Term "Monkey Model" has a very broad meaning. If you can't describe particular aspects in which a particular "monkey model" is downgraded to original version, then you simply can't determine how dangerous or how not dangerous it would be against Abrams or Leopard.

@BitnikGr i guess what i'm referring to is from the first Gulf War, the gap between Iraqi T-72s and actual russian t-72s, that's about how big i see the gap between t-90s that any country with a reason to engage in a hot conflict with us and actual russian t-90s would be, because most of the countries that have the political connections and money to get decent t-90s are usually at most, indifferent towards the west

i think it has been said a thousand times already that the tanks used in Iraq were "monkey models" of T-72 and old T-55s. Which were giant paper weights. Calling T-80U and T-90S paperweights is either intentional trolling or total lazzyness on the part of the poster to get himself familiar with this tanks.

No, Im not angry), I just want to say that you should know more about new tanks, and especially abour protect system ARENA. It is only innovation, and installed on modern T80, dude it really unbelievably and if T90 will get it-all he will be almost invincible. There are some videos on utube about it.

You meant ARENA is an anvanced warning protective system, right. Using a highly sensivtive radar to detect incoming anti-tank rockets then counter-measure by firing rocket at the incoming weapons, some sort like that right?

it installed on the turret and automaticly hit all anti-tank shells with shrapnel before they touch tank armour. This is make any atack on tank senseless. If t 90 will get that one-he`ll become almost undead.

ARENA has little delay between defeat incoming attack, less 1 second, and RPG 32 with tandem warhead can break through it. But if guys in tank won`t sleep you`ll never come up close enough T90 with all his systems

Yeah, and I think modernized russian army won't sent such valuable asset alone into urban combat or mountain patrol. No wonder there is 0 losses on tanks during the South Ossetia War. Still, such technology I think that it is only available within the Russian army. Not for export, right?

Yes, armour in the city or mountains are very vulnerable to diff AT attack. But arena may some help this problem. I don`t know for sure about export complectation, only know that export T 90S haven`t some systems.

Wow, T-90 is one awesome tank. I thought that Russian tanks like most people said, are steel tombs. Many people said that T-90s are tanks for Abrams as target practice. I've never thought its protection is equal or even better to the Merkava tanks. Thanks for the Info : )

Who saud about steel tomb? Are they know anything about war? Abrams is 70 tonns steel tomb and silly target to 90. Merkava have good armour but not enough dinamic and speed. T 90 is 46-47 tonns weight, have D81 cannon 125 mm able to launch guided rocket. Abrams or other main tanks cant.

HEAT missiles with tandem warhead cannot defeat Arena. You can only defeat Arena if you fire two missiles one by one very fast so the second missile hits the tank while control system for the Arena is not yet able to detect it.

Tandem warhead means that there are two explosive charges in the warhead. One that is only HE meant to initiate the ERA charge, thus disabling it, while the second one (bigger) is HEAT and that one penetrates the passive armour of the tank.

Errr, sorry but I have no Russian typing. But I've actually see one in a video. A Javelin missiles was destroyed in midair by a T-80. In slow motion a projetile fly out on the turrent(right side) and hit the Javelin.
