  • an eye sight for terrorist...

  • a little higher and God would destroy it like the Babel tower! and everyone would speak diferent laguanges!

  • holy shit that thing is tall!

  • Fly into it. (just kidding)

  • this is huge ........

  • we should crash one 747 and two a380s into the burj dubai!!!

  • ridiculous... in the middle of the desert, with no lack of space, this monster of a building, just out of stupid pride, nouveaux riches´vulgarity... thousands of workers from India, Pakistan etc, exploited... capitalist nightmare in the middle of the third world, only made possible by oil´s money... really sad that they couldn´t find more reasonable ways to squander their undeserved money...

  • @samfrommadrid

you live in the third world if you think it's ridiculous the sheik just likes it big

  • Dumb-ai as it should be known for building huge structures in the middle of a hot desert where drinking water has to be imported and chilled. That their was a perfect example of how stupid arabs are

  • is the big bulding of the world ...world trade center was a litlle bulding ..but burf is huge ...fuck

  • You guys are both idiots if your gonna argue about something so pointless. It's the world's tallest building. lets enjoy it not argue about.

  • Generally, when you build a building of this type, you need occupants to pay for it. Since that is not necessary in this case... there are no occupants. Just another empty building.

  • Hmmm ... most buildings tend to be empty while they are being built.

  • Crazy how there is absolutely no development just within a mile of this humongous tower. I've never seen that anywhere else in the world.

  • While children in Africa and elsewhere suffer famine and HIV infections, the Arab world is busy spending billions of their "hard earned" oil dollars in vanity projects. Lack of humanity and social responsibility is the sad conclusion of all this. KEEP GOING!

  • It's not fair to just blame the Arabs

  • blame the us. in dubai now 20 years it was poverty if i remind wel

  • shut your stupid IGNORANT mouth.

  • Oh my god, you are so rude! Why a different opinion bothered you so much? Here you have a wonderful opportunity to fight "ignorance" and you, instead, are making a idiot out of yourself.

  • lol, im making an idiot of myself by not going into the details and delicacies of global poverty on youtube? Nice one.

  • lol, but instead you ridicule others and their opinions! Nice one. Pal, YOU ARE an idiot! You wont get another response from me... enjoy the last word! PEACE

  • APXONTIKO, I thought I told you to shut up!

  • you sound like you have never been online, welcome.

  • ive been there =P

  • i live there =-D

  • is the real city 17 of halflife 2

  • Welcome, welcome to city 17.

  • I hate heights and my palms get sweaty just watching all these videos of this most incredible feat of engineering.

  • Comment removed

  • wow . I will go to Dubai soon, knowing that the distance between the area where I live, about 2000 km from Dubai

  • They will take those cranes and throw them away.

I would ask, where does the electrical power come from?

  • i just want to know how the hell they will get those cranes down when there fiished?

  • Probably the same way they've brought them up..

  • I'm guessing they use the last crane to lower all the others. The last crane presents a problem I think they solve by disassembling and getting it off the roof in smaller pieces with a lift, small permanent crane, or even helicopters.

"Probably the same way they've brought them up.."

That would require disassembling the building as well.

(there are various ways to keep it from bumping.)

  • In probably 20 or 30 years Dubai will be a complete Masterpeice of amazement

Its one place anyone could say yes to visit...even if it is in the middle east

  • Until the oil money runs out, and then they're completely fucked due to living in a desert.

  • Actually in 2008, the United Arab Emirates earned 62.5% of its GDP from non-oil related sales. The biggest problem is the lack of water though, I give you that and the desalination plants are very energy intensive. They're buildind new experimental off-shore wave-power generators off the coast of Cornwall (UK) which will provide power for 7,500 homes. That same technology could easily be used to power desalination plants as the wave-generators can literally be hundreds of miles out to sea.

  • Masterpiece of amazement..?? It already is & has been for a very long time..!!

  • okay, so why do you need a 1/2mi tall bldg ? because you can !! Still, the logistics (plumbing, HVAC, etc.) are all going to be experimental in this bldg. There's no model in which to have ever tried it before.

  • before i die, im base jumping of it

  • Damn they are fucking fast xD

Januari 2008 , only 40 floors or something and now they are almost done :|

  • its nearly half the hight of swedens highest mountain!

  • imagine those construction workers all the way at the top then look down. they probaby going 2 make it go as far the ozone layer if possible lol at this fast pace.

  • Scary. So when the "eye of sauron" will be placed on the top? Fucking illuminatis. They want to rule us but God will take revange.

