To be able to have such "finesse" in his sound with such a big voice. It's quite depressing and bring you back to your studies. Hope to be a little bit reachable one day. Kipnis one of my heroes.
among the most romantic of german lied- with one of its finest interpreters. today, the closest singer to this sound would have to be matthias goerne. thanks for sharing these.
THE BEST bass singer in a long time!!! His voice is so smooth and text-book perfect with enough interpritatino without "haming it up" THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!
what a beautiful voice. I first heard this recording about six years ago when I borrowed from my local library a collection of golden recordings. I have since been trying to find where to buy such item!

Alexander Kipnis sang this one with a glorious Basso voice and a perfect rendition.

What perfect unadulterated sound. Nothing gets in the way of that voice. If anyone has more Kipnis please post it!

Absolutely the greatest Basso of the Century and a very fine individual as well.

Fabulous indeed, of the basses for me only Kipnis and Christoff get this much humanity and feeling into their singing

Music and Arts Programs of America made a CD set of Kipnis' lieder recordings, which I have :-) released 1991 CD 661-2.
