  • Hey can somebody help me? I got the SF4 TE madcatz fightsick, but i also have a retrocompatible "fat" ps3, and play some games for the PS2 on it, like Guilty Gear, and Capcom vs SNK 2, KOF, etc, and i dont know why but the madcatz arcade stick doesnt work when i want to play this PS2 games on my PS3, is there anything i could do to change it ot somebody know which arcade stick should i get? to play ps2 games on a retrocompatible ps3 D: SORRY BAD ENGLISH

  • @cerdo6661 I think its because the Madcatz TE is only compatible with PS3 games only.

  • why use xbox 360 play cheap game like that ?

  • Hi this is sweet. Do you have any idea how to make a dreamcast controller work for the 360???

Plz any help would b great. I hate playing Marvel vs Capcom2 on the Xbox360 D-pad.

  • Fighting games on a keyboard = like, the hardest possible way.

  • um not really. Most of you blow it out proportion on how hard it is to play fighting games on a keyboard. Since, QCF moves or HCF etc, aren't 100 percent accurate, you can do down, foward for QCF movements and shit. Aside from that, keyboard have multiple possibilities for button layouts.

  • You can hardly say that it's easier than the arcade stick, 6/8 buttons next to each other which require little force to press, then the joystick itself requires very little exhersion to move to do any rotation.

Keyboard with Gief = not the nicest thought ;).

  • uh no duh a stick is muc easier to use than th keyboard. I'm jus sayin, keyboards are better than game pads because you have all the options with ur fingerz, plus you aren't restricted to one type of layout. 360 moves are pretty hard w/ the keyboard, but trying doing Terry's old Rising Taco on a WASD setup ;)

  • i'm not too good at playing street fighter games on an arcade stick. i grew up using the controllers/d-pads because we didn't have an arcade nearby. although i started playing on a d-pad, when i played games like the marvel vs series, i discovered using an arcade stick was far easier. but when i play capcom vs snk, street fighter 4, or any of the original street fighters, i am much better on a d-pad.

p.s. xbox d-pad has always been a piece of shit. playstation d-pad is the best one ever made.

  • isnt that the anniversary edition.......?

  • good stuff but you are terrible at SF

  • Haha yeah, I do better than that on my 360 controller d-pad.

  • Sanwa ftw...

anyway, how did you mod it for the 360?

  • You said Hori doesnt make 360 sticks.... They made the EX 2

  • hes not fighting back wtf!

  • Generally, 4 directions(up down left right) are easier with stick but I am having hard time pressing or holding diagonal directions with arcade sticks. I think Controller D pad is better when it comes to diagonal directions.

  • I have no problems with Diagnals on a stick, everything is better on a stick (in fighting games)

  • Why is this? I can play so much more proficiently on a d-pad than a stick.

But I would love for you to explain why a stick is better in every way?

  • The fact that if you actually practiced with a stick you'd be better, moves come out faster, combos are almost second nature and in SF4 Ultras are almost impossible unless you cheat and bind three punches/kicks to one button.

  • But surely common sense says that wrist movement will always be slower and less effective than that of slight thumb movement?

6 button FightPad with triggers that are already signed to 3x3 means it should technically be alot easier to play on, rather than a stick?

Dunno, just strikes me as basic logic?

  • It's already been proven your wrist is faster than a thumb :P

Even with a 6 button fightpad ultras would be harder than a stick, shoulder buttons just aren't very good buttons to use there's a reason all tournament players use sticks

  • Where has it been proven that the wrist is faster than the thumb? I have scoured google and found absoloutely nothing backing up that statement, so where's the proof? I'd love to see it.

So ultra's will be difficult on a Hori EX2 then? Seeing as how that stick is 6 buttons too and I have no other options on the 360...

  • I can't find the site right now but I'll post it as soon as I do

They'll be less difficult on a EX2, but the EX2 isn't all that great

  • You sir should win a certificate for dumbest question ever asked on the internet. Or most amount of epic fail in one post. Or just generally being a moron. Or all three.

  • Well it's funny how there is no definitive answer given. If it was such a stupid question, there would be an answer that would objectify undeniable logic. However, there is no answer, simply doesn't exist... It boils down to personal preference.

