we mongols have to struggle for globalization to keep our language and culture. World mongols should be united by mongol culture, custum and language..
Have some pride! You are boasting because you have suffered? I am Bulgarian. I have livd in communism and I live now in capitalism. There is no difference. Yes, a lot of people were humiliated during the Soviet rule, but you blame the wrong people. Don't mix Russian and Soviet. Russians suffered even more. There were sick people in every country and now there are even more. I respect Mongols anyway.
I'm Romanian but the clips in this film speak to me because we're brothers. Maybe not literally but in the sense that both of our countries suffered much due to the USSR. I don't understand anything except very few words of Mongolian but I understand all of what this video is about.
@tanagbold actually our Mongolians suffered by USSR, such as helmegduulelt. USSR prohibited our religion and lots of things related to our tradition. They killed many of our brilliant people who could lead Mongolia. Im agree with Twycross. Peace.
@Twycross How did Mongolia suffer? Before Communist rule they were so much poorer! If it weren't for the Soviets then they would be at the mercy of every single other country. If anything, the Soviets saved the Mongolians. I have many roots. I am a descendant of , Ukrainian Cossacks, Polish, and Russians, not to mention I AM part Mongol/Tatar, and to be honest, my ancestors that my parents were in touch with, all say that Communist rule was fairer and much more comfortable than Capitalism today.
@Twycross No my family never was part of the party. My great grandpa on my mom's side was a Bolshevik, but never in the party, and 2 of my great grandpas on my dad's side were soldiers of the white army. I have no recorded Communist Party family members.
Not to mention you know Lenin didn't live at all like a king as most people think? He wore clothes with patches in them sowed by his wife.
And hey, I'm mostly Ukrainian. Don't confuse me with a Russian.
Imagine if it wasn't your country (Turkey, I suppose) that lent its name for a whole linguistic group, but another one. Let's say Kazakhstan: there would Turkish Kazakhs, Azeri Kazakhs, Uzbek Kazakhs...don't you think it's a bit imposing on the others?
If I imagine for example Germany naming the peoples who speak a Germanic language "Germans" (Swedish Germans, Dutch Germans, Norwegian Germans etc. etc.), there would be a huge outrage! :)
Turkey is not what lent the name for the linguistic group. The tribe which all of these people share a kinship with, the Gokturks, is what gave the name. I'm not saying these groups don't have their own individual character but I think it's easier when I refer to all of them to call them by the one name which best describes all of them collectively. Think about it, when you want to refer to Russians, Serbs, and Croats as a whole you would say Slav as opposed to naming each group individually
@dmustainewannabe not really, why would you possible collectively call them slavs? that way the english would have to be called germans. i find too many turkish people coming to mongol, or kazakh posts and procliaming it to be turk and writing down a whole gush of pseudonationalistic jargon about central asian people being turk. this is absurdwhether naming it turanian or whatever.
@dmustainewannabe i even foundsimilar comments on native american music posts. mongols are mongols as are the kazakhs. its pretty annoying to find bunch of people from turkey to go around calling everyone turk.
I wasn't trying to offend anyone so if I have I appologize for that. And I certainly agree with you that Turanians are ignorant for labelling Mongols and I guess Native Americans as Turks, but can we all at least come to an agreement that Turkic people share a small kinship regardless of where they are from or what they call themselves. I was not trying to deny people their identity, that is something I am very against. And I'm not a nationalist, I think Turanians are ignorant scum.
As both a Turk and someone with a deep passion for Central Asian history I have to ask that all Turanian ignoramusus do their researsch before they go around making themselves look like idiots. Turks (Central Asian or Western) are not Mongols They are related to Mongols meaning they share kinship and culture but are not the same. And honestly anyone who buys into Turanian nationalism is just a poseur who feels the need to be a part of something for the sake of belonging
Do you know that in english (unlike in turkish, for example), there is a difference between "Turkish" and "Turkic"? Turkish relates to things from Turkey, whereas turkic is used for describing all the peoples that speak a turkic language.
This may be not important to you of course, but still I'm not so sure whether people from Central Asia would like being denied their nationality and being described simply as "Turks".
I know there is a difference. But regardless of where they may be from if they contain Turkic blood they are a Turk. An Azeri may be an Azeri and a Uzbek may be an Uzbek but at the end of the day they are both Turks. That has nothing to do with what they define themselves as this is historical fact.
Azeris are actually Iranian people but linguistically they are Turkic. This is what is important for people to realize that linguistics don't always denote genetics. Even people from modern day Turkey have more Greek, Kurdish, Latin and Anatolian blood in them than actual "Turk", Go compare pictures of someone from Turkey and someone from Turkmenistan and then tell me who is TURK.
I see validity in your arguement though so don't take my rebuttle as some sort of hostile offensive I am merely just expressing my mind the same way you are.
