It doesn't seem they were about to charge. When rhinos feel disturbed they usually stare intensely, flatten their ears and prod the air with their horns and when they're about to charge they often paw the ground. And by the way, if a rhino doesn't charge another rhino that doesn't necessarily mean it's a chicken -- it mostly means the rhino(s) considered the fight unworthy.
