@RedlineMS501 My buddy just got a 2011 ZX10 and i was told that he had to keep it under 4,000 rpms under 500 miles and under 6,000 before 1,000 miles to break it in. So my question if its a brand new bike and your shifting at 13,000 rpms is that bad fro the engine? Thanks
@808crazyshit when buying a new bike you should redline the gears for about 30kms and they usually perform better then the way the dealer tells you to break it in.
Sweet review1 please help me! I've had a lot of bikes from 250cc-1000cc, but the only street bike I had was a 92 zx6. I'm a fit 5'9 150lbs. Is this too bike too heavy for me to have fun with on the canyons? Or should I get a 600 or a 750?
@everythingfast661 the ZX10r is a really easy bike to ride and the power is managed but if your experience is mostly on a 92 zx6, you might want to go with a 600 class bike. Today's 600 class bikes are very fast and fun to ride and we find that riders tend to go a little slower on them because you have to wind them up more to make them go. With the liter bikes the power is so deceiving that a quick twist of the wrist and you are in the triple digits. Your size is irrelevant. Either class fits.
@RedlineMS501 if you add the cbr1000rr what do you think? I'm planning to buy my first supersport next sping and I have no idea which one to choose... (even thinking about the gsxr)
@SportsSavage on a 1000cc bike the difference is only about 4 - 6 hp. Not worth the cost unless you are racing and need that last 10th of a second. For street, just change your gearing, that's poor mans HP!
This was a really good video review. Watching some of the other bike reviews on YouTube is an exercise in frustration. They are heavy on the rhetoric and try too hard to sound interesting...all the while, they don't really give any substance.
@sunnyshinde100 a bike is only as good as the rider and very very few riders will be able to exploit the differences between the bikes. Even the best street riders will not be able to maximize either bikes potential. The one that is better, is the one that is better for you. That answer will be different for everyone. Some might even like the GSXR the best........ maybe not.
hey im thinking of getting a street bike in the next few years would a 600cc street bike be good for a starter bike. I don't wanna get a 250 have mastered it and bored within 6 months.
@Laonidas1 Just get what you want, i was told to get a 250, but i got an 09 zx6r instead. Had bazzaz zfi-tc on it with a full M4 ss exhaust, one tooth down on the front sprocket for better acceleration. Rode it for 4 months then sold it for zx10r.
cool video, looked fun to make. Yea i havent gotten an answer from anyone ive asked but im looking into getting a 600 as a first bike but ive never ridden before. also im 6'7" around 240 lbs. any suggestions on a bike for a noob?
@ediego86 You havent ridden a street bike or anything like a dirt bike? If you're looking into getting a bike and you haven't ridden before you should take a rider safety course or go out with a friend that has a dirt bike and learn to ride (Dirt Bikes are WAY lighter though so it wont be the same). I am in the process of getting my M1 in cali. I have been a Dirt Biker since i was 4 years old and am 18 now. I'm a good rider but i'm taking a rider safety course anyway.
@skylarrayyoung yea im definitely gonna take a rider safety course before i get a bike. the dirt bike thing is a good idea, i was thinking about getting some sort of dual sport as a first just to be safe or maybe something like the sv650 or versys.
@skylarrayyoung Your right i started out also on dirt bikes and i took the Rider safety course ass well. If anything it gets me discounts on insurance, and helped boost some confidence in the transition from dirt to asphalt
The 2010 is just perfect !!! The problem with the video is the you have that big stupid tail on the back !!!! If ya took if off you would have a much better ride !!!! The wind resistance with that big stupid thing on is just crazy !!!! ;-)
hey redline i have a question and need an advise. first let me tell you that ive never ridden a bike and planning on getting one soon. i want to get the 2011 zx10r as my first bike. since you said that in the lowest power mode the zx10r makes a 111 hp, do you think that ill be fine as long as i keep the bike on that mode while learning to ride? thanks in advance.
@hikoseijuro24 - The ZX10r wouldn't be my first choice for a new rider. You won't learn as fast, will probably develope bad habits and will get sick of running it in low power mode and will most likely crash it. 85 mph in first gear and more acceleration than a supercar might be too much, even with traction control. The bikes we recommend for a first bike are - Suzuki SV650 / Gladius / GS550, Kawasaki 650r / 400r / 250, Yamaha FZ6, Honda F4i / CBR250. Try a smaller bike for a year first.
@hikoseijuro24 Imho if you stay True to yourself and ride in low power mode for a year it shouldn't be a problem!
Actually its perfect, like practising on a 600ccm for a year PLUS traction control and ABS, and then "changing" to a literbike with the exact same geometrics and again traction control and ABS!
But DON'T go full power too soon!
The slower you take it the better you'll get later on and the more fun you'll have without crashing!
@whywutt yeah I agree. these guys don't claim to be experts but they did a great job. I hope they will do comparison test with the BMW s1000. maybe they'll offer unbias reviews rather than the BS we see by so called experts.
@bandguy360 nah man i would have to say that this is the best looking zx in a while the 2010 was alright i like the green and black paint job this year
guys this review is amazing i am inspired to purchase a motorcycle. Your video just showed me that i really need a bike now. I am a new to this 6.3" 165lb what bike would you recommend for a started bike. I am very controlled i would be wrackless and still i don't want too much power that i would get my self into trouble. Someone said 250r are good starters but i got on it, rode it around the block and it feels dead i mean my car got more of a punch and it was crammed for my legs. sv650? 650r?
race city!!! hey man. i have a group of 40 sportibke riders here in red deer. alot of us really want to get to a track and away from these horrible straight roads :(.
- I heard calgary was a horrible track with potholes everywhere. is this true? what are the track days like? can i show up with full leathers a helmet and go have some fun or do i have to go through some orientation stuff?
i am racing the 2011 zx10r not much difference i truelly dont like the abs braking and the rev limiter sucks and #1 con is tires first and foremost change out immediately dunlop Q2S.... you can adjust the gearing i changed my setup to vortec reverse shifting and as always the rearend is very loose ( for those who owned the zx10r you know what im talking about) not to hip on the exhaust switch to full race duel exhaust. if your racing the bike the electronics are ok (power commander) RIDE HARD
You can tell you guys did a fantastic job by the relatively small number of morons commenting on it. Great Job! Look forward to seeing you out at Race City this summer.
Hello I am Brazilian, I have a BMW motorcycle ss1000r in Brazil this bike is the best in comparison with other models from 1000. The ZX10 2011 has not come to Brazil ... I wonder what you think of the bike, which the final velocity, and in your opinion, do you think the ZX10 2011, will be better than the BMW ss1000r.
@Brunocmarino I wouldn't say any bike is really better. In the hands of a top rider, the BMW may be faster but for us average folks I think the difference will not be significant. The BMW makes more hp but the traction control on the Kawi is better so who knows which on is better. They are both awesome.

