  • niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

  • Badass: pure, unadulterated badass.

  • "i would suck those nipple dry,

if only he played for me live"

may his toothless ashy mouth forever howl the blues into the earhole of my heart.

  • @marcuskim2011321 um wtf

  • Uram!Van nekem is bocsánat?

    Lord.!Have,mercy on me too?(But...i don't care)

  • a friend turned me on to junior several months ago,and have been listening every since.my little girl of 6 months loves it,if she's fussing a little put in some junior and she just sails away.

  • Im 24 fucking love Kimbrough, He got me into the Black Keys, and there Covers album is good but nothing beats the real deal.

  • I love being an 18 year old kid introducing my 50 year old dad to new blues music and defying teenage stereotypes. We don't all listen to horrible music, believe it or not.

  • @w1ngman319 haha exactly the same here, my dad is even a bit older though :D

  • The king

  • Slow, Smooth, and lower than the basement apartment..... all heart and good blues......

  • A one chord old school bluesman. Doesn't get much better than that.

  • @itchyundies you know i was havin a pretty shitty day till i read that lol... nicely put friend. balls to the wall goodness for sure.

  • could be louder

  • i hipped my dad to Junior Kimbrough...now we both love him.

  • my dad is a blues fanatic but he dont know this guy. i should buy him da album no

  • Its like I've been sleeping.... now i know what music is.

  • one of my favorite blues players

  • Fantastic, can't get enough of this stuff

  • A big FUCK YOU to the dislikers of this vid....that means that you had to look this vid up to dislike it. I hope they reserve a special place in hell for you. A place that belongs to rapists, and people who talk at the theater.

  • @satmoore3381 Amen brother

  • @satmoore3381 yeah fuck you too, and i love kimbroughs music. i get tired of people talking shit like this on other peoples taste, at least they took the time to check it out

  • @cjg8634 keep your mouth shut next time man. you're not gonna change my mind about saying what I want to haters. Just listen to the music, click "like" if you want, and keep your opinions about my comment to yourself.

  • @satmoore3381 "I can say whatever I want, but if someone disagrees with me, then they aren't allowed to voice their opinion."

Are you that shallow that you can't take someone disagreeing with your point of view? Who even gives a shit? Do you know how much harm comes when someone simply dislikes something on the fucking internet? Nothing. Nothing fucking happens. Stop trying to make trouble when there isn't any.

  • @becausehorse first of all, its a Firefly reference...I really mean no harm bud

  • @satmoore3381 Or, like me, they could have clicked on a link from Facebook or something and this isn't their taste in music. They didn't have to look this video up to dislike it. I'm just playing the Devil's Advocate, I do like this song.

  • @technicallyabsurd well dont take my comment literally. blues rock right now is my life!

  • @satmoore3381 good answer mate

  • only people that have seen alot of shit can make music this soulful

  • Comment removed

  • i actually like the keys version of this song better, although i prefer junior overall

  • RAW

  • @USgovernmentLies me too!

  • 6 dislikes??? Must be a mistake...

  • @twothousandpeople Their sound card must not be working. Junior is among the best! I just wish there were more like him! I have been playing guitar for a long time and I think he was amazing! I watched a documentary that said that he never played anyone else's music but his own....all original!

  • @dlangemusic there are heaps like him man, r.l. burnside, cedell davis, t model ford, all the delta bluesmen. think they're on fat possum records

  • @moogietherat theyre all great!

  • @itchyundies LOL

  • Amen Junior.

  • This is one of those mother fukers that stick to your soul

  • my life without Mr. Junior Kimbrough is like a junkies life withouth heroin.

  • Take ALL the music done in the past 20 years and this has more soul and balls than ALL of it added together!! To sing the blues like this ya gotta live them! Damn this is the shit!!!

  • @itchyundies best comment i've ever read on any website IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. thank you!

  • dhizz iss an awsomee sonqq !!

  • This guys the real deal

  • @mspon44 Totally dude!

  • @akp7185 Yes, on their EP Chulahoma: The songs of Junior Kimbrough. It came out in 2005. Its Track #2. The whole album is amazing!

  • Wau, endlich wieder einmal Musik...!

