How were you able to film this train departing? Aren't there people restricting acess to the platform only to ticketed pasengers at the station, and only once the track number has been called? Or was that implemented only in 2009?
its great, the seats are comfortable. If your planning to sleep on the amtrak I would choose the seats over the beds. The seats lean back and the back of the seat of the person in front of you has something to pull down to put your feet on. The seats are I think blue velvate. There is a plug in spot next to the seats below the window, and there is lots of space. It is rather enjoyable. But some of the amtraks often shake, the first one I went on didn;t at all but than the last one I went on did.
ya i took this thing to go dfown to florida i just got back 3 hours ago it took 26 hours to get from newark to tampa and the same time back everything is good except the sleeping part sleeping in your seat sucks i barely got sleep

At least they run with electricity, are faster and more frequent unlike here in California.

I hear that. I can never sleep on a train (I haven't been on amtrak only VR in finland) but hey, beats planes!

Don't do amtrak on the west coast. The coast starlight is always late. The cascades are ok and always on time