I use be big fan Kawasaki but I tell u now if something goes wrong with the bike Kawasaki will take no responsibility. The don't give shit about you as I found out the hard way. I took my bike Kawasaki dealer ship for service and new tyre and they forgot to tighten up my brakes, almost killing me. Dealer went into recession and Kawasaki told me get f$&@Ed in polite way. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
zx6 08.. i hated it when i first saw it... ended up buying one and loving it.. zx6 09.. i hated it when i first saw it.. ended up buying one and loving it.. zx10 11... hated it when i first saw it.. its growing on me now.. hmmm
interesting video, but audio sucked and CG was terrible, and the jump cuts made things look spastic and amateurish. Next time, use a lav on the talent and stop and place it on the other guy when he talks if you don't have a spare. Put the CG at the bottom and make it white, yellow, or cyan - they're easiest to read.
That's why you should hire a professional videographer and your videos will look and sound outstanding, and give your presentation a professional edge.
BTW, a lav is a lavalier mic that is placed closed to the source of sound to improve audio quality and eliminate background noise.
@Ninj4ZX lol, that's funny. I see the video you copied is gone. Maybe you should shoot and build your own for a change instead of reposting mine. I laugh at you.
Do you have any info on the technical hold that Kawasaki has placed the new ZX-10R this month and whether it relates to bikes sold in Canada? A dealer I spoke to in Montreal this week said he'd never even heard of it.
@adc3n good point, however there is a point where the ABS engages, that's what Dave is talking about. Unfortunately when you do an unscripted, seat of the pants review, some things are said that are unclear. We also had a voice volume issue, but thanks for watching!
Why do they cut it just at the end when they talk about the horsepower? I don't believe this bike has 207bhp as advertised, they dyno'ed it elsewhere and only got 174hp and that was the unrestricted version...
@erniethefart If that dyno measured the HP at the rear wheel, then that sounds about right when you take drive-train loss into consideration. Vehicle manufacturers, cars and motorcycles, advertise the power of the engine on its own since it's a bigger number than at the wheels. Bigger numbers sound better for marketing. :)
It's pronounced Ah-cra-po-vich not ak-ra-po-vic Sorry to sound like a spotter but it's actually somebodys name so I think it's respectful to get it right. I appreciate that not many people seem to know this but at least you do from now.
@RedlineMS501 the only thing i was wondering is if i could put a indertail exhaust on it and make it look like the 08 zx6r stock or the cbr's not those double pipes or on the sides of the tail just line it up and have it looking good you know i love the undertail's
@RedlineMS501 I saw a Ninja decal on the side, and it has full fairing. I think that is a Ninja 1000. The color through me off because its only gonna be Black or Black and Burgandy in the states, I guess Canada gets the Green one (looks like the Euro Z1000SX (same bike)) The Ninja 1000 is based off the Z1000 but has a larger fuel tank and fairings.
Great review! Better than what MotoUSA and MCN does. Loved how objective you were! You weren't prejudiced by Kawasaki to say "Oh it was really lovely!" like Im sure they do with the magazines! Great job guys. Keep this template for any other vid reviews you do in the future, cos it works. Cheers from Australia.

