  • Now i see why i just couldn't get those damn zipers right! This video is awesome :)

  • Great explanation, thanks a lot!!!

I just didn't get it from the pattern explanation, now I can go ahead and do my first invisible zipper :-)

  • Helpful...Thanks...

  • Eindelijk een filmpje waarin alles me duidelijk wordt!

    Geweldig

  • Thank you for making this so easy. I thought I was going to go insane also. It's been years since I've done one of these and I could not find any instructions that made since with my new machine and the zipper foot i ordered for it specifically designed to install invisible zippers. You are a life saver!. I have followed other online instructions with less than perfect results. I see what has been wrong / missing from those. Thank you again!.

  • This is an excellent instruction video, but could you please remove the music - it's makes it difficult to hear your voice and the music is awful.

  • A concise, easy to follow tutorial! THANK YOU. Music was strange and interesting.

  • Thanks, this is the third video I came across invisible zippers and now this sewing rookie finally understands. Thank you for the very clear instruction! =)

  • This is the best invisible zip tutorial on YouTube.

  • Brilliant Video, very clear and a great help.

  • I apreciate you showing what to do below the zipper for the garment seam after sewing the zipper pieces. I have not seen that elsewhere so far. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much! You could not have been any clearer! That was by far the easiest to understand tutorial on sewing and technique I have seen. Thank you again!

  • i love you

  • Can the invisible zipper be put on after the pieces have already been sewn together? Or should the zipper be sewn on before attaching the back side of the garment to the front side?

  • awesome video, thanks for sharing

  • Thank you! I'm getting ready to sew my first and this is nice and clear!

  • ah, thank you! i've been having so much trouble with invisible zippers -.- this helps a lot :

  • this is the best inv zipper vid i have ever seen! thank you!

  • IS it possable, (if you take it rather slow) to use a normal zipper foot? I use an older, vintage sewing machine and I don't think they make feet for them anymore. Nor do I have funds to get too many attatchments if they do.

  • After watching your video several times, I was able to attach an invisible zip to a dress for the first time. Woohoo!!! Thank you so much for posting your instructional video.

  • I have to get me a zipper foot this style!

  • Thank you! Great, easy-to-understand tutorial!

  • Beautiful work, very clear to understand :)

  • Thank you! What a great video, I didn't know this kind of foot existed to begin with!! Thanks for helping me finish my first dress with invisible zipper

  • excellent explanation, I would like to explain the invisible paid shirt collars. Thank you.

  • I really needed help figuring this out and your video was perfect, but since I'm pretty new at this I got confused as to which side i should be sewing on (sadly many times) maybe could you use fabic that has a wrong and right side that's a little easier to tell the difference on? Just where one side is lighter for example!

  • the best video!!!

  • thankyou this video was extremely helpful :).....but sometimes went to quickly and forgot to mention things like which side of the fabric to start with together....but overall VERY HELPFUL :) thankyou

  • I think this video moved just a bit to fast. This is a how to, it felt more like an over view for people who are super confident about everything they do. It's a good explanation just slow down a bit or have some focus shots next time.

  • Thank you so much for the tutorial, I had no idea how to do this, but look really easy, well explained!!!!!!!!!!

  • very good recommend to all students

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! You very clearly demonstrate this zipper attachment ... thank you! Off to purchase an invisible zipper foot...I have done it with a normal foot, but this looks so much easier!

  • You can also use a regular zipper foot. Just press the zipper flat (after you open it )and the coils will lay flatter and you can sew close to them then! Don't use too hot an iron or you will melt the teeth!

  • gracias, no tenia idea de como hacerlo!!!!!!!! siempre me salia mal.

  • Wonderful video, thanks! That was incredibly helpful.

    The music was awful, though.

  • I'm making a fursuit soon and I've been looking for a video like this all week :3

Where can you buy the zipper from?

  • You should be able to but an invisible zipper at any fabric store. I just bought on at Joann's Fabric Store.

  • This was wonderful! Thank you so much!