  • No, there really is a definitive answer. The game was made for the arcade. The console port is just that, a port. Playing a fighting game made for console works fine on a controller (DOA4 or Super Smash Bros) but as far as traditional arcade fighters go, especially the SF series, arcade sticks are far superior. Don't believe me? Buy SFIV and go to challenge mode, try to complete the harder difficulty combos on a controller, you will never nail it I assure you.

  • That's not an answer at all, like I said- it's down to personal preference. I started my SF days on the arcade too, so I understand where you're coming from.

Any character in particular you reffering to? So far I have mastered some of the Shotokan characters hard trials, on a standard 360 controller. (Ryu, Gouken, Akuma)- so perhaps your assurance is reffering to a specific trial?

Got a stick on the way anyway lol...

  • thats a fact, the shitty xbox 360 pad can't cope with the hard trials.

  • Thats why you use the analog. Best analog stick ever. imo

  • im a beast with the xbox d-pad!

ive only played on the arcade sticks on the arcade...

So im not really use to it. im thinking about getting one, everyone telling me i can have more control once i get use to the stick.

  • "epic fail" why how culturally observant of you

  • This doesn't make any sense

  • Is this a good stick in general ? I'm thinking about buying a PS2 Super Pro.Stick. Thanks in advance for feedback and reply's.

  • yea wait for the xbox 360 hori real arcade pro. that's real nice.

  • Cant you just get a ps2 to pc converter and then just stick in your 360 because it has the usb port. PLZ tell me if this relly works.

  • you can't do this because the 360 has security that only allows 360 controllers or s mod such as this

  • probably gutted a 360 controller and soldered it up.

  • any1 know of ps2>x360 converter?

  • Does the Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 (PS2) work with XBox 1 & Gamecube via a PS2 to Xbox/GC adaptor? It should, but before I shell out the money for one I just want to make sure.

  • I couldn't say I've never had an adapter to try it out, but I'm thinking no... not really sure tho.

  • With the right adapter, it does work on Xbox 1.

  • Mine arrived, and yes, yes it does work with the Xbox 1 via a PS2 > Xbox adaptor.

  • I fucking hate the Xbox 360 controller with fighting games.

  • tell me about it. i can't stand ANY controller for any fighting game. but some ppl can use it... i think they're weird! LOL

  • same here mate

  • If you don't mind me asking, how did you get it working on 360 and can it still work on PS2 as well? I want a stick for both (also PC which shouldnt be a problem) and this one looks good.

  • it only works for the 360, i didn't have enough room to cram the ps2 PCB in there.

  • shortmarin im doin the same fuck me buying a mod chip

  • nice triple dragon ;)

  • OMG i want one soooo bad, getting ready for SF4 ;)

  • i have that exact same monitor.

  • it's a bad ass monitor!!!

  • wow, me too. i love it. nice @ the 360 HRAP btw

  • What monitor are you using, if you don't mind me asking? :]

  • samsung 226 bw

  • i would own you in street fighter

  • that may be true but just don't think you could whoop my ass!

  • Actually there is the Hori EX2 series for XBox360 which I own. Everything works fine for me with it, and it's cheaper compared to HRAP2.

  • Soul Calibur hori stick is coming out for the 360 a couple days before the game. You might want to check it out, I'm not sure if I will buy it. That is why I am searching for YouTube videos with the hori sticks. Just go to Amazona and put in hori, they are $59.99.

  • that's just a regular EX stick with art on it. if you're in need of a stick i'd say get it, but you could probably find and EX stick for $20 less if you don't mind not having the art. just wait Hori is making an actual Real Arcade Pro EX

  • Do you have instructions on how to do that?

  • I'm in the process on making a tutorial as we speak.

  • hey do you have sanwa buttons in there or hori buttons?

  • all SANWA

  • damnnnnnnnn im so mad i didnt buy it lol i slept on it :|

  • Had to replace the Hori PCB with switches with low force operation switches (Omron VX).

whats that mean ... why didnt u just have a 3rd party microsoft controller pcb hooked up with quick disconnects to the buttons ?

  • If you ever looked at the joysitck of a JLF series joystick the buttons are soldered onto a pcb underneath it. That whole assembly is what I had to take out and replace with switches not soldered to a pcb.

  • Thats a playstation stick, is the stick compatible with the xbox 360 console as well?

  • He changed the internal PCB from a playstation to and Xbox 360 one.

It is not PS compatible out of the box.

  • Umm that's what the title is.

  • There is a Hori stick for the 360 it's the Hori EX2.

