  • I like it, when he sings "everbody needs an angel" and they show the truck driver's dog, they are really the most loyal "persons" and of a good nature

  • Daar word ik nu opgewekt van , den Bonnie en zijn paardjes !

  • Americana has rarely sounded sweeter.

  • Let the good lord do the driving

and "letting go" from amazon.. can't get enough of this guys music.

  • es increíble que esta canción no esté en spotify

  • Man... there's a version of this on Lost Blues and Other Songs.. with an outstanding guitar solo. Is that in a video anywhere?

  • The uploader has that one too. It's really good, ends with Oldham in a fistfight. Amazing.

Also, I thought it quite funny that the song ends in this video, then you can hear the end of the solo from the Palace Brothers version, I think the implication is that it's coming from the truck driver's cabin radio.

  • Hey man... much thanks. Totally and insanely great song. Don't have time to sort through everything on youtube, glad you lead me in the right direction.

  • ed zachary. so glad someone else noticed.

  • slicknslide - it's on that 'Greatest Palace Music' album - the one where he re-recorded a dozen or so songs with Nashville session musicians.

This song's a cover of a Mekons song (well it's written by Sally Timms of the Mekons in any case)

  • nice song xd

  • the Prince 4 -ever!! Hail to the Prince!!!

  • make those horses jump man, live your life free!

  • awesome singer..... love his & tortoise's version of thunder road.

kinda confusing to see he looks like such a bum, I always confused him with Prince XD

  • you come across like a right wing clown, not a good thing.

  • haha k....

    I'm from northern europe XD

actually my country, Iceland, is swaying really much to the right, it's kinda distressing, as scandinavia and like iceland & denmark & shit have always been doing very good as social democrats. The same thing is happening here as in England in like.. the 80s I think, under Margaret Thatcher, wait that's already happened, Tony blair also, I guess we're just like england now XD

  • yeah well... know what?

from now on I don't give a shit what some bum on the internet thinks about me.

but I know which type you're talking about, and I kinda loathe those kind of people, although I try not to be like mean to them. I just tell them to shut the fuck up in a nice tone if they get too much on my nerves XD

but yeah. I like to read about history and have some kind of idea what's happening around me....

  • Yep, I cant stop listening to his and Tortoise's cd.

  • awesome shit.

he's really got a terrific voice. I love listening to his take on thunder road when stoned by some superb Icelandic skunk.

  • Its all about the OG Kush

  • northern lights....

  • wait... how come I didn't notice my earlier comments? or did I?

    strange how the mind works..

  • good song realy nice

  • Real good song!!!

  • best song ever. I would be ridin horses let me!

  • well said lilicantdrive

  • I really dig BPB, Will. I think he is one of the greatest songwriters. His art to me, means so much, and has pulled me out of many a bad mood! I think others share my opinion, as for the Oasis statements... why do people want so badly to compare art??? Can't it be just what it is. Don't know why people have to knock other artist?

  • horses

  • It's perfection... thats what this song is!!

  • whats this song i you know message me

  • His voice is strange, unique and powerful. Listen to his new album and you'll be hooked. Slightly Jerry Garcia. Try "What's missing is". Sooooo good.

  • you nailed it.

  • if you like bonnie prince billy download(is free)"quando arriva la gente si sente meglio" that is an italian band's Ep. This band is called "Numero 6" and bonnie sing the first song: "da piccolissimi pezzi". Bye from Italy

  • wtf:s

  • Thanx Billy for this great music!

  • The trucker in this video is a Hells Angel...

the song reflects this as well. I have watched this video several times, and I love it every time! AFFA

  • Totally wonderful!

    Great song!

  • Verrückte Amis.

  • I really like this song ! 5 stars

  • Bonnie Prince Billy is truly great.

  • living legend.

  • stubed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Song!! I wish you could hear real music like this on the radio.

  • maybe the best song ever!!??

  • You must be kidding and/or deaf and stupid. Oasis are one of the worst 'bands' of all time, and are not worthy to lick the horse shit encrusted underside of Will Oldhams boots.