  • @akp7185 Yes actually, they covered six Junior Kimbrough tunes including this one on their 2006 album Chulahoma. One of my favorites.

  • such a bad ass picture

  • @northgrid not a single fuck was given that day

  • @northgrid - It was taken on his 30th birthday.

  • @BrerRobot That is sarcasm, right?

  • @PaperTreeMusic. No that's really him

  • @northgrid go to the hell muca

  • supercool

  • Christ! Life is short. What the fuck are we?

  • @UniversalPain I believe we are humans, but I could be wrong.

  • His music is like a married woman with a wicked smile and seductive eyes........even when you know she's trouble and it's wrong you can't help making your way across to bar to say hello while her husband is away from her side......we all know the old story Robert Johnson to Muddy Waters to Chuck Berry to Cpaton to Hendrix to blah, blah, blah to Lil' Wayne...the first time I heard Junior I knew that every dark place modern music tries to take us Junior had already been there and done that.

  • @biglon68 Li'l Wayne is NOT ART... Fuck it. Yeah he is. I t just happens that I don't like it. But my opinion doesn't matter. Yeah you said it right. Blues is a good man feeling bad. Blues is an attempt to find some meager resolution in an unhappy situation. Blues is anger converted to beauty. Blues is a smited lover poisoning an olive oil-voiced bard. Blues is all of that.

And I'll bet my life that Junior fooled around with the wrong guy's wife a few times. In that case, call me a bluesman.

  • @biglon68 nicely written.

  • Tight as fuck

  • i swear sometimes this is dan they sound so alike

  • May you rejoyce the Lord with your mighty, mystic blues.

  • I can't quite put my finger on what's different about Junior and other Bluesmen. Is it that he's electric? Idk what it is but its so suductive and sad, its gorgeous.

  • i love his style of playing. its hypnotic.

  • thank you for creating the black keys mr junior..im not a strong believer in god but the blues are my heaven (;

  • Okay, someone please explain...my friend turned me on to The Black Keys and I'm a big fan of them. One day on last.fm while on my xbox, I was listened to TBK radio and Junior was one of the related artists. I've been listening to this music and I love it just as much as I love TBK. You can really see how much this man influenced them. My question is, is "Have Mercy on Me" by TBK a (revised?) cover of this song? They sound a lot alike but not enough to be an exact cover.

  • @Irock124 Nevermind. I feel like a dumbass. I never knew that Chulahoma was a tribute album.

  • I came to this video indirectly by way of one of my favorite bands that covers a few Jr songs. I've seen some comments here where people are wondering if anyone still plays like this, and thought I'd turn you on (if you're not from North Mississippi and already know of them) to North Mississippi Allstars and the Hill Country Review. Luther Dickenson is a guitar master, playing blues with this feel.

  • @cewinterland Add T-Model Ford , Alvin Youngblood Hart, Jimbo Mathus, Kenny Brown and Richard Johnson to the list from the north Mis'sippi area. Check out Delta Moon for more of the groove from Georgia. Papa Mali, Moreland and Arbuckle are also in the groove. Mis'sippi Fed McDowell for where the the groove originated..

  • @MAGOOil now that's the truth.......

  • I dunno about the rest of you people, but as I was listening to this song I completely went to a different world. Like I was flying and I could feel the wind hitting my face, I know it sounds weird but as you listen you'll know what I mean.Junior Kimbrough, gotta love the blues man

  • this song makes me want to dig up granpa and drink a beer with him...

  • @tastybedsore sad and funny all at the same time xD

  • delta black snake electric crawlin thru the campfire the whiskey bottles thru the 12 gauge shotgun sinuous ravening toxic heartbreaker jr kimbrough brings it man like a dark cloud of nothing but lightning and hurt

  • what a sick riff!

  • When I listen to this, the whole outside world melts away and all I hear is Junior on the guitar and its amazing!

  • damn... just a 10 minute jam session on whats got to be one of the best blues lines ever written... and that doesn't even cover the meaning and soul behind and in the lyrics

*sigh.* two things that you never see in music anymore. I wish I was born 50 years ago so this would be the mainstream instead of today's garbage.