  • Illuminati wants your mind soul and your body

  • "So when the "eye of sauron" will be placed on the top?"

    lol good one

  • If you need answers there is a website, go to google and search for " burj dubai progress" and take the first one that pops up.

  • Visit uaestarguide com

  • its 1/9/09 is it done yet?? can anyone tell me?

  • Nope it's not done yet.

  • how many stories is it now, and how much longer till done

  • I dunno but it's pretty fucking high, that's for sure.

  • thanks

  • does anybody know how many stories its going to be in the end run

  • dont think it was announced yet, but i heard theyre done building up

  • i heard the same thing

  • i was there yesterday!!

  • i didnt wanna oporate one of that goddamn crane its gotta be shitty job ever

  • mmm, how did they take up the cranes? or...

how will they take them down? O_O

  • how scared are the workers up there?!?!?!

  • Boo!!!!!

    But, nice tower

  • but its built in desert

  • 120 in the shade

  • Scary!

  • JENGA!!

  • this building really has reached a fucking great height that dwarfs any other skyscraper, and overall its HUGE likd to see it myself

  • I might be wrong but, any free falling object on earth falls at 9.8 meters per second and the speed increases by about 9.8 meters per second every second. So I think this is how u can calculate how long it will take.

  • Ah, but there is a point where you stop accelerating, when you reach terminal velocity.

Take this into consideration when performing any calculations.

  • dam!!

  • my auntie lives there and they are doing tours up to the 20th floor from it but they are not revealing the height of it incase they try to get beaten

  • Typical IM conversation in 2020:

"So how far do you live from work?"

    "2 blocks'

    "Oh that must be nice"

"Well yea, but it still takes me over 40min to get to work, because i have to take 3 different elevators down, then go over the 2 blocks which are a mile each, then 2 elevators back up, then to the bathroom to throw up"

"Oh, well at least you must have a nice view"

"Actually the view is of an open desert, reminding me of how we are all raping earth of its natural resources."

  • "The desert is pretty"

"I agree. We should make more desert"

  • what?how do you know all that,Dubai is one of best looking citys in the world at least they don't need to watch garbage all around the buildings like in new york city or chicago

  • lmao....haha...that's funny yet so true...it would be like that...lol

  • lol ur funny !!??

  • it will be about 1000m. maybe higher down the road they are building the al burj tower it will be even taller they say 1200m. for those of you who still dont understand how high that is its about 3000 feet. over a half a mile.

  • Amazing building, I've seen that building last year by 536,1 meters hight and 146 floors.

  • Gah, if you fell off the top of this thing you'd have a good chunk of time in which to consider your mistake before hitting the bottom.

  • maybe there is enough time to recognize someone is falling off and bring help to catch you out of the air before you hit the ground so maybe this tower isnt a god choice to suicide..

  • You would still only get about 10 or 12 seconds of falling though.

  • thats enough time :D

  • my ass...it takes a little over 2 seconds to fall 60 feet so way longer than 10 to 12 seconds

  • exactly 11.06 seconds for 600 meters

  • s=(u+v/2)t

    800=(0+94/2)t

    800=47t

    17 seconds.

  • then just go up to the the top, look at the view, then go back down to the 50th floor and jump.

  • How many floors?

  • at 0:25 you can see dubai mall at the left ... and it will be the biggest mall in the world

  • perfect spot fore basejumping

  • Dubai.. A perfect place for Stars Wars Episode 7.. lol..

  • lol! thats exactly what I thought when I first saw the tower! looks like something from

    the planet Coruscant!

  • thanks and please more about dubai :)

  • guauuuuu... maybe you could touch the clouds!!!!!!

  • is that gonna be the biggest building in the world

  • Yeah deffo! Its like 200m taller than the Taipei 101

  • Ohh! Id hate to be one of those crane operators! LOOK AT THE HEIGHT! =O

  • Makes me think in Barad dûr lol

  • yeah, there gonna set up a huge spire with an eye. lol.

  • How bout those guys running the cranes

taking a video camera with them. And showing

us pukes some real high altitude stuff.

  • that helicopter is completely redundant, lol

  • currently as of 30 May 2008(end of May). Burj Dubai has reach the height of over 665m tall...the latest progress of the construction...the tallest ever man made structure in the world///

juz imagine how damn tall is it!!!

  • At May 28, 2008, the Burj Dubai is supposed to be 628m tall, or 2063 feet high

  • no, it's already over 2150 feet, as of may 19th

  • Or as of May 19th it's 649.7m tall. Where do you get your poor information from?

  • wow, amazingly close!

  • at what feet were you?

  • Great vid!