  • wow, i've been sewing for ages, and watching videos on here. Most of them are cr@p with home sewers, you do things the way we do in the film industry. Way! to go! Great tutorials.

  • i do mine the other way around. stitching the zipper to the sim allowance to hold it in place (without basting) before sewing the edge of the zipper teeth to the garment. the result is perfect too.

there is more than one way, i guess it's a matter of finding what works best with what you have.

  • Thank you, so much.

  • By far the best I have seen. Thank you.

  • this video is great, thank you much for posting it! ;-)

  • You have no clue how much this video helped me, thanks!

  • Thank you!!!

  • This was great! Thanks so much. :)

  • best invisible zipper tutorial out there!

  • this was the best, thank you so much.

  • Excellent video. I can't wait to try my first invisible zipper!

  • This is an excellent video. It is clear and concise!

    Gwenj

  • thank you so much!!! this really help me to finish my skirt!! :)

  • Place this code &fmt=18 at the end of the web address of the video so we can see it with better quality

  • this was freaking awesome! I've always had trouble sewing my invisible zippers, (they never came out invisible haha) thanks!

  • OMG THANK U SOOO MUCH! i was having trouble with that. and i need to finish my homecoming dress tonight

    thanx a million! ^_^

  • also shit. I am glad who taught me. i know it is tense and that is about it, great , who are you. I appreciate the tension and the fact that is for people who did not go to college to do it . So I helped him out of a stitch did I/?

  • Thank you so much but THE MUSIC is HORRIBLE!

  • I agree. It is tense and frustrating. And we know it is not that hard for the talented people. it's a privilege to have the top teachers. Call thattension? I like no tension with a true maestro. Well cheers. Welcome. I was lucky and still am. WhoTF are you? AND I WANTOT LEARN HOW TO SEW AND I LOVE APTINGINT ANF SCYULPURTRE

  • hey can't i come to otis.... i'm a poor black kid though. but i can make a dress that'd make you cry. [with joy, not sadness]

  • That gives me an idea - I've always thought of making instructional DVD's to help explain people the easiest way to make a perfect rever collar, showl, welt pockets etc... - the whole suit system if u like. In real life, it's surprizing to c how many fashion grad' struggle with those yet basic skills.

  • Excellant, wonderful, Yea you have also helped me regain my sanity.

  • @arisha01 amen!!

  • If you don't have an invisible zipper foot, you can use a regular zipper foot. It helps to press the zipper (not too hot an iron!) open first.

  • i don't understand the difference between invisible and regular?

  • an invisible zipper is when you can't see the zipper when you zip it

  • duh i'm dumb. all my garments have invisible zippers.

i can't think of an instance where i'd make a dress with the zipper hanging out.

  • One of the best ways to see the difference is just look at them side by side in the fabric store. You can't see the teeth of the invisible zipper at all. You can see the teeth of a regular zipper.

  • I guess i was only taught how to sew an invisible zipper lol and my teacher made it so easy that I can't imagine how else to make it.

  • now that i watch the video carefully, she does it different from what i do. i do it all in one sew. Instead of basting in place, I zigzag on the outside of the zipper to hold it in place, then i do one sew around the entire zipper.

  • Very nice demo, new for me was the 'stitching of the end of the zipper tape to the seam allowance'. I didn't know that bit.

Just wondering, did you make an error when you instructed the 'right' or 'left' side of the zipper foot grove over the zipper teeth.

From my view point, when you said right-side grove, I was looking at the left grove over the tape and vice versa. From which vantage point were you viewing the foot?

Anyways, thanks for another great demo.

  • I am very happy to have found this fashion studio.

  • Wow, you made it look so easy, thanks. I've never had the courage to try.

  • Yay! thanks to this tutorial my sanity was saved!! Thank you!! =D

  • Thank you, thank you , thank you! I'm a visual learner and needed help sewing a zipper. My mom tried to explain it but I just wasn't getting it. Thanks to your video, I didn't ruin my dress for my sister's wedding! Thank you!