  • no junior no black keys

  • fucken perfect song to put one in your liver

  • a lot of people think blues music is depressing, I think it brings my body and soul alive :) but that's just my opinion :P

  • Wow! I missed the meaning of my life until I found Mr. Kimbrough and Mr. Burnside.. This is epic!

  • @turkishpower08 listen to John Lee Hooker :) his music is totally epic

  • @meinsaneplz I am already! I knew him even before I met Kimbrough and Burnside.. I love Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters and all other blues greats!

  • magical song. his soul seems to seep from the sound. It's... serene.

  • Some skoal straight and a case of brews and this song feels just fine

  • Blues need to come back in a big way.

  • I was lucky enough to see Junior before he passed away. The Fat Possum Mississippi Juke Joint Caravan with R.L. Burnside (another great) and Lil Dave Thompson (one of the up and coming). All three were excellent. Unfortunately all three are now gone (Thompson was killed earlier this year).

  • God Bless the blues.

  • thank you black keysssss

  • nobody laugh, but Marilyn Manson's new song "Four Rusted Horses" reminds me so much of Kimbrough's vibe, it's a pity Jr. didn't do it first! "forbidden in heaven and useless in hell" yeah, that sums up Jr. pretty well, i'd say!

  • @jteshuwah Thanks for referencing this song! I gave it a listen and I can definitely see the similarity. Does Manson have other songs like "Four Rusted Horses"? I don't know much about his work, but I'm intrigued now.

  • why don't more people my age listen to the good stuff anymore!!

  • @ThePowerslave94 cause no one bothers looking for the good stuff and i'm 16 and so glad i found them :D

  • @strwbrryfldsfrvr0 its weird cos the reason i dfound out about the black keys is because of junior... and i found out there are alot of good bands now a days you need to know where to look ( most bands from sweden are incredible try listening to graveyard thats the best new band i can find.... other than that ill keep listening to the good ol stuff)

  • @ThePowerslave94 sorry about the last part post, but yeah i'll surely give them a listen :D

I'm open minded to music and the mainstream stuff just sucks, i'll admit sometimes it's decent but i prefer looking for the stuff where the artist put soul in creating their music

  • Lawd ha muddy on me! And thank you, The Black Keys, for introducing me to some more good blues.

  • love the blues all i wanna do is finger pick

  • thank you black keys for introducing me to such a great artist.

  • so nice blues! love it!

  • fucking awsome !!! 10 thumbs up

  • What 3 assholes voted this thumbs down?

  • inspiration

  • Awesome!!! The Black Key's version is good... but not as good as this...

  • junior is the raw.......

  • wow this is amazing , never heard about him until now ..now i have new music to listen 2 .

  • Comment removed

  • There's nothing not blues about Junior. Tell friends. 53 K views ain't enough.

  • aw man that guitar playing just raises the hairs on my neck. damn straight im hypnotized, this guy knows what he's doing

  • SOUL !!!

  • He's just so fucking original! seriously listen to this shit it's insane.

  • Pure Mississippi Mud.

    Enriched.

  • the blues will never die because the blues were never a "scene" to begin with. raw, beautiful.

  • Thanks for the upload dude :)

As far as The Black Keys go , they made a whole album called Chulahoma from Jr. Kimbrough songs , and Chulahoma is Jr's hometown ; so that shows the type of respect they have for him ; and I think Jr. Kimbrough deserves every bit of credit due to him.

  • This recording is the epitome of juke joint gold. Good on ya, Junior....

  • This is the best kind of music right here. Deep soul blues with a hint of rock.

  • If I had to spend the rest of my life on the moon this be one of the albums I take with me.

  • what if the old school blues came back... can you image what else can be remade with todays instruments. DAMN. Thats why I love the keys, they leave the music simple. Seems everyone thinks you have to constantly be making noise to make music.

  • greatest blues musician ever other than Tommy Johnson

  • well, find it in your heart to purchase an album of his; he's probably "dying" for a liver or kidney transplant by now :D or some other operation which is expensive.

  • hes already dead..

  • he's been dead for years.

  • stripped down raw blues

  • i love the blues. but i aint as rich as you people to be able to afford albums galore. youtube has saved many music fans souls

  • I'll drink to this!

  • omg i just stumbled across this guy.. WOW amazing stuff!

