Could you upload the manual or send it to me if I give you a email address? I've made a lock similar to yours and am currently trying your method out on a ESD lock I have. Thank You
I have been picking up every used tubular lock and key I can get my hands on. And using your basic method I have better then 15 different sized picks with 7,8 and 10 pin configurations. It takes less then 10 seconds to figure out which one is a perfect fit and another ten to pick the lock. And that was when I was a little drunk.
The whole set probably cost me about 20 bucks to make.
Looks like all the pins are the same height on those Kensington Laptop locks...lol. It's not nearly as simple on a "real" tubular lock. I've got about 4 hours on a 7-pin tubular here using the SouthOrd and I still can't get it open.
I agree that these are not the best locks in the world, but just because you cannot pick a lock with the SO pick does not mean that that lock is more difficult to pick then these.
If I remember correctly these locks have 5 different pin sizes, so with 7 pins a total of 78125 different keys.
You can even buy them in series with Master keys.
The SO picks only work well on locks where they fit in perfectly, and since many sizes of tubular locks exist, problems can arise ;)
@cronovanhoo u can buy the real lock pick on ebay for around 45 bucks 80 if u want the 8 pin as well. they sell them incase people lose there keys and need to get in.this is just a cheaper way to get in the machines.with the man hours some may put in it may be cheaper to just buy the actual tool.
i read your manual....i dont have a grinder or dremel, but will a copper cutter work?....or anything else that u have in mind that could make a clean cut on the key that average householders have?
@RawHide0125 Change machines have the exterior tubular lock along with I believe three other locks inside the machine itself to even get to the money just warning you. (It'd look rather awkward if you were just sitting there picking the locks inside, not to mention the tubular lock)
what type of tubular lock is that? i'm looking for a good type to make a lock pick and that key looks pretty nice for the purpose, just reply i guess, THANKS! and awesome manual by the way
If you look at the text info on the right of the video you will find a link to the manual I made to create this pick.
I've used split pins but paper clips could work as well. Just keep in mind that the groove you are grinding shouldn't be deeper then the clip otherwise the rubber band won't have any use anymore.

Theoretically, if you are very careful and precise, a hacksaw should work as well.

Hey man does this pick work on any tubular lock? change machines stuff like that?
RawHide0125 1 year ago
If the key fits, then yes.
There are different sizes (diameters) of tubular locks and keys, so the key might not fit the target lock.
It's the same as with the Southord tubular picks, they also don't fit each lock.

This is from a kensington laptop lock, but any other lock should do as well.

with the 2 cm split pin how far down do you go to bend to make the "L"?
DreemATB 2 years ago
That doesn't really matter. all you need is a piece large enough to press the pin down. Whatever you like best ;)
L0ckP1cker 2 years ago
Is it possible to use paperclips insteal of split clips?
christower50 2 years ago
Yes, but paperclips aren't that strong, so they might bend very quickly...
L0ckP1cker 2 years ago
hey guy where did you get the key
jabbadaputch 2 years ago

blackdragonwiccan 2 years ago
Man, the world needs more guys like you. Thank you so much. But mate, what did you use to make the "L" shaped material? Does clips do the job?

what is the orange thing? do you buy one or make it? what is it made from?
seamonie48 2 years ago
It's called a key, you usually get one or two when you buy a lock :)
Just kidding, see the link in the description for the paper I wrote on making this pick (it is made from a key though) ;)
