@DaduMoa Well Bond was bowled out early and from memory Lee and Bichel put together a 80 odd run partnership. I think they got less than 200 and then our batsmen just wilted under pressure. We were all out for about 130 I think. It's the annoying thing about supporting the NZ cricket team, it's very rare that both batters and bowlers do well in the same game. One or the other usually has a bad performance. So frustrating, especially when could have bowled them out here for 110-120. Ah well

@roboticsmile Poor bowling too... I remember this game well. Once Harris, Vettori and Bond had bowled out their overs, the Australian tail-enders clobbered New Zealand. One of the bowlers even bowled a ball that bounced twice (Adams I believe), lol. Of course, the poor batting did not help either. I was hoping New Zealand would beat the Australians, but such is life :P.

i have watched all bonds matchs and his fastest ever delivery was 157-158 kph in the 2001-2002 vb tri series. iv never been able to see the bowl again but it rocketed in and ponting blocked it very awkudly then later remarked that it was the fastest delivery hes ever faced.

Yeah this game was there for the taking. From memory I remember fleming bowled bond out early which is why they added an extra 90 odd runs for the last 2 or so wickets. Batsmen as per usual choked. Still an amazing spell of bowling by Bond. Apparently he's got Ponting out nearly every time he's played Aus....some stat like that anyway.

shane bond, was truly my favorite bowler i have seen. Im only 14, so i didnt get a chance to witness akram, waqar, marshall, holding etc. But this guy just brought it all back. In my book, there will always be a special place for bond. Now im looking forward to the rise of Ishant Sharma, hoping that another precious talent like his will come.

wonderful cricketer, will be sorely missed from the game. If it wasn't for the injuries that shortened his playing career he would undoubteldy have been regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the history of the game - he will always be remembered as a great, but wasn't really around long enough to be considered the best ever.

Shane Bond should've held out a little longer before signing with the Indian rebel league.He would've picked up a big money contract with the IPL and still been able to play for the Kiwis.A real shame that he will never play international cricket again.

The problem is the ICL offered him $1mill a year regardless of whether or not he is injured. The IPL offered him something like $200k and if he was injured he wouldnt play. If he got into the auctions maybe he would get closer to $1mill, but he could have only played a handful of games. He's got a wife and kids to look after, sohe needed the money with his body not holding up well.

When Shane comleted his 10th over, Aussies scored 84 for 7 wickets. How can still NZ lose this match. Shane dismissed most of the aussie batsman. The rest of NZ Bowlers couldn't even dismiss last 3 lower order batsman. Shane's effort was ruined. No wonder why he is not playing for NZ anymore.

Bond is a bit like Akhtar.

They both suffer long term from injuries but they are also the best bowlers in the worl without a shadow of a doubt. Akhtar i feel has the edge.

the best line up in the world? you have to be joking... India has a legendary line up (which is admittedly aging), Australia can out bat new zealand any day with Ponting, Hayden and Clarke. England aswell with Cook, Pietersen, Bell and Collingwood. Pakistan with Younis Khan, Yousuf and Inzi (although the rest of their batting is pretty crap). Infact, the only teams NWZ can out bat on a regular basis are zimbabwe and bangladesh