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME FIND HIS ALBUMS?

ive been looking for the torrents but know one is seeding anything! PLEASE if you have any of jr's stuff send me a message! thanks :)

  • most junior fans are of the opinion that this is an artist that is worth shelling out cash for, so they don't seed his discs.

  • its artists like junior that SHOULD be seeded and shared and known to the world, especially the kids. music is dying and money and marketability is the reason.

ah but maybe you're right... lets just keep his stunning and soulful work to ourselves. fuck the future of music.

  • @sdubbbb Whatever happened to just buying the album? From a store.

People are so goddamn helpless. Not everything comes from the internet. Yet.

  • the internet happened. give me a break man, you're listening to junior on youtube...

    people are so goddamn helpless...

  • @sdubbbb What? I'm just saying, if you want to listen to music, go to the store and buy it. It's not that hard. No one is keeping this music to themselves, you can get it if you want it.

  • Just jumping in here. A lot of music stores now a days don't really carry much. if you want a kimbrough cd you would most likely have to order in and it would cost atleast thrity where i live. Its situations like that where something like itunes would be better. then again... id love to run into some of his stuff at the vinyl sales i go to.

  • @KMKlym I guess I'm just living under the impression that if you look hard enough, you'll find the CD that you want. Not always true, yeah. 30$ wouldn't be that bad either. And yes, iTunes is good, because you are paying for the music.

I'm just saying, I would feel kinda bad if I was a big fan of someone and then downloaded their music for free. And I guess I could use downloading as a last resort. But it's more satisfying when you look for a CD and then find it.

  • he has nothing on vinyl did not record until late in his long past the days of vinyl

  • @bigjrritchie vinyl is printed on a regular basis in today. In fact, many releases in the 90's came out on record weeks before the CD.

  • @bigjrritchie I actually have some Junior vinyl.

  • @brycebarwick i am not necessarily saying that i support pirating, but what exactly is the difference between that and uploading it on youtube...?

there are also different programs you can use to download music from youtube and so on...

  • @brycebarwick

i think junior would be spinning in his grave.

he was a delta bluesman, the epitomy of poor, working class, southern black guys.

i personally think he'd prefer it shared for free than bought for

  • What a fuckin' good blues track !

  • Nothin Like the old hill country stomp. God bless junior

  • old MATHAFUCKER !!

  • first time listener..2 words..god dame...GODDD DAMEEE

  • Thank god for the black keys, or else i would never have heard this genius. I can't believe somebody could channel their soul and their raw emotion like him. I've never heard anything like this before or after. Hendrix, the black keys are the three most amazing blues spin-off artists I've ever heard. Junior is top ten guys I'd choose to meet in history given the chance.

  • Yeah I heard them on my pandora black keys station who I got into from my black angels station, funny little progression.

  • I just wanna sit on the tailgate of a truck with a fifth of Jack, take long drags off a cig, and gaze in to a fire all night long.

  • fuck yeah

  • @smazzocity fuck , thats exactly what i wanna do after listening to this

  • @smazzocity you are a fucking douchebag..nobody wants to hear about how gay your life is..take your pathetic alcoholic ass somewhere else..Junior would roll over in his grave if he saw you post this....

  • @kdavidkoreshk Epic trollage.

  • fucking brilliant man amazing track lovin it peace out

  • Check out R.L. Burnside and T-Model Ford. All Mississipi Delta Blues players, and i think they were all on the same label.

"I didn't mean to kill nobody ... I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Him dying was between him and the Lord."

    ~R.L. Burnside

  • Dig Robert Belfour as well.

  • @murphf06 *ARE (posthumously) on the same label, and its called fatpossum

  • Does anyone know of any other blues artists like Junior with drums and all? Thanks

  • if you guys haven't checked em out yet, look up north mississippi allstars. the singer/guitarist's family was friends with kimbrough and rl burnside. he grew up sitting in with both of them. he also played guitar on the black crowe's war paint album

  • The Black Keys are probably my favorite band and like many others, chulahoma is how i originally heard this song, and with respect to the Keys and Junior, I think this version is better. The Black Keys version is awesome, but this one is just so dam raw and solid. In my opinion this is exactly what a blues song should sound like. But at the end of the day both of these are artists are true masters of the blues.
