@firesnowgirl In order to take Fai with him,kurogane needed to sacrifice something that is of equal value to fai's magic. An arm of kurogane was equal to fai's halved magic,i.e,fai minus one of his eyes,so he cut it off as a sacrifice,and took fai with him to nihon country.

Fai is actually named Yuui, but when he was a kid, in memory of his brother, he took on the name Fai instead. the one being held by sakura is the real actual Fai. the brother whose name had been taken in memory of him.

Fay/Fai/Fye's real name is Yuui and he's not a magician from Celes, but of another dimension...He's aware of Syaoran being a clone at the beginning of the series, due to being Fei Wang Reed's pawn...You should really read the manga
