They're trying to promote thermogenesis here. It's been proven that there is a slight chance of decreasing weight gain by drinking green tea or bitter orange peel, yerba mate, etc, but I have my doubts about losing weight in absence of fasting, restricted dieting, or good old healthy exercise. I'm more interested in yerba mate because it really is healthy, and contains nearly every essential vitamin.
