  • Brick, my 17-mos old Vizsla, kills squirrels. Thank God they make more for him.

  • Years ago when I first thought about getting a dog I didn't really know what breed I was gonna own. This year I brought a Vizsla pup (bitch) and now she is well and truly a beloved member of my family. I will never own another breed! These are wonderful dogs who possess a great personality.

  • The lady owners pronounciation is correct: "zs" is pronounced as the "J" in the French name "Jean".

  • Who cares how the name is pronounced! Tomato Tomahto. These dogs are amazing stop ruining the comments by arguing about pronunciations.

  • Vizslas are great dogs

  • People say that vizslas are Velcro dogs. So true! My vizsla walks with me all around the house!

  • So true. My Vizsla never runs out of sight. I don't have to worry, he'll stick around. Such an awesome dog.

  • OMG I HAVE A VIZSLA AND HE LOVES ME

  • Hungary for 4 ever ;)

  • I have a vizsla, Rocky. I'm out doing my masters, and I miss it like I miss the rest of my family.

  • most beautiful and faithful breed ^^ I could never have another dog than a vizsla =)

  • no way. its veeeeeeeeeeeeshhhhhhlaaaaaaaaa

  • It's really annoying how they're pronouncing the breed's name!!!!!! They did this on dog whisperer. It's VIZ-LA! I'm not hungarian and even I KNOW THAT!!

Why are they using the E instead of the I? It's so simple. If it was suppose to be "Veeshla" then it would have a E in it!! But anyways, this is such a fantasic breed. My Vizzy named Ruby is just... so funny and will too follow me to the end of the earth.... until she spots another dog! XD

  • Szerintem örülni kellene, hogy ezt az igen jó MAGYAR fajtát dícsérik. Egyébként az amerikaiak is kötekedhetnének, mivel sok magyarnak nem korrekt a kiejtése. Mondhatta volna azt is, hogy hungarian pointer, de mégis inkább a nehezebb magyar szót választotta. Ez dícséretes.

  • why is my vizsla so lazy? shes more happy to sleep than go outside.

  • We have 2 Vizslas and this seems to be the secret. We have a 1 1/2 year old puppy and an 8 year old rescued Vizsla. With 2 they can ran and play with each other at a Vizsla pace which can be fast. The 8 year old isn't as active as our puppy. But he will ran with her and swim with her in our pool. My wife shows the puppy. This is our breeders web site if you are interested: vizcayavizslas com Our dog is Ginger. Our dogs will drive us nuts if they don't get their outside time to play.

  • Viz-la, not Veeeeeeshla

  • Wrong. It's veezsh-la.

    Absolutely NOT viz-la

  • Don't tell me mate, I live in Hungary and I speak Hungarian.

  • I'm calling you a liar, pal.

I've bred and shown these dogs for 25 years and have traveled to and imported several from Hungary. I've heard the breed's name spoken there.

The zs sound is pronounced "sh".

Zsa Zsa Gabor's name isn't pronounced Za Za.

  • What are you calling me a liar about? The fact that I live in Hungary, or that I speak Hungarian? By the way "Zs" isn't pronounced "sh" you stupid fool and it isn't a sound it is the LAST LETTER OF THE HUNGARIAN ALPHABET. My sister in law is called "Zsuzsi" so I know exactly how to pronounce it thanks. My original comment was referring to the way that the know-it-all septic tank narrator says"veeeeeeeeeeeeshla" which is incorrect, there is no "E" in the word.

    Beszélsz Magyarul?

  • enye benye... I pronounce it as it is in Hungarian, and yet I love how when I go to PetsMart, etc. and people ask what type of dog I have, I love how *none* of them know what a "Vizsla" is... magyarorszagon pedig mindenhol talalhato a faj!

  • i totally agree with you :)

Német vagyok, de három magyar ViZSla van <3

Für die Deutschen, der Vizsla ist (meiner Meinung!) der beste Hund. Ich hab schon einige Hunde verschiedenster Rassen gehabt, doch nur der Vizsla war am lehrreichsten und am anhänglichsten :)

  • Jesus...

It is vizsla! It is a Hungarian dog, that's why we call them not veezshla or vizla, but vizsla, and you must pronounce it vizsla and not "vishla"! That's all!

  • Why is it so important to pronounce it perfectly? I have never seen a native English speaker blaming on me because I couldn't pronounce an English word correctly. Actually I am happy to hear that they know about the origin of the vizsla and they call the dog "hungarian vizsla" instead of "hungarian pointer" however it would be much easier for them.

  • u are right!!!