  • There is nothing wrong with being American, a pensioner or a virgin, although I am young, English and sadly no longer a virgin. I take it you are an Oasis fan, and that is a far better insult to throw at someone. Why not toddle off to watch an Oasis video, you clearly have no understanding or appreciation of music, proved further by your limited and naive belief that music should remain within the restrictive boundaries of 'engergetic and uplifting'.

  • I didn't claim that it was 'the greatest song ever', but nevermind. Why is calling somebody an oasis fan an insult? Hmm, where to begin! There is obviously not enough space here to list all of the reasons but, in short the 'music' oasis make is ,to coin a phrase 'bland and soulless' and anybody who enjoys listening to it is very likely to be the same. Now, enough bickering! x To paraphrase the great Bill Hicks, oasis are sucking satans cock. Simple. Now move on please! x

  • @blackeyelids - whilst I agree generaly on the oasis comments, they did have their moments, for example, cast no shadow is a truly great song that cuts to the heart of what is wrong with the music industry, but can be used as a methaphor for the "civilised west" generally, thank God for people like Billy!

  • lol oasis?

  • Great song great dog great truck!

  • come on, man, listen to it. it's not nashville, man, it's good country music. like it should be. like it used to be.

  • This song is horses, but reworked, I:ve been drinking whisky all night, But still prfer the first version.

  • wow you snatched that one right off my car dash. Anybody GOT the "Allmost Heaven" CD with Rian Murphy--4 songs of Admiralty!

  • I saw this video one time on New York Noise. I went and bought a Bonnie Prince Billy CD, not sure even what song this was. It happened to be Greatest Palace Music that I bought. Amazing stuff. This video is just great.

  • this guy's a genius!!!! i'll love him for life!!

  • the version on lost blues is much better!

  • Ha Ha Ha... let the good lord do the driving while the poor horse sinks to the street! I can smell the campfires burning, but I'll go walking on my own...

  • the poor boy sinks through the stream

  • Look at him, you don't think he improvises. I can't make out poor boy sinks through the stream, I tried. I wouldn't put it beyond him to invoke the old horse being whipped modern madness bit, why not.

  • a nietzsche allusion would be pretty cool, but it's clearly a voiced bilabial plosive, not a voiceless fricative.

  • sexy ^^

  • KLASSE!!

  • jko527 is an ass. Check the writing credits on the album sleeve (duh!)Written byBrendan Crker, Sally Timms, and John Langford-from "Sings Greatest Palace Music" by Bonnie Prince Billy The Mekons are a very good puk banfd that also made great non hokey country records that influrnced Will Oldham

  • 'Horses', which appears on both Somebody's Rockin' My Dreamboat and Songs of False Hope and High Values, has been covered twice by Will Oldham. He first performed it under the Palace Songs moniker, and later as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy.

  • i have it on a jon langford and sally timms side album, songs of false hopes and high values, i'm not aware of it being on a mekons album - if it is does anyone know which one?

  • Danced with my wife to this song on Newyears eve 07.

  • Great video!

Definitely an original Will Oldham song. I never heard of the Mekons covering it but that sounds like it could be cool too.

  • It's a "cover of his own song. The original is on "an arrow through the bitch "EP by Palace Brothers. This is the version he did for his album of his songs with a load of Nashville session players. The original is possibly even more excellent with a great Rawk geetar solo.

  • Its a Mekons' song, kids.

  • Who is Mekon's? hwo old is this song?? never heard of it.l but sounds good to me. What is teh title of it?

  • Godhead!

  • legend

  • Damn good song. Period.

  • Coolest bearded-man ever.

  • Will Oldham rules!

  • who sings this song?? and the tile.. its pretty cool. has a vagabond feel to it. some say Will oldham.. some say mekon;s

  • This is Will Oldham, aka Palace brothers, Palace, or Bonnie Prince Billy. Original is from the Mekons (of John Lanford and Sally Timms), but not available anymore on CD or LP.

  • there´s so much honesty in this video, a true ballad for the common man..Will Oldham at his best.....what a songwriting......

  • I think this song is a cover isn't it?

  • NO.