  • sweettt

  • Nice room, nice setup.

  • Is there a tutorial? I have one catching dust right now.

  • no tut. just a project of mine. if i had the time id make one. 1st just try to find a controller or another joystick with an easily connectable pcb.

  • do you have problems with the hori moving around while playing? do you use anything to keep it in place?

  • no it's pretty sturdy the way it is, whether it's on your lap or not the best is placing it on a desk or level table.

  • How is it better than the previous hori stick for PS2? Does it feel the same? The reason I have for asking is my budget. I heard the pro 2 prices at $129.95. Versus the previous model that goes at about $49.95. I don't have that much to drop on an arcade stick. Just trying to see what I can get at a cheaper price for the same quality. Because from what I've heard the Hori stick that came before the pro 2 is the same exact thing minus the turbos and a few other features. But the stick is the same

  • It's a little more sturdy than past ones. The buttons sure feel more sturdy than past earlier hori sticks. Your best bet if you want similar quality find a tekken ps2 hori stick. those are pretty cheap to find.

  • Dude! What a stroke of luck! I got the hrap2, same as you at an exclusive video game store near my house. They it was exported 2 days before I got there. I never thought I'd be so lucky as to walk in to a store expecting something less in terms of quality, yet walk out with something more for cheap. I must say it handles beautifully. The restrictor is square like you said, and is great for down forward, down back etc... Thanks man. If it wasn't for your video I would never have been convinced!

  • Awesome. If you like a better 360 motion with out the "corners" you can always buy a different plate. They have more circular ones. How much did you buy it for? You're pretty lucky.

  • $89.95, and I do like the corner restictors. It's exact Japanese/Korean arcade format. I'm a tekken player as well as Guilty Gear. I was about to turn pro in tekken but I was told by the U.S. tekken committee that I would have to convert from pad and start playing japanese format sticks before the would register me on tekken net rankings. So I might as well keep the stick the way it is. I like it regardless.

The process of adjusting has been fairly easy. Within a month I should be good to go. :)

  • This would be awsome for Virtua Fighter

  • Works unbelievably with ANY fighter!

  • Hey, I'm jw are the hori arcade sticks really good for street fighter? Like how's the feel of it?

  • when you replace the restrictor plate for it you get a better 360 degree motion no more four edges. I like it cuz it gives it a more circular feel. I get my moves off alot better than before. The shaft is shorter than the traditional arcade joystick, so the "throw" seems shorter so your moves are faster.

  • Thats some SF skills ya got running there. :P

  • lol! yea, i kind of stopped thinking about wut to do there for a sec and just did some dumb shit.

  • Hey sunshyne19, I had a couple questions. I'm looking to get an arcade stick for PS2 and Xbox 360. With this mod, can you continue to use it on the PS2? If not, then I would have to pick up this and an Arcade In A Box.

  • you could try to cram 2 pcbs in there that would take some calculating but in my case i really didn't need to have a stick that could both be played on the ps and 360. i just wanted a dedicated one for the 360. but to answer your question this mod only goes one way. having the ability to use multiple systems on one stick is convenient tho.

  • do you know if the DOA/ Virtual Fighter stick without mooddeing would work for street fighter anniversary collection or street fighter hyper fighting on the 360.

  • yea it'll work you just have to change the buttons around in the game options.

  • have you ever try the doa stick, they have the same stick for virtual fighter two it has stickers do is not like the DOA 4, but the controllers look the same.

  • yea i have tried the doa stick. the stick i used to mod this one was a fighter stick ex for the 360.

  • hori makes arcade sticks for the xbox 360 now. Do you know if is a good arcade stick because i'm trying to get one to play my street fighter games on my xbox

    360.

  • the only arcade stick hori makes for the 360 is the DOA one. if your talking bout this one, this one was made for the ps2 which i then converted to 360. no they don't make this particular one. they have a thing called arcade in a box now, they sell sticks. u could looke them up is u want sticks also.

  • nice mod you did there on you're HRAP2. Hey I was wondering if you can help me mod my VSHG (not free of course lol). I would love to use it for VF5.

  • Sure I'd like to help you. Yea, this stick works great with VF5. not particularly familiar with a VSHG but i can sure take a look into it for you.

  • nice can i ask u where u got the horri joystick from???? and how much?

  • i bought it from a merchant site on ebay Gamez Network Gaming Lounge. $100 with shipping.
