Tal would NOT have enjoyed today's game. Computer programs like Rybka have reduced the kind of tactical genius Tal possessed to be mundane and accessible to even a 10 year old.
@PrUnEJuIcEtHeThIrD That's a pretty dumb statement; you completely miss the point!
It's one thing for a computer or post-game analysis to 'refute' a speculative sacrifice, or repulse a strong attack. It is an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT thing for a flesh-and-blood human to find, over the board, the one precise series of 'only' moves that will save him. Chess is a sporting event, a complex struggle between two opponents; it is NOT a dry, analytic exercise in 'logic.'
Misha, you will live in our hearts forever. Your games will always be a reminder of how God visited earth and taught us to play real chess. My words will forever be lame to express my admiration towards your legacy. We love you, Misha!
Tal was the greatest genius in chess. He had health problems he was playing drunk against grandmasters and winning them and he never studied chess a lot,but he won the world chess championship. He was the god of chess.
@Orfeus2009 YEs, he was a genius but it is not true that he never studied chess. He studied it so hard so he sacrificed his health - check Gligoric , Bronstein and other former super grandmasters what they said about Tal.
My friend check also what Botvinik said about Tal.That if he had studied a lot like the other grandmasters,he didn't have health problems,he wasn.t alcoholic then it would be just imossible to sit next to him to play.Simply he would have been the only chessplayer that he wouldnt even have 1 loss in a chessgame.Kaissa would lost always against him.Tal was the god of chess.
"The patriarch of chess was not prepared for such a turnabout of events. That cheeky boy did whatever he want on the chessboard. A demonic fire burned in his eyes while the audience cheered and the patriarch faltered..."
"The victory turned out to be more than convincing: 12,5 to 8,5 points. Tal became World Champion, on top of that the youngest one so far. He was only 23 years old.
He couldn't leave the hall and was forced to go through the backdoor. After the match a crowd of eastern fans literally flooded the place in front of the theatre..."
