right thing to do here? Also, what is the vent pipe made of and do you have a valve in it? Some of these guys think they are so smart and make all kinds of snotty comments but I bet they never got off their lazy bottoms and did anything with their misserable lives.
Good work! I want to build one in my garden, but I have no experience at all working with bricks... I was wondering if building a wood frame first would help make things easier.
Hey, cracker oven!! I'm building one very simliar to yours and was just wondering did you use refractory mortar when bricking it? I was thinking of using cement fondue but it's quite expensive and was just wondering how you did yours?
@saverio1e Hey Sav its a piece of fence we used as form-work. After the concrete was set we pulled it out put it back where it belonged, to stop the dog getting out. This oven, remember was done on the cheap man!
Hey Gowlp, how would you bloody know when we where building the oven, u were
hi.very nice owen. whats the red colour soft thinks. you but after blanket. can you tell me pls. can you send my email address pls.my email address is (bukhlaa@yahoo.com) thank you so much
I hope that isn't cement you are using on the dome, otherwise you are exposing your family to toxins in their pizza, along with possibly lead in those red bricks. You shouldn't have used cement (if that's what you used) and you aren't suppose to use those red bricks. You need special lead free firebrick.
The internal diameter is 900 mm so the height I dont know. Just keep stacking bricks too they meet I guess. You can cook anything that you can cook in a conventional oven, and yes since the contruction we have made a door for it and made a few loaves of bread and hot cross buns. The bread is bloody fantastic mate!
@monkeypooification Hey thanks Monkeyshit.....Anyone who checks out us building this oven ..must have a look at and subscribe........monkeypooification=====> JULIAN SMITH_ You in five minutes.
Great video, great fun, and funny music. I saw your pics I guess through the forno bravo site as well. Quick question, did you use regular cement for the mortar? Where I am at, I can't get anything with refractory material. Thanks.
Hi, I live in Newcastle and have been learning about building a pizza oven. Would it be possible to brings some beers over and ask some questions about how you built your oven? Regards Andrew 0435744312

hi there,im just wondering does the outside sound very hollow when you tap it after you put the first coat of mud on top of the insulation??,also i notice you put two coats of mud, how thick would that be,and does the hollow sound go away once you put more coats of mud on it,,cheers
Yes manzattm the outside does sound hollow when you tap it,also very cool to touch when oven is at full temperature.
We put two coats of mud on as when we were applying the first coat we could get any thickness without it slipping off the dome onto the ground,so we added a second coat.
Heres a tip we should have done when the dome was finished we should have added a good coat of mortar to the outside of the dome then the rockwool insulation.
@wokbok43 hey mate is the insulation just normal house stuff or is it special fire proff stuff im up to that stage of my oven now an do you think roofing insulation would work the stuff that go's under tin roofs cheers mate
hey great job,,im in the process of building one right now,,,what is your internal diamentions from left to right and from the rear to the opening before the flue section,,,cheers
900 mm internal, its a good size not to small and not to big....not sure about front to rear as this is determined by the door, our door is shown in the video as 380 mm (I think) which again has proved to be a good door size

what mix did you use to render the outside of the dome?

That's the problem with the U.S. Here, we're not allowed to cook children in ovens. Child Protective Services frowns upon it.

Hey,
This is great.
What is the internal height? How have you found it for cooking things other than pizza? Ever consider putting a door on it?