Yamaha R1 or Kawi ZX10r? opinions, anyone?
schecterguitarsfan 3 months ago
@schecterguitarsfan it depends which year.
2004/5 definitely the ZX10r. It's a crazy bike and very, very fun to ride. I will try to kill you though.
2006/7 the R1 is better. The dual undertail ZX10r's are a piece of crap. Heavy and boring.
2008~2010, either bike they are both good. With a good pipe, the R1 sounds like a GP bike.
2011+ the ZX10r, it's a much better bike on all accounts.

Thanks
Bruno

@Brunocmarino I wouldn't say any bike is really better. In the hands of a top rider, the BMW may be faster but for us average folks I think the difference will not be significant. The BMW makes more hp but the traction control on the Kawi is better so who knows which on is better. They are both awesome.

@RedlineMS501 Also, as many know, rider skill is the biggest bottleneck in speed.

Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

interesting video, but audio sucked and CG was terrible, and the jump cuts made things look spastic and amateurish. Next time, use a lav on the talent and stop and place it on the other guy when he talks if you don't have a spare. Put the CG at the bottom and make it white, yellow, or cyan - they're easiest to read.
johnnyViDeO 1 year ago
@johnnyViDeO we are amateurs and don't have a lav whatever that is. Thanks for your advice anyways.
RedlineMS501 1 year ago
That's why you should hire a professional videographer and your videos will look and sound outstanding, and give your presentation a professional edge.
BTW, a lav is a lavalier mic that is placed closed to the source of sound to improve audio quality and eliminate background noise.

Do you have any info on the technical hold that Kawasaki has placed the new ZX-10R this month and whether it relates to bikes sold in Canada? A dealer I spoke to in Montreal this week said he'd never even heard of it.

so it didn't break 200hp? what did it make?

@Firebirdcg73 nope not even close. I just posted the dyno video, check it out.

snero3 1 year ago
@adc3n good point, however there is a point where the ABS engages, that's what Dave is talking about. Unfortunately when you do an unscripted, seat of the pants review, some things are said that are unclear. We also had a voice volume issue, but thanks for watching!
RedlineMS501 1 year ago
Why do they cut it just at the end when they talk about the horsepower? I don't believe this bike has 207bhp as advertised, they dyno'ed it elsewhere and only got 174hp and that was the unrestricted version...
erniethefart 1 year ago
@erniethefart If that dyno measured the HP at the rear wheel, then that sounds about right when you take drive-train loss into consideration. Vehicle manufacturers, cars and motorcycles, advertise the power of the engine on its own since it's a bigger number than at the wheels. Bigger numbers sound better for marketing. :)

Hey really nice review I'd say you put a lot more detail in comparison with some professional journalist videos

It's pronounced Ah-cra-po-vich not ak-ra-po-vic Sorry to sound like a spotter but it's actually somebodys name so I think it's respectful to get it right. I appreciate that not many people seem to know this but at least you do from now.

Is that an imported Z1000SX in the background of some of this video? Or are you guys in Europe?
dracdrum 1 year ago
@dracdrum we are in Calgary, Canada. The Z1000 in the background is the all new 2011 model.

@RedlineMS501 the only thing i was wondering is if i could put a indertail exhaust on it and make it look like the 08 zx6r stock or the cbr's not those double pipes or on the sides of the tail just line it up and have it looking good you know i love the undertail's
SuperHutch7 1 year ago
